Badge gift for the pure undiluted awesome that is Poofy. She's one of my three anthro-art idols and she recently watched me on FA (where I made a gallery, obviously), which was a real joyful aneurysm moment.
Her eyebrow barbell and nail-tooth are sparkly silver, as is her border.

Trade with DA's stitched-up-smile666, her white Pom character Pepper. I am not good with th'poms... I make them look more mediumspitzy.

ANYWAY scanner kills detail, obviously watermark is not present in original, she is outlined in sparkly blue, spikes on collar are sparkly silver, etc etc etc.

Badge done quite a while ago as a gift for mr. Jaygryph... not so much the way he draws his character, but more of my view of a zombie blue jay gryph.

falconbeast.jpg
Image: falconbeast.jpg   378x700 75412 bytes 2006.09.27

When I was little (9ish) I made up this race of anthropoid falconbeasts, which I rediscovered while digging through a pile of old drawings a short while ago.

I wanted to revisit the concept.

These guys are fairly short (about 5 feet), with no external sexual dimorphism save for the females being slightly taller. They are quite masculine in build, with well-developed pectoral muscles (vestiges of flight ability) and somewhat narrow hips. The females do NOT have breasts (they're birds, f'serious).

Kachexie came out like lame x500, especially in the scan.I think I'll have to go over it again.I'm glad I got to show her black gums and pink/green/black patched rotty tongue though. The whole thing looks MARGINALLY better in person. When I did the lines/colouring my hand was aching like crazy, so I think that had something to do with it.

I like Marsillach's. He's a character I don't draw much of and this is my first time even colouring a picture of him. He's outlined in sparkly blue, which somewhat obscures his black outline, but it looks good in person.

I like Shine's too! Pretty green and blue. Her piercings are coloured in sparkly silver and she's outlined with purple.

This type of badge is $20.

Two gift badges! It is kind of obvious who they are for.

I'm not sure if Vierdz's character is actually named that... whuh-oh. And I took slight liberties with Frisket's markings.
Vierdz's eye is actually intense orange, my scanner is just lame and does not pick that up.

Kachexie the zombie Icelandic sheepdog looking as if something she was pursuing just flew off.

Not going to colour this.

She has a massive, gaping hole in her brisket, from which her heart has been removed. Several veins and arteries protrude from the wound and the hole and blood vessels often bleed profusely.

aagh, head's too big

axolotl.jpg
Image: axolotl.jpg   600x545 82972 bytes 2006.09.19

In my recent DA journal I asked for suggestions on which non-canine and non-avian creature to draw and Chanticlair suggested some sort of herp, so I chose one of my favourite amphibians, the vacant looking AXOLOTL. It is a Mexican salamander that some people eat. (eeewww) Most of the ones I have seen are leucistic, with dark eyes, white skin, and pink gill fringes.

This is my MENTAL IMAGE of an axolotl as it was done during school and I had no opportunity to find a ref... a google search revealed that their feet are in fact NOT webbed and their gill fringes are more of a constant length rather than crazy all over the place. WHOOPS.

Image: channiclurr-got-th-RABIES.jpg   435x600 106250 bytes 2006.09.13

When Chanticlair got her tablet, she made a journal entitled "MASSIVE FOAMING AT TEH MOUTH"... which inspired this.

Prismacolor markers, micron inks, gel pen on plate bristol. Don't use this unless I made it for you, and there is a 6.5 billion to one chance that you are not.

for DA's chanticlair, inspired by one of her journal posts there.
Lineart is a little shaky, this is due to my being jittery for unknown reasons.

Do NOT colour over this, do NOT use it as an avatar, a shirt design, or WHATEVER. This is not your character, nor is she mine, and if I see this anywhere else I'll be apoplectic.

Will be coloured. Same rules apply to that version.

caffeinefree.jpg
Image: caffeinefree.jpg   400x388 69790 bytes 2006.08.25

Kachexie is a zombie with a VERY slow metabolism, slow enough that it is difficult to detect. This is why she requires caffeine as her main "energy" source! As a stimulant it boosts her metabolic functions and she can digest what she eats and perform CELLULAR RESPIRAAAAATION. She's somehow able to glean more energy from her food than a living dog her size after receiving her caffeine fix, but as her bodily functions are regulated by so fickle a source, she stores a good deal of glycerol as FAT. Not excessive fat, but adipose tissue nonetheless. This is also why she fails to live up to her name. (kachexie = cachexia = atrophy) Other zombies, such as Lerie, lack fat entirely and appear completely emaciated.

Badge commission for DA's Darlenewolfen, sent along with BlueScar.

dolphin.jpg
Image: dolphin.jpg   500x412 58901 bytes 2006.08.22

Hm, the colours are far smoother and brighter in the original. They should be blended rather than abruptly switching to another shade.

Saw a dolphin movie on super IMAX DOME today and it inspired me to draw a dolphin. This guy's based on a dusky dolphin. That's why its rostrum is so short.

Finished commission for DA's Darlenewolfen, pretty happy with it. This her character BlueScar.
AH CRIPES I JUST REALIZED I MESSED UP ON SOME MARKINGS.

kachexiebadge.jpg
Image: kachexiebadge.jpg   250x230 25112 bytes 2006.08.13

Neeew character!! A zombie Icelandic sheepdog. Her name is Kachexie, which is German for cachexia. Her name is pronounced how it looks to English speakers (caa-CHECK-see); though the actual German word is pronounced differently.

This badge still needs a bit more refined cutting, but it's essentially done otherwise. The purple of the name shows up poorly in the scan. Can't wait to get this one laminated!

chanticlair-badge.jpg
Image: chanticlair-badge.jpg   193x250 26398 bytes 2006.07.27

Gift badge for DA's Chanticlair in the "cutout" badge style I've been doing a lot of lately. Why? Because she is cool and she draws SO well. Go give her some attention.

I'm also selling this type of badge now... $10. But you would have to specify that you want a cutout badge, or you'd end up with one of my normal badges (which I do on different paper, so they don't cut easily). And those cost $15. I know $10 seems a bit pricey... but I seriously worked from 10:30 PM to 2:00 AM on this little thing!

This one's VERY little... 3.5"x3"! And the blue is metallic gel pen, which SHOWED UP!

leriebadge.jpg
Image: leriebadge.jpg   203x282 32320 bytes 2006.07.25

In all my years of having her and her predecessors (who were essentially her) as characters, I can't believe I've never made a Lerie badge.

In case you are unfamiliar with her, Lerie is (hopefully clearly) a zombie gryphlet, the only true "character" out of all the undead gryphs I draw. Her design's changed pretty significantly from the last time I drew her: namely, her eyes have gotten smaller, her ear fluff is green, and she's now caked in filth. Before she was a light grey... but honestly, how would a young zombie be able to maintain that pristine colour?

I did this to test out a new badge style (completely cut out)... if successful, it'll be my littlest badge ever at an adorable 3"x4"!

sparrow.jpg
Image: sparrow.jpg   400x394 73548 bytes 2006.07.22

A chipping sparrow. I HATE the scan. It makes it look a lot redder than it should, but I'm very happy with the original!

Since I have been producing virtually nothing that I can show you right now, here's some more ANCIENT ART. Though not quite so ancient as the other piece.

This is my character Willow, a portion of the last panel of a big ol' real media entry for my old comic.
Before I knew about the rainbow husky onslaught.

DISEMBODIED WOLF HEAD COMIN' RIGHT AT'CHA!!

This is for Psamophis's colouring book project. Check it out and contribute to it!
Free fro the colouring. Just show me if you do.

(note: this is the "freaking huge" version)

Just a little.

femmefatale.jpg

"'Cause everybody knows (she's a femme fatale)
The things she does to please (she's a femme fatale)
She's just a little tease (she's a femme fatale)
See the way she walks
Hear the way she talks"
(© Lou Reed)

Inspired by a baby mantis I found... my mind drifted to the infamous ritual of mantid copulation, and then the Velvet Underground song popped into my head.

Tsuki for DA's Lady-Hawk, leaning on a sphere of sorts. Maybe it's the moon? It would certainly be appropriate!

I've had this sitting around for WEEKS and just inked it now.

Ghostie the Eurasier for SpaceWhore of DA. Eurasiers... SO POOFY. Refined mix of Chow, Keeshond, and Samoyed... oh man. There's some floof. So I worked to show that.

A scan of brightgryph.jpg before I coloured him. Please don't recolour this.

shimmerhawk-badge.jpg
Image: shimmerhawk-badge.jpg   400x362 63321 bytes 2006.06.19

Gift badge for THE HAWK WHAT SHIMMERS to go with her purchase! And I figured since the name is SHIMMERhawk, why not make a super-shimmery badge?? So I did. I really went all-out with the sparkles this time, and this scan looks even worse than usual because of it!!

The name is sparkly blue, the background sparkly silver, and some sparkly brown accents (those weird stripes) on her nape, cheek, and throat.

Letters are weird, but the sparkliness makes up for it in person.

Another brightly coloured gryphon.

Will be on Furbid starting at $20.
Like the other, 005 and 01 microns and prismacolour markers on plate bristol.

brightgryph.jpg
Image: brightgryph.jpg   600x343 107769 bytes 2006.06.14

Just a little something for myself, but if you're taken by him and really want him, email me with an offer.

His colouration reminds me of those 60s-trip-cartoons. He's done in 005 and 01 Pigma Microns and Prismacolor markers on plate bristol.

shawte-badge.jpg
Image: shawte-badge.jpg   400x292 52951 bytes 2006.06.14

Badge commission for Shawte. He's a feline/canine hybrid, the feline half being sabretooth or tiger and the canine being fox or coyote.

A hard badge to do since I was working from a description alone.
