I'm in an odd art slump now. I haven't been drawing much, but I've been finishing pictures I had already sketched. *shrug*

This is a reworking of an older composition of mine. This version came out much better! I'm keeping the old one in the archive here for an interesting comparison, and the original now resides with Taj.

Here's a lion couple. They're not anyone in particular, just some lions... They're wearing hyena skins. I like hyenas, but real lions don't so much. :) And the male has a weapon made of a hyena's rib. I'm not too happy with the female's face, but the rest of it is good I think. So here it is.

Random lionman I drew. He looks kind of old and sad. One of the more realistic things I've been drawing lately. Yay, realism! I like realism! And I like lions! Hooray for realistic lions!

If this looks familiar, look at Lionman.jpg. :) All I did was switch it backwards and paint it with acrylics. Through this I've discovered that I'm really not too bad at painting after all. I actually did this for a project in design class. We had to make an image that used a cool color for the background, a warm color to show shadows, and a warm color to show highlights. Well, at first I used yellow for the highlights and I didn't like it at all, so now the the project is over with I went back and fixed it with white paint. And lots and lots of blending... The scanner kind of mutilated some things, like the edges of where the blue and brown meet really on't look that hard and dark. But at least you get to see it! :) I'm going to play with paint some more tomorrow, so look for more acrylic works from me!

Design class project. We had to take another person's work and transform it into an original composition, but the placement of the objects and the visual movement had to stay the same. So I took a picture by Boris Vallejo(because I have some of his art books handy) of a dragon and some fighters having a spat to a group of kitty-people toasting to their Lion god! The scan looks kind of fuzzy and lost a lot of detail but it still looks OK I guess.

We all know about genetic modification and the scientists who will break the laws of nature to make something... well, unnatural. What if these people tampered with the family pet? Well with scientists creating glow-in-the-dark fish and rabbits, it's only a matter of time before they start doing the same to cats and dogs...

I want a pet velociraptor. I drew this while watching Jurassic Park. Of course the raptors in there are pretty inaccurate, more like utahraptors than velociraptors. And if you notice at the beginning they're digging up a "velociraptor" skeleton in Montana, but velociraptors didn't even live in Montana, they're from Asia! This is the scientific version, only 3 feet tall with feathers, and Asian(but the Asian part isn't so obvious). Okay, maybe he is a little too big since I'm 5 feet 5 inches, but still so cute. :) And if you're wondering, yeah, I am kind of a biology nerd and I tend to yell at movies a lot if they have inaccuracies about animals. :)

Possible tee-shirt design for the animal rights group on campus. Such an angry sheep. Well sheep are my favorite "farm" animals(followed by chickens, and then cows). They're so soft and wooly. I was actually able to get this done pretty quickly. Drawn with micron pen.

Here's the best thing I've ever drawn, EVER! Intended to color this in Photoshop and use it on a web page (if i ever get one), so I never really intended to shade it too much, but things kind of got out of hand and I ended up spending at least 3 hours on it. If you're an artist, you may know what I'm talking about. Still going to try Photoshop-ing it, so it's still a work in progress. Anyway, this is my cute little undead puppy. His name is Patches. Go on, pet him! He likes you. Just don't steal him, he's (C) me, the Chewtoy.

Wheee, I'm done with this one. Finally! I've been working on portfolio stuff for college(going to Fredonia State in NY, if anyone lives near there or is interested...) which is probably the only reason I made time to finish this. Anyhoo, image and character (C) 2002 "Squeaky" Chewtoy

My sweet little undead puppy, Patches, in digital portrait form! I'm about as proud of this as I was of the original picture I drew of him 6 years ago, when it was my best piece at the time. :) Eventually I'll do one of these for all of my characters.

It's the Gay Pride Faerie! Umm, yeah. Vixen with big rainbowy wings. As for why she's saying "Moo," it came from a conversation with Java, and he's insane, and he said someone he knows said "All animals say 'moo,' they just do it when no one's around." Yup.

A muscular kitty man I drew who looks vaguely puma-like. I think I really got the feline facial features down in this one! And I don't even recall using a photo reference. Muscles aren't bad either, think I looked in a drawing book for those....

| Image: raptorgryphon.JPG
836x496 57715 bytes 2003.04.01
This is my neat little raptor gryphon. I fugured, gryphons are half bird, and raptors are pretty close to birds though evolution, so a raptor would make for a great gryf! Look, I even made him feathery! I don't usually do that with raptors but it does make it look all cute and cuddly... even if the face does look like it's going to ite someone's face off. And I've gotten questions on why this gryf has no wings. Well when you think about animals, birds' wings are in the same spot where other creatures have front legs or arms, so a raptor would simply have arms there. See, I paid attention ib biology class! :)
