Back in the Old Days

The younger generation always has such new-fangled ideas!

A quick sketch of some yellow-billed hornbills. I don't think many birds make a better crotchety old man than a hornbill. ;)

Totem: Hyena

A spiritual piece inspired by contemporary african artwork.
Spotted hyena, striped hyena and aardwolf.
To me, hyena is a symbolism of the dual nature of male and female and a blurring of gender lines and roles. I included both masculine and feminine imagery, integrating the two to highlight this aspect of the totem creature.

Eastern "Earth" Dragon Mug

Here's a collage of the dragon mug - you can see a detail shot of it in my gallery.

This mug is about 5" tall and 4" diameter. The paints used are a special porcelaine paint that, once fired, are just about as durable as the cup itself.

Mbala LOVES jackalopes!

Just a very quick sketch to tease my husband. I'm kind of a packrat and one of the things I have that drives him most crazy is a little furry jackalope I bought in the SW years ago. He wants me to throw it away, but it just keeps ending up various places in the house.
Like perched atop his computer desk.

Mbala's Mug - Binturong

A birthday gift for my husband, Mbala, who is the best husband (and binturong!) ever! And he likes tea.

I painted this using special ceramics paints. They fire harden so they are rather durable. The actual mug is about 5" in diameter.

Pronghorn Rattle

A custom rattle for Jadewolf, who has an affinity for pronghorns. Deer rawhide/leather, pied crow feathers (which are non-native and legal), glass beads, and coyote fur. It is a round rattle with dried corn inside and has a really fantastic sound to it.

Moonfang

A gift for my friend Goldenwolf of her character Moon Fang. Sabre tooth tigers are very sexy!

Sacrilicious!

I can't help it. Veiled chameleons remind me of the pope.

Natasha's Vulture

Vulture medicine teaches us to trust in the universe to provide for us; that if we follow our true path we will be taken care of. Vulture people tend to be resourceful and fully developed in the skills that they possess. Mess seems to follow vulture, but in fact vulture follows mess. They are excellent at the ‘cleaning up’ of problem situations – whether they are emotional, physical, or spiritual. Whatever the mess, trust a vulture to have an efficient, effective solution to it.

Though it gets a bad reputation, the vulture doesn’t cause chaos, it cleans it up. It makes the best of any situation – even those that seem unpleasant or horrible to other people.
