Gentle King (almost finished)

Acrylics on a 20x15.5 inch canvas (with gold leaf accents). Debating on adding in some more highlights and details but I may leave him as is. Real paintings are new to me. Haven't done one in well over a decade so its been quite a ride relearning how paint works with brushes on canvas. Or tries not to work. ;p If I can manage it, I'll be auctioning him off at MFF's art show this November. It'll be hard to part with him, since he's basically my first real painting, but I kinda made him with the intention of selling so we'll see what happens.

Cicadas drive me insane. Anyhow, done in colored pencils and a bit of black ink for Arphalia's hair and outline. Started out as one of those moody for-me sketches. The coloring bits started in the lobby of Midwest FurFest back in November. It sat around unfinished ever since, until I needed something to warm up on before getting back into these badges. Generally, I try and refine most of my sketches before coloring them on the machine but with this one I wanted to go a little crazy, take something raw and see if I could refine it, using stray lines as guides. I like him. He's cranky. ^_^
