100 Files

Incidentally this is my 100. upload to the VCL!
To be sure, looking back at it in a few days or a few years this count will certainly no longer be correct... However I saw the famous "Blue_Panther 99 Files" in the artist listings and decided to reflect about the past year...

Peggy's Fridge Art rant left an everlasting impression on me...
So... what have I uploaded... and why?

I have allways declared I would never do an Anubis - Picture. I find Anubis Pictures overrated, overhyped and overpriced...

Okay... but on the other side, I find it utmot amusing, that there should be such a (sex)hype over this acient god. I was always wondering where and how this started off... One night over a glass of wine the answer was emminent, and I was therefore forced to put an Anubis to paper XD.

Con visitors will recognise this as one of those famed, cooky inked posters Blue_Panther wanks out shortly before a con, mainly to advertise somekind of a weird room party: This example is this years Treecon poster, inviting folk to a Pyjama and Sketchbook party.

As you might see, I was planing on dashing it through Illustrator (the flowy typo is the give away here), however I ran out of time to work on it. Thus the fairly rudimental typo and layout remained.

Sometime along the line I got to know the dutchfur alpha-bitch Thaily Brimstone on a few art matters. She has been shredding my work ever since, time to issue a warning to fellow artists !not! to seek contact if you want lull yourself in pleasing self-content. However, her critical stashing has indeed sparked some pictures from me... "Beware Thaily" one of the last (and given I actually started it back in January one of the longest till the upload)

Running the VCL is a piece of cake... you just have to sit in the sun all day, perhaps do a bit of programming, occasionally publish a VCLPotD, eventually add some picture to your cool sketchbook collection and be alert in case a fire breaks out in the lobby, where all the artists meet and converse. Easy going life isn't it? If it weren't for all these tiresome rouge artists (like this here Blue_Panther) who occasionally draw these dreadful fanpicts of ones character!

So, this picture comes directly from the Eurofurence X where it was up for sale.

I 'spose, this is the cutest homoerotic thing I have done in a while. I was always wondering how it might spark off between males, the most humorous answer being, that cupid either has a bad aim or a queer eye himself... I settled for the latter!

Since this is drawn with wash and inks on paper, the original is fairly wavy, perhaps the reason this didn't sell.

Epic Mount

This is a snippit from a larger picture I am currently working on: The whole idea bases off the idea of the Ford Puma car and leather accessories, bling... and WOW and... I dunnow... adds? A freind of mine bought a Ford Puma, a very very distinctively stylish car. Hence it wasn't too far off to make a mucle car a mucle cat.. mine of course is a tom :P

Beowulf

During a conversation I casually declared, that I don't like to draw monsters, because I am afraid of them. Hence I would have to be afraid of my own drawings if I should ever draw monsters.

Well, the film Beowulf left my head filled with nice colours, especially the evil golden ones. And as golden dragons are the complematary colour to blue feilnes I couldn't help myself to want to put the dragon from Beowulf to paper. This picture shows the result thereof.

This is a classical "waitng for the printer" picture. Since I did it at work, it should be in the "@ Work" directory, however, since it's no random doodle, it doesn't quite fit in that collection...

How is something like this made? Simple:
Send a 20 page layout to the rip to be printed on the laser, wait, get bored, open Illustrator and start layering curves and squares! Define what colour to reduce to... today's pick is purple for some reason. Add signature
Voilą!

Grande Casino - Eurofurence 13

This is my flatline posterdesign for Eurofurence. I have always liked tha grand Hotel Feel from centuries past, and was wondering if I could capture that with my flat colouring and reduced Linework. I chose a 1920ies approach, and even dashed in a bit of Jugendstil... and grande pomp and circumstances.

Headless Horseman

My picture for Halloween. As Halloween isn't widespread here in my parts of Europe, Halloween Parties are something one knows from US television soaps and films. Hence the merchandise on display in shops has a very USA-Highschool-Party feel to it. It bares no resemblance to the traditional Halloween my grandparents had in the northern parts of th UK. To me, grownups running around with "Scary Movie" masks has something highly surreal to it.

Some ideas are so surreal, that I gigglishly had to put them to paper: For instance PatriX and I mimicking the Heasless Horseman together.

In the wake of the MMC passed, I had to take some time to reflect upon current affairs. Naturally, my sketchbook accompanied me. In this case here, down to the banks of the River Rhine, overlooking the other side of town.

They have all gone bobbing and dancing off with their iPods instead of working their paws to the bone. Am I the only one around who actually uses his Apple stuff for what it was originally made for?

Sleaze - nothing but sleaze. Initially a picture for a friend's birthday, this thing turned from a seductive self portrait of my alter-ego to a lion in a shower. It remains discussable if it is now less seductive, but I can far more live with a "sessay lion in teh shower". So or so, it is wank material...
