Common Household Chemicals 12

Three years later, I finally get around to finishing comic 12, part 2 in the paintball series. Will I continue with it? I dunno! I'll consider it a miracle if I get to comic 13.

Hope you enjoy this one! It stars a new character to the series and is based on a very good friend of mine, Jason. He's an awesome dude. I hope to do more strips including him.

I think I started this long before Halloween of '04. As much as I enjoyed using color in this comic, I don't think I'll be using color like this again anytime soon. At least not in my comics.
Anyway, I've been working on this so long, I'm not even sure if the joke is funny anymore. Hell, I'm not even sure it's really a joke.

I'm curious to see how well this comic stands on its own without my comments...

I started working on this so long ago that i forgot the description i was going to write for it...

but anyway, Kato and I came up with a start of a story for the strip. Originally, I thought the idea was pretty funny, but I'm not so sure now. I guess we'll see where it goes from here.

It seems the only way one can get better making comics is to just keep making them and learn from the experience...

Here's ~pachwork's waterdancer picture with an outfit based on Rikku's samurai outfit from FFX-2. I'm not really a fan of FFX-2 per say, but i think the fashion design in it is awesome.

This comic is based on a pic my roommate, Dave did a while back. Neither of us are fans of Hamtaro and frankly we're baffled by how so many are drawn in by his cuteness despite how retarded the show is. It's like the writers take real situations and dumb them down for kids to understand them.

Also, anytime someone finds Cafepress.com on their own for the first time, i notice they get ideas like this...

I've been reading a lot of online comic strips, and have noticed that the majority of them are about a couple of guys that just sit around and play video games. Don't get me wrong, i really dig those other comics. I just don't want my comic to turn into that. And neither does Zapf, apparently.

Eh, i thought the idea was funny at the time...

So i finally finished it... god damn that took forever. Once i get the hang of doing webcomics, i think i'll churn these out much faster. I'll probably upload a colored version of this later, i just wanted to post this as soon as i got the drawings done. I like how my inking style changes half way through the comic...

Anyway, Seven and Zapf have cats now. Cats are a double-edged sword. Sure they're cute and fun to play with and snuggle and whatnot, but sometimes they break shit and shit on stuff...

I dunno if i'll keep the cats in the comic series, but i had to create this one. It's dedicated to Jeff, Penelope, and Mr. Tuffy.

Common Household Chemicals #4
Titled "Adaptation and Futility"

Okay, most people that read this tend to misinterpret it. It's my personal spin on the opening dialogue from the movie "Adaptation," starring Nicholas Cage and written by Charlie Kauffman.

Now i don't really hate my art, so don't take this the wrong way. And i'm not lonely or depressed either. I just thought it would be a funny comic, that's all. Besides, as artists we all have passing thoughts like these.

Anyway, i hope you enjoy this one. There will more to come!

i had fun with open canvas last night.

i think having a tire swing would be fun too.

i spent my Easter at the video store. it was such a slow day...
to keep myself amused i doodled this. i colored it in photoshop when i got home.
bored bored bored...

this is about as cute as i was willing to get with Seven... i don't think i'll use this for my deviant ID like i had originally planned.

If i could go back and redraw this, i wouldn't make his shoulders so wide, his feet so short, and the pose so boring.

More fun with household chemicals when Zapf speaks his mind. Freedom of speech doesn't mean you're free to say stupid things freely... or something.

If you haven't seen the movie Swingers yet, you should. Go to your nearest independent video rental store and pick up a copy. Don't go to BlockBuster! They suck dog balls.

my half of an art trade with Archetype. we both had a character named Seven so we decided to do a trade. tried some new stuff with this one. it's the first time i've done the inking completely in Photoshop as well as experiment with diplacement maps for texture.
