have you ever been wandering around, alone, in a strange new place...take a wrong turn...and by pure serendipity, discovered something truly wondrous?

trade || a "chimera" huseman

had a LOT of fun with this one...really cutting loose with the art. going for a chunky, vectory feel [á lá ashryn & monsieur le eh]. plus i've sortakinda owed 'mera my half of the trade for...um...overayearnow. *cough* oh and by the way...the critter upon whose blood he's feasting? in life it was A CUTE LITTLE FUZZY KITTEN. >:D

trade || reno maxwell [vcl: the-inimical-priest]

i've owed this to reno for...ever. x_x changed designs at least three times due to various problems. not 100% happy with this [i wanted to cel-shade it, dammit!], but i must say, SPOON PEN RULES.
also! i know the title makes little to no sense in translation. :P it's a pun on the rammstein song "du riechst so gut." dude's name if vulf richt. ...yeah.

waow. this is what happens when you pay the same kind of attention to the background as to the figure, rather than bs'ing your way through it. unfortunately my eyes began to hurt like blazes so i kinda...well...bs'ed the last bits of the bg.

pose based on an old photo...vastly different from my original concept sketch but i think it works. ^.^ also the first piece i've ever done using oC 4.03e+ which is SO DROOLWORTHY!! and yeah, i know that there's a weird bit o' difference between the top and bottom halves...that's because i had to restore the sketch from a screenshot at 1/3 size after oC decided to randomly close the file. T_T yay.

am gonna try to add a background as well. we'll see if oC will let me. >:S

spirit characters kick ass. you can do all sorts of fun stuff with 'em. like have 'em jump out of a plasmic-drippy vortex o' gooey blackness into someone's mind to turn a dream into a nightmare. which is what he's doing here. >:3

i could have SWORN i'd uploaded this here. 0_o my half of another obscenely long-overdue art trade, this one with nelena dis'kai, using old lineart and new techniques. largely inspired by leks bronks. it seems i left his earrings out by mistake. d'oh!

glass_dance__simple.jpg

a just-for-fun entry to kettensäge's contest, the theme of which is "magic in the snow." been wanting to do this sort of thing for a while — a scene in faux-stained glass style. as the filename suggests this is the simplistic version. there are two others in the works: one in which each of the "panes" is textured, and the realistic version upon which this one was based.

when i first saw this character i thought of her in motion. twisting, swaying — dancing. admittedly this stems from my own fascination with exotic, especially tribal, dancing...but something so primal seems to fit her, being a dragon and all.

any single still image is foredoomed to failure when attempting to convey dance, much less do it justice, and as predicted i'm afraid this falls short of the graceful motion i first envisioned...it seems static, stiff, and for that i apologise heavily. she also doesn't really look very feminine so there's two apologies. *sighs* ah well. congrats, and i hope this pleases at least some small bit.

last one for a while [out of upload allowance, hah!]. tried to get the blue light to show up on the white fur but it was a no-go. rahr to white fur!

horribly long-overdue trade with reno [http://vcl.ctrl-c.liu.se/vcl/Artists/The-Inimical-Priest/] depicting his character devon. the linework pleases me...even if it's far more of a close-up than i'd planned.

so we've come full circle. i've pretty much abandoned dA and the recent bs at sheezy just leaves me feeling empty and betrayed. it's gonna be frickin' may before i can upload new work, too. ~_~;

anyway. landmark piece in the use of opencanvas. the shading is kinda blah, and there are numerous other problems, but arist liked it so nyah. two characters from his "angel down" story. read it! http://ravensmuse.deviantart.com/

My half of an art trade with DA's SpiritWolfen depicting her were, Spirit Wolf. For those of you unfamiliar with the spirituality of the Plains and Western American Indians, burning a smudge stick made of sage is a part of a cleansing ceremony to purify the mind, body, and spirit. To me, an "unclean" soul is one that has become bogged down with the dirt of the material world — things called sin — and one that is steadily becoming shackled away from the spirit world. To cleanse one's soul is to set one's self free.

so, 'tis muffinbutt and my mate, each of whom are © to themselves. funny, the drawing itself took no more than ten minutes from sketch to ink (in blue, as it happens, but i desaturated it, ha!) while the fucking BACKGROUND took several weeks...i blame ursula vernon for her tutorial. blah.

from left to right: reirei as dreamswyld; joe; ox_of_ice; korde; kat; and chimera. don't bother trying to analyse it or anything, 'cause i determined their order with a d6. else i'd've ordered them to where their colours balanced or something. and *sobs and hides* i tried to make all of you look good, but there are so many mistakes...ah hell with it. i wanted to put more of my friends in there, too, but either i have no clue what you look like or couldn't figure out where to put you...but i love you all. (i'm such a sap.)
i felt compelled to draw kat with a smile 'cause she deserves some extra cheer....

Final Product! Woo!
My half of an art trade with writer Damion St James, as you should well know by now. That's his character, Ishanka (copyright to him, of course). Oofah. I am very proud of this one.

I know it's huge, but if I'd made it any smaller, a ton of detail would've been lost. THIS IS NOT THE FINAL PRODUCT. I still have to do the backgrouns, and /then/ it will be complete.
Anyway. This is Ishanka, a greyhound-morph from Damion ST James' book-in-progress titled "My Human Kuni;" if you're wondering, his half of the trade was a delightfully savage short story. I think I fucked over the coat. Goddammit. But I do so love those boots.
Pen on computer paper, coloured in PSP and Photoshop.

Part of an art trade with CloudLeopard; this would be the so-called "more complex" version with an actual background, though it didn't quite work out the way I had planned. Reya, for the record, is an Eohippus (yes, the title is a pun).
Pencil/pen/Photoshop. Reya is © her creator. And like an IDIOT I had her name misspelled, but I've fixed it.

Inked stage of my half of a trade with the wonderful author Damion St James. This is Ishanka, his albino greyhound-morph, in an illustration for Damion's work-in-progress titled "My Human Kuni" (my apologies; the original title given was incorrect). I think I might re-scan this at 75% size (this is 50%) for the colouring, because there's an obscene amount of detail here. I designed everything but the boots myself!

Blah. Compression made this icky. Anyway, this is the third and final installation of my triple trade with the Inimical Priest. Rensis and Jeffu in the middle of something. Hmm...Jeff's got a feather stuck in his hair...I wonder how that happened? =^_^=
Pencil, pen, Photoshop, & PSP. Much fun to do.

Part the second in a triple trade with the Inimical Priest. This is Forensic Tarnish, an Irish Mafia tough type, and whatever that rat-morph in the background did I do not envy him one bit. Your imagination can take it from there.
Ugh...now d'you see why I don't draw tools often? So the hammer is well-worn. Or something.

Image: Until_the_Break_of_Dawn_-_Simple.jpg   450x625 91747 bytes 2003.11.06

Part of an art trade with CloudLeopard; I'm also doing a more complex version with an actual background. Reya, for the record, is an Eohippus (yes, the title is a pun).
Ugh. She has too much hair, not enough streaks, and her head is too cervine. On the other hand, the shading marks an enormous step up for me artistically.

First of three trades with The Inimical Priest. This is his...uh...character, 403 Error. I don't know much about him but I'm absolutely in love with the idea of him travelling through binary code.
Hey! Look! His hair doesn't suck! And whoot for shiny leather! Lilith learned many things whilst doing this.
