At the zoo the other day, a bunch of kids were mocking the tapirs for being so strange looking - but I think they're rather cute! =)

A picture of one of my mate's characters - Tatiana, the cabbit. She's much more cat than rabbit, but she has a lot of bunny in her personality.

New coloring experiment on this one - I layered gray pencils over white dapples, then smoothed it all together with a light gray Priama pen. It's a neat effect that left just a little fur texture! I like it. =)

Over the weekend, I was notified that someone had stolen a piece of my art. I was horrified, but everyone has been so nice in solving the problem - so I did a little thank-you note for everyone from Lofty-Bearing! You guys rule! =)

This may be a first - this dragon is actually my car! IRL, The Ick is a 1985 red Buick Skyhawk (look, I'm poor, OK? ;)), that originally said 'BUICK' in big, silver letters across the trunk. It was missing the U when I bought it, though, so I pried off the 'B' and christened it The Ick.
I've never been able to decide whether Ick is male or female - I think shi's both, actually. The Ick is really a sweet and loyal little car, but getting up there in years, and rather cranky if things don't go her way. If I give hir cheap gas, for example, shi attempts to spit the gas tank out. ;)
With a car with such personality, I thought it was appropriate, if eccentric, to draw hir as a fantastical creature. =)

I saw this guy in the clouds the other day, and developed a whole story for him. At the end of each day, the Cloud Herder gathers the souls of all the creatures who have died that day, and escorts them to the next world. The souls swirl into a giant spiral before dissapearing. I'd like to paint this, perhaps in watercolors...
I stare at the sky too much. ;)

Toasting Marshmallows

A little fox toasts a marshmallow over the campfire. Do you like yours browned, or burnt?

As with the rest of this series, the gray stars are actually sparkly, and there are sparkly highlights in the campfire as well.

<squeal> My brandie-new cha, Ularoo! I love her so! An image of her popped into my head while I was falling asleep one night, and I sketched her before I lost the thought. Her name, "Ularoo", is the Australian aboriginal word for Ayers Rock. Ularoo is a complicated mix of several Aussie species, including feral cat (hence the muzzle and toes), kangaroo (hence the big thighs), bat (ears), and Tazmanian tiger (hands and stripes). I think there's some more in there, but I'm still working on figuring out her lineage.

Ularoo and Fire meet! This may be the start of a series of pics with the two of them. =) The more I draw Ularoo, the more her personality develops...And the more I realize that between them, Fire and Ularoo are all the things I like best in myself, and everything I want to be. It may be an inadequate drawing, but it symbolizes a lot to me...

I decided to throw some horse into Ularoo's ancestry, to explain her extra-long tail and hair. I think her great-grandparents were a furry bat and a furry feral cat, her grandparents included that offspring and an anthro kangaroo, and her parents included a wild Tazmanian tiger.
But that's subject to change. ;)
