Now we have a completely new scene. I know you guys miss Bors' and Sabby's stark nakedness, but we'll get back to them shortly. Here we have... a needle... and a woman sleeping... and a gun... and a 5 year old girl with a teddy bear.
What does it all mean? Well, it'll make sense in the next page. What I was going for was a juxtaposition of scenes that offsets the adorable child asking for a glass of water with the terrible notion of drug abuse. In addition, a healthy dose of foreshadowing, just looking out the window in that second panel as the dark, stormy rainclouds roll in to shatter the peaceful slumber of the denizens of Thalland City.

Bors gives his wife some food for thought. I'll let you judge what she's feeling from her facial expressions.
Think about recent events for a second and remember that Bors is a man who was born in a time where war was fought with sword and chainmail. In Canada, he saw warfare evolve from swords to muskets to rifles to cannon to tanks. And now this is what he is facing, essentially domestic terrorism. It's very new to him and dare I say the rest of the world.

On this one, I was more courageous with the use of highlights, so it is shaded more heavily than the previous page. I think it looks better in my opinion.
Went wrong in a few places. I can see where. I did the sketch for this a while ago. And I apologize for the size of the text. I'll see what I can do to improve it for page 3.
And a teaser for RS V: Operation Windfrost. There's gonna be a lot of references from the 5 previous stories. If you find any of this conversation confusing, check out my characters' backstories on my website. It should give some insight.

The first page of my graphic novel... The Ruferus Saga IV: The Lesser Arcana.
Dateline: Thalland City, Thalland, Ruferus... Present Day. 3:43 am.
This page finds Bors Fortinbras looking out into the Thalland City night, smoking a cigarette, while his wife Sabine sleeps soundly, until she awakes and implores him to come back to bed. Whatever is keeping Bors from sleeping?
