Cup o' Love.
Nothing hits the spot on a cold winter day like a hot cup o' love: cocoa, cider, coffee or tea.
My entry for January's equinexchange: Dogsoul's mule gelding Mavado. This might be the last exchange I get to do for a while so I wanted to make it a good'un. Was going for an Art Nouveau type thing with the steam...considered darkening the ends there but methinks it'd look too much like smoke then...? And yes that's supposed to be the Heartless emblem on the mug.
Heehee. His mane's in need of a trim. X3
Pens and markers on some funky-textured cardstock [which is why the background's noisy: I couldn't get rid of the texture without obliterating a LOT of the colour, sorry!!].

ACEO: WolfPearl
My entry for December's ACEO exchange, this time for WolfPearl of her persona by the same name. I think I levelled up on this one...Kyle will know what I mean. As cliché as this sounds the scan honestly doesn't do it justice. It's gonna be really hard to part with the original.
...I freaking love her eyes. :D Didn't touch them with pencil — that's pure paint.

My entry for the first-ever [November] round of Crescentmoon's ACEO Exchange! My partner was Alpha_Ki, who is wonderfully easy to draw for. That's supposed to be a beech tree.
This was done in Micron pens, watercolour paints, and Prisma coloured pencils, all on some kind of awesome ACEO stock specially designed for watercolour. SO TEENY.

The wolf is for the older of my two brothers, bearing the markings and collar of his fursona.
The scorpion is for my arachnid-loving youngest brother, whose late pet scorpion is mounted on his bedroom wall.

The armadillo is for my father-in-law, who has a "pet" armadillo that helps keep the septic system of their country home working by digging up encroaching roots. No that's not a candy cane.
The Lab is for my father, who's quite fond of chocolate Labs, particularly his "brown dog" Cocoa. Similar lettering was later added.

Borderline? ^^; *cough* Instead of buying pre-made greeting cards for our family members, I cut some bristol and illustrated them by hand.
The pig is for my mother-in-law, an avid pig collector. Sorry if the anatomy's a bit off — I can't recall ever having really drawn a pig before.
The horse is for my mother, who used to ride competitively and whose longtime nickname is "Redbird." Was so damn worried I'd botched the shading so I just kept adding layers 'til it worked out. XD

So Dogsoul became a pirate on a temporary basis [no specifics, sorry]. He made pasta during this adventure. He declared it pirate pasta. I decided it had to be drawn. X3
I don't think there were meatballs involved but I could -not- pass up the opportunity to make an FSM reference.

October's equinexchange pic: Blitzava's Dare Not, a kelpie. Not the cattle dog, the murderous water-horse fae. He gets all creepy when wet. Methinks I didn't make him skeletal enough on the wet parts. :S This was also cutting it EXTREMELY short on the deadline. Shame on me. ¬_¬; Think this scan is a lot more contrasty than the actual painting. Just a wee bit new to the actual technicalities of using watercolours. Several things didn't come out quite as I'd wanted...several things came out far better than I could'a hoped. Also, I have NO idea where his right foreleg went. D8 Was almost done with the waterfall when I realised what I'd just painted over was supposed to be a hoof. That would be my bad. o_____o;;

My submission for the first-ever round at were_exchange on LJ: Blitzava's vampire/werewolf hybrid, Radgon Lyanzi Figorti. It is never a bright idea to interrupt a vampire's meal....
This method of digital painting is entirely new to me, so I'm afraid the lighting and shading are a bit on the inconsistent side. Oh well — I really like how the victim and Radgon's mouth came out!
Created with pencil, openCanvas, and PhotoShop.

A sketchy-commission for Marc "Crevan" of his fursona, being his sexy, dominant self. That bit o' red is just a -very- small preview of what he has to offer....
His arms aren't as muscular as they ought to be and his torso perhaps tapers a bit too sharply, but I'm pretty pleased with the fur texture and the circlet in particular.

this month's theme was autumn [my idea, woot!] and this character, magic [as in that's his name], is/was apparently stuck in this interdimensional gateway thing, so i tried to suggest that his surroundings were unreal, immaterial...illusions floating in a void.
the end result just looks kinda messy but oh well. :P

this came about from ruminating on beerhorse's username, a few things in her gallery, and the origin of the clydesdale — which is scottish, in case you hadn't gathered as much. X3 she has a teeny head and manhands, but i'm in love with the shading. not bad for my first horse anthro.

He's...leaning against a wall or something. ~^; Regent Shaw's sketch meme thingy for FA. I've always loved the confidant, near-manic little smirks with which this character is usually portrayed, and I tried to tap into that a little. Iunno if it succeeded. *shrugs*
Actually timed this one. Just under two and a half hours.

Yay twisty bodies! This'un's for Cur, a quickie of her namesake for the sketch meme at FA. My apologies for taking a few liberties with the details -- call it stylisation? ^^;
Clearly I have a long way to go with mastering this fur technique. Getting the hang of the process itself; next will be learning to show depth and modelling with it [which has always been a problem for me with textured works >_<], and then getting the actual lengths right.

such a sorry little thing at this resolution. ;A;
my half of a long-due trade with ratrina. *dies* this is easily the single most ambitious piece of artwork i've done in my life. this motherfucker is monumental. it pains me to have to show it at such a dinky resolution — originally it was 2400x1800 at 300dpi, weighing in at a staggering 62.4MB filesize.
with that in mind, there's a 1280x1024 wallpaper version, which is 50% resolution. please give it a look-see. the detail is tremendous....

truth be told i'm kinda iffy about the whole thing. :| on the one hand i'm thrilled to death that the rock doesn't look like a deformed ottoman; on the other hand, the composition is shaky at best and the style is terribly inconsistent. bleh. anyway, hope there's no major errors as far as character design goes....
