"Hope" quagga, digital 2002. Credit owed to Raynflower on this one for reminding me of the existence of quagga-kind, an extinct species of zebra-horse recently brought back through selective breeding.

"Peacock Blue" raccoon, watercolor on coldpress 2002. A quick little watercolor study, of a raccoon in a robe, with pearls. I may have to do a larger piece someday, since this is only 9 x 12.

"Rainblade" red wolf, digital 2002. I was thinking of rainbringers one day; those shamanic figures who can summon storms in times of drought. Since Native American wolves seem to be rather common, I painted in the European element of a rainbringing sword just for the sake of diversity. A print of this painting is current on auction at Furbid.

"Peacock Blue II" raccoon, watercolor 2002. Every now and then you do a painting that you really like...and no one else does. I've yet to sell either print or original of this one, (and not through lack of trying) but damnit, I like it. It does something for me that evidentally it doesn't do for anyone else, but that's okay. Sometimes art is just for yourself, after all.

Untitled, kangaroo, mixed media 2002. This was an experiment with colored pencil over watercolor, which came out very well on the 12 x 16 original. I scanned it and added the bedding digitally, to provide a little background for the prints. I find myself both quite attached to the original, and completely unable to display it, as it's rather more explicit, and silly than either my spouse or I is willing to hang on the wall, so I may have to part with it at some point in the future.

"Saffron in Snow" tiger, digital 2002. Inspired by the fantastic snowscapes of wildlife artists Bateman and Seery-Lester, and frustrated by my inability to coax detail from my current acrylic project, I perhaps went a bit overboard in detail on this painting to compensate. I was very pleased with the result, however. A print is currently on auction at Furbid.

Watercolor, 10 x 14. Just a quick doodle of a serval woman wearing silver.

"Shunga" rabbit, digital 2002. Perhaps appropriately for my first upload, one of my very first furry pin-ups. This is Shunga, a lop rabbit with eroticly tattooed ears. Shunga was a type of Japanese erotic print, popular for several hundred years but more or less unheard of today; the tattooing inside the ears is done in that style.

"First Life" cat, digital 2002. The first in a rather ambitious series of nine Art Nouveau styled pieces, entitled "The Nine Lives of the Grey Siamese." I'm quite excited about it, and already hard at work on the second life of this lithe lady. Prints are available and will be on auction at Furbid.

"Taj" digital, 2002. An illustration for an anthology, of a young male lion making an unpleasant discovery. Taj is copyright to his creator, and may not be reproduced without permission.

"Treetops" Matschie's tree kangaroo, watercolor/colored pencil, 2002. Just a lovely little marsupial in a vinyl jacket, high in the canopy.
440x550 50294 bytes 2002.11.26
"Wet Mink," mink, digital 2002. A commission of a female mink wearing a wet shirt--the texture in the shirt, in my opinion, is the best part.
386x500 64319 bytes 2002.05.14
"The White Rabbit" rabbit, digital 2002. The White Rabbit of Lewis Carroll's Wonderland, having been bound up with her own pocketwatch chain, seems a little dismayed. Oh, my ears and whiskers...
467x650 100016 bytes 2002.05.13
"Zebra Blues" zebra, watercolor on illo board 2002. The Trojan mane gave her more of a punk look than I had realized from the sketches, as if she should be wearing a black leather jacket instead of draped black silk; but then, there's always next time.

"Zebra With Tea Roses" zebra, mixed media, 2002. I wanted to do something Art Nouveau in entirely B&W, and inspired by the tea roses that are in full bloom here, I came up with this. It's primarily digital, from a rough pencil sketch, and was done using many many layers. I was very happy with the results, if not with the pain in my wrists, and I plan to offer some limited edition prints.
550x425 69560 bytes 2002.07.04
"Lyra" lynx, digital 2002. A commissioned piece, featuring a charming female bobcat. I went out of my way to give her very large paws, since every lynx I have ever encountered has had enormous feet. Lyra is copyrighted to her owner.

Watercolor of a young male sand fox...I never paint males, but hey, sometimes I get in the mood. This one's over at Furbid for a week.
