Because the Kehlranni have not technology to smelt metals, the armour itself is made from resins manufactured from certain types of trees. With a core of papyrus-like paper material, the resin hardens producing a solid, yet light, material that rivals steel. The actual design is meant to be functional, yet allows maximum freedom of movement. It's normally painted a rich bronze-like colour, trimmed with terracotta red, symbol of royalty.
