Soviet Speed Poster 1934
It's been quite some time since I last posted\r\nany artwork up on here.\r\n\r\nSome artwork I designed for the recent "Speed Week" on Spontoon Island.\r\n\r\nI'm shocked at how long this piece has been in the pipeline.

Mottenfest's Birthday Pic
Here's a little something I rustled up for mottenfest:\r\nfor his big day a while back\r\n\r\nIt took me about a fortnight to get this done (on-and-off with some other commissioned work I'd been doing then.\r\n

The Spirit Of Speed
A project I started a while back, that I completed, just recently.\r\n\r\nI was beginning to think I'd never get this finished.\r\nI had previously submitted a few different versions of\r\nthis piece in various stages of its progress.\r\n\r\nI drew my inspiration for this from the work of the\r\nItalian Futurist artist, Tullio Crali (1910-2000)\r\n

Batty's Last Stand WIP
It's my take on the beginning of a great\r\nscene, from probably one of the greatest\r\nfilms of all time-Blade Runner!!!\r\n\r\nIt's been quite a hard slog, so far.\r\n\r\nBR (c) the Ladd Company/WB, 1982/2010.

One Lowdown, Dirty Rat
A little piece I did in Harmony.Since \r\nI got my Wacom A4 tablet, my Harmony\r\nwork has come on in leaps and bounds!!\r\n\r\nI also tweaked it a little in Photoshop.\r\n

Please excuse the rather lame title. It has very little to do with the original Miyazaki series (even though that's what inspired me to do this)\r\n\r\nI quite like the "antique" look created by the coffe-wash.\r\n\r\nI'm in two minds on whether or not to add a few washes of colour to define certain areas of the drawing-what d'you think?\r\n\r\nAny feedback greatly appreciated.\r\n

As the city burns
Man, I'm really finding my legs with that graphics tablet!\r\nTo begin with, you sort of have to look at the screen as though you're actually drawing on a sheet of paper in front\r\nof you.
1280x585 188041 bytes 2010.06.25
Another experiment with my graphics tablet on Harmony.\r\nI reckon I could get the hang of this!\r\n\r\n(P.S-when I get the chance, I'll crop this down in Photoshop)\r\n

Sandy In Harmony
A little Harmony doodle of my spaniel gal, Sandy\r\n\r\nIn spite of the lack of features, Harmony is quite easy\r\nto use.\r\n\r\nSany (c) Stuart McCarthy, 2005/10

Saluki In Harmony
Recently, I happened to be browsing on FA and found a sketch done by Soundhound, with the free drawing tool, Harmony. I thought I'd give it a whirl.\r\n\r\nThis is one of my first attempts.

Set The Night On Fire
This is a follow up to one of my older pieces ("Rose Of The High Seas" from 2005)\r\n\r\nI had the idea for this piece at the back of my mind, for some time. I think you can guess where I filched the title for this pic from.\r\n\r\nThis is also my second attempt at using Prismacolor markers.\r\n\r\nImage (c) Stuart McCarthy \r\nSophia (c) Stuart McCarthy, 2004/10

Gestural Hospital Sketch 2007
Near on three years ago, I was in hospital.\r\n\r\nTo pass the time, I would draw some sketches of the\r\nother patients on the ward. I decided to suggest the figures through loose, gestural lines. This is probably the loosest of the bunch.

Rejected Varanid Logo Design
This was the first of a number of design of designs I created for a website logo. The site owner I was doing it for has a website that sells handmade gifts. I knocked off a number of designs for them to choose from. Unfortunately, neither of the designs I made were accepted-all that bloody hard work for nothing!! I'd be lying if I said I wasn't miffed about it :(

The Face Of Evil
At one point, my art was going through a bit of a "cubist" phase. This is another example. I started and completed this in one night. I would like to take my digital art a step further and produce proper "painted" pieces.

1940 Mercury Lead Sled
\r\nThis particular piece is of some significance to me because there is one particular DA artist whose digital work has been a great source of inspiration to me greatly. He is Yankeedog. He and I share some of the same interests (in particular, classic American cars)\r\n\r\n this isn't a valentine's day pic. I just had that particular idea for the background in my head. I am quite pleased with the way the "metalfake paintjob" turned out.\r\n\r\nAll in all, I think this piece has some good composition to it.

Stylized Portrait of Sophia
I had the idea for this piece in my back of my mind for a while. A stylized pic of my Ibizan character, Sophia. I've used the "pinstripe" style in a few other works of mine.\r\n\r\nRendered in Adobe Photoshop CS2.\r\n\r\nSophia (c) Stuart McCarthy, 2004/10.

48 Buick Kustom
Recently, I treated myself to a set of\r\nPrismacolor markers.\r\n\r\nThis is my first-ever attempt at using them.\r\nThey will take some getting used to.\r\n\r\nWith this little exercise, I was trying to\r\nvisualize how I would customize a car\r\nsuch as the '48 Buick Roadmaster\r\nsedanette. My inspiration for the\r\nlook of the headlight clusters came\r\nfrom those found on quitle a nnumber\r\nof Hooper-bodied cars of\r\nthe early-mid 50's.

1937 Speed Week Poster
I had done a previous version of this poster design, but I FELT was lacking a little something, so I decided to make certain parts of the image look more "three-dimensional".

A pic of my chara, Sophia, hitting the beach. \r\n\r\nRendered with graphite pencil and watercolours.
