Forgotten Path

Ugh. A sketch that got away with me and should never've gone past the pencil phase. This thing bugs the shit outta me...but I need it for various reasons. *snorts*
So. As much as I really don't like ungulate anthros on the whole, this would be the anthro form of Nadir, one'a my Akhal-Teké characters. He sees ghosts. Doesn't know WTF to do about it yet though. Imagine what a rotten situation THAT must be.
...And yeah I know the shading's crap and so on. But I like the background at least, which is ironic because it was purely screwing around.

While the Black Spiral Dancers really have no pedigrees of which to speak, Naairachtrrl [AKA Malachai Douglas] does hail from a long line of Dancers and other Garou from the northern British Isles, many of whom are known to bear Pictish blood. It's only apropos that if he was going to do the whole "dressing up for Hallowe'en" thing, he'd go as a Scot!

...Plus this is the closest thing to a skirt he could ever really wear and be comfortable in. X3 It WAS gonna be the Douglas tartan but I didn't feel like potentially ruining the kilt, given that this was the first thing I'd coloured entirely with watercolour paints in my living memory. MASSIVE FREAKING THANKS to Dogsoul, my temporary watercolour mentor, for all his help, instruction, and insights on this tricky medium. ^.^

My mate insisted on taking over the computer JUST as I was getting ready to start sketching from a small horde of reference photos for a painting. Needless to say that pissed me the fuck off, but instead of sitting there fuming for several hours, I just packed up my arting shit and stormed off to paint.

Somehow, this happened.

sketched this out fully, shit you not, six fucking times before coming up with a pose that worked. XP not nearly as gory and horrific as i'd wanted, and i think the tower makes it way too busy, but the sumbitch is done before my deadline so i'll call it good. e_e and whilst painting the tower [you can bet your ass i used photo reference] i think i figured out the real reason the french hated the thing at first. it probably went something like this:
artist 1 - "that is one complex motherbitch."
artist 2 - "you know people are gonna want paintings of that damned thing."
artist 1 - *TWITCH* "dear monsieur eiffel - your so-called 'masterpiece' is an affront to all things good and wholesome. i hope you choke to death on a german cock."

old old old old old! early experiment with watercolour pencils that i'd never scanned due to...well, having a crappy scanner. that and being embarassed that what i'd THOUGHT was black turned out to be indigo...and the horribly failed rock...and so on. >.>; i might redo this eventually.

but yeah. this was a breakthrough in watercolour work for me — turned out more vibrant than anything else i'd ever done in that medium. unfortunately i botched the balance with that tail. oh well. this one will also be sold off.

OW MY HANDS. so many layers...ungh. used a new shading method with this. it takes forfuckingever but GODDAMN wouldja lookit the results. after far too long, it's finally complete. that background? it was HELL ON EARTH doing that background. i HATE drawing architectural ANYTHING. *cough* anyway. this is the malachai again, being his smug, queeny self. the pink areas are too dark, yes, and the stairs look flat.

okay, the first one was WAY too light. something still just isn't sitting right with me, but it'll have to do. background texture stuff is for contrast — it's a mite hard to see with a pure white background.
mebbe i'll do away with the lighter underside altogether for the wolf form.
