I sculpted this mask out of plaster taxidermy mache (very lightweight and strong), painted it, and feathered it by hand. It is a completely wearable mask. It is very large, covering the head, neck and shoulders, with feathering to spill down the back and chest. The original mask is for sale, and will be in the MFF 2004 art show. Next Generation - 14

This is probably the most sort-of fan-arty thing I've ever done. ;)
I always envisioned Nanaki to be more of a fire-lion creature, so here is an inspired son of that concept. I'm not much of a gamer, but FFVII will always hold a special place in my heart.
Painting this one in between working on badges and other projects at the moment. :)

Sofawolf Conbadge

A commissioned badge for the great folks at Sofawolf Press.

January 2008 4″x3″ Acrylic.

This custom piece is a small shield inspired wall hanging. I hand-wrapped the hoop with buckskin leather and then stretched and laced a small rawhide circle for the middle. The glyph is my squirrel glyph, and the entire thing is about nine inches in diameter.

I was itching to adorn this little shield with feathers and fringe, but the people who requested it have cats that they say would never leave it alone! So I shall have to make a few more to quell my urge to fuss with adornments.

A tengu; a half-avian half-human creature out of Japanese lore. Sumi ink on rice paper.

A custom tagua pendant commission of a thylacine (tasmanian 'tiger'). It was really fun to do, I've never drawn one before and they are very neat critters.

Totem: Hyena

A spiritual piece inspired by contemporary african artwork.
Spotted hyena, striped hyena and aardwolf.
To me, hyena is a symbolism of the dual nature of male and female and a blurring of gender lines and roles. I included both masculine and feminine imagery, integrating the two to highlight this aspect of the totem creature.

Fire and Ice Phoenix Card

A card image for the 'Pathfinders' totem card set.

The 'fire' phoenix is a commonly recognized symbol that, to me, represents external events in life. Destructive forces that lead to re-creation, 'trial by fire'. The shadow or ice phoenix represents a more internalized process in which the events that take place may not seem so catastrophic on the outside, but leave the person drastically changed inside themselves.
