Okay, so it's a little off topic, but I think I'm allowed a few after all the on topic stuff I post. ^^;; I was ordered by Roux to draw something yesterday, so I obediently picked my pencil up and drew! This is what I have done so far, and I think it might be where I burn out on this picture. Yes, I know the flames are missing, and yes, I know the background in boring... but do you know how -hard- it is to do this sort of lineless work? I've put in over six hours of work already, and this is all I have done. It's hard to keep up with my three year old and still find time to work on this one, so this may be as finished as it gets. Still, I'm proud of it for my first real attempt. I watched a really really cool movie thingy tonight with my sweetie. It's called Powaqqatsi and it's this.. composition of music and imagery. It's really -quite- stunning.. even if I did draw through most of it. *hehe* I couldn't help it! The first fifteen minutes of the film and suddenly I'm hit with this image! And I -had- to get it on paper before I lost it cause it was so vivid in my mind!\r\nDefinately inking and colouring this one.\r\nPowaqqatsi is .. different. It's very enjoyable though and if you haven't seen it, I recommend finding it and watching it, if you can. It's a little hard to find though, apparently. But it's really very cool! And totally inspiring. Hey, some of the music from this movie was even used in the Truman Show! Cool, neh? ^_^\r\nArtwork done by Carrie Riff.

I'm a really big fan of Alice in Wonderland.. I just love it and I grew up on the stories. They've always been so wonderful, bizarre and twisted. I found out recently that Roux adores the books as much as I do, and was awfully pleased with the Cheshire Ix picture I did. So.. I did another one, this one more for Roux! I'm not entirely sure just where the inspiration for this one came from. I was just sitting there, watching Dragon Half and preparing to draw, since I was in the mood, and just kinda out of nowhere, this picture struck me! Something totally new for me.. well, okay, not totally new, cause we had to do this in highschool art classes, but I haven't done it since then. I'm rather pleased with the results, actually. o.o\r\nIt's a monochrome study of Sakura, done with only two Prismacolour pencils and a peice of plain blue construction paper. I must admit... for an experiment, I wasn't expecting it to turn out this well. ^^;;;\r\nI don't have moments of ego very often, so please forgive me while I run around going WOOHOO! I finished it in time for Hallowe'en! Yay!\r\nAnd I coloured it completely differently than I have before. I've heard this called cel shading, like they do in animation, and I wanted to give it a try. It was done in Photoshop and it's ... very different than I usually do, but not unwelcome. I think I did an okay job,and I'm happy with the way the picture came out! Have a Happy and safe Hallowe'en everybody! Look! I learned how to draw little kids properly! ^_^\r\nI got this super awesome book yesterday called 'Manga Mania : How to draw Japanese Comics.' and it's got a whole section on how to draw children properly, and make them look like kids, not just short, skinny adults! And it works really well. ^_^\r\nThis is Deanna when she was about six or so, I'd guess. She wasn't originally supposed to be -quite- that young in the picture when I started it. Was aiming for more around ten or eleven, but she's so adorable in this picture, I just had to post it. Yeah, okay, so Hallowe'en is supposed to be scary and stuff, but I don't deal with scary very well, so I'm going cute! My husband, Kyle, grew up on the music of a little known rock musical that he recently introduced me too. Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of The War of The Worlds. It really is a very good musical, not alot of singing, but lots of really cool late 70's, early 80's sorta alien kinda music. It has to be listened to to be appreciated properly. While I was listening to it last night, I drew her! Wheeee! I just -had- to draw this! Roux is the furry queen of all that is lovely and bizarre, and Junko Mizuno is the manga queen of all that is lovely and bizarre.. needless to say.. this just -screamed- to be drawn! It's a gift piccie, from me, to Roux, cause she's so awesome. *giggle* I love the bizarre and different, and she encompasses so much of the best of it. I went in and inked the cute picture of Kamikire, and when I was done, my sweetie scanned it and then decided to try his hand at some digital colouring in Photoshop. He did a -great- job, for his first attempt! He's not an artist, but a writer. He says it came out okay because the picture style lends to flat colour, but I think it's great for a first try from someone who never draws or colours, don't you? I just love how this came out! I was going through my drawing tutorial book today, and discovered a little section on body types. it just so happened that two of the types he did were much like my own and my husband's. It suddenly inspired the idea of drawing our personal characters, Kyle Wuffie and Carrie Pika, with our RL body types. Here it is! Tada. Yes, that's what I really look like, though I appear to have shrunk about a half a foot. Oops. o.o Oh well! You get the idea. This picture pays homage to one of my personal favourite manga artists, Junko Mizuno! She has the most amazingly adorable but terribly sexy style, and yet, her pictures carry such wonderfully different and bizarre imagery! I.. started working on a tribute picture to the terrible day of September 11th.. but.. it hurts. It hurts -bad-. I saw everything on live television after being phoned by my distraught grandmother at 9 am. I saw the second crash, the pentagon, people.. the towers.. falling. Images that will never be wiped from my memory. What hurt most of all was not knowing, at the time, if my beloved WhiteDeath was okay, since the only knowledge I had was that she lived in NYC.. somewhere. I didn't know where, I didn't know how close. I've never been to NYC, and know next to nothing about it. I prayed for her, worried for her, searched online for some word of her. I didn't sleep. Finally, yesterday, I got word that she was fine, and so was all her family, and I wept. I wept for hours in relief. It.. made me realize, and hurt even more, for all those people who still don't know. The not knowing was the worst part.. having no resolution, be it happy or sad.\r\nTo all those who still don't know.. I pray you find your answers soon.\r\nThe not knowing hurt me, and I pray you don't suffer in ignorance long.\r\nIf your resolution be happy, I rejoice with you.\r\nIf your resolution be sad.. I mourn with you.\r\nSo many people.. so many lives.. this little Canadian has only been in the USA for two months now since her marriage, and this tragedy has struck her hard. I posted something positive to give those who hurt some solace... even for a moment.\r\nYour loved ones are at peace, be they with you now, or passed to the next life. God watch them and love them all.\r\nI.. don't know what else to say.. I still weep, even today..\r\nStand tall, strong and proud, America. Well, this was a new attempt at inking for me. I have this felt tip marker that's actually alot like a brush pen. Now, mind you, I've never used a marker like that before to ink, so it was a totally new experience. I'm actually rather pleased with the results. Okay.. okay.. you all can shoot me now. Yes, I've never been to a rave in my life, but that doesn't mean I haven't always wanted to. They were banned where I lived up north in Canada and you could get arrested for going to one, because a couple of young kids, like between 12 and 15, were drinking and doing drugs at a rave and then got themselves killed on the way home playing chicken with a freight train. Since then, they've been illegal. And now I'm too old. People'd look at me funny and stuff if, at 23 and being a mom, I tried to dress up like that and go to a rave. *deepsigh* What I wouldn't give to go to one. I love the music, the people, the fun, the clothes. Just pure fun and love of music. Anyways! This is Kamikire and Kerri, all decked out and having the time of their lives partying the night away to a driving beat. I just love Kerri's outfit. It's what I would wear if I went to a rave.
