Pretty simple line art, but I like how I feel when I look at it. I quoted a line from the Flaming Lips' "The Spiderbite Song," although it's hardly an original thought. I was still re-learning cursive, as you can see. Hmm... yep. 1-23-02.

This is based of a sketch I did of Rea when she was posing on her bed in her Chinese silk pajamas. This was originally going to turn into a picture of her cheetah fursona, but for whatever reason that wasn't working for me, so I made the figure an anonymous squirrel of some kind (maybe a grey squirrel with Abert ears). I colored it with pastel and a lot of smearing. 1-12-02.

This was a request I did for someone - it was five years ago and I don't remember who it was. I just remember getting an email asking for a red female dragon, and this was the result. 12-27-01.

I did this right after the "red" picture. I loved the vivid colors and abstract backgrounds, and decided to do another in a different palette. The image was inspired by "Blue" by VAST - not one of my favorite bands, but an absolutely amazing song. A verse from the lyrics is at the bottom. 10-16-01.

This is one of my favorite pieces to date. It was of my friend's kitsune character, and all I really did was get more creative with my backgrounds than I normally do. 10-15-01.

This pic had a lot of markers in it, which dramatically changed the way the scanner read it. I had to play around in photoshop quite a bit to restore the colors back to their original hue, and unfortunately it shows. Oh well. I did this after reading a short story by a friend of mine. 9-27-01.

This is off-topic a bit, but everyone I know seems to like it. It's a marker sketch of our dog Bingo. The mouse is fictional. It's just that, considering Bingo's personality, I could easily imagine a scene like this. 7-7-01.

This was a furry picture of my friend Vesta (OddHarmonic) as a weasel. At the time, her signature items were her staff "Woody" and an old hat. 2-26-01.

Another experiment with my new inking pens. I used brown ink this time. I really, really like inking, and I wish I had the patience to do more of it. 2-1-01.

Haoma, year 2001. I did this for two reasons - to try out my new inking pens and to have a reference picture of him for players I met on Tapestries. I could never really get into the MUCK, but the picture remains. 1-30-01.

This was a collaboration between myself and my good friend NeonPhog (DRBV). We had done a picture like this a year or two before, and I thought it would be fun to do a version #2 in light of our improved drawing skillz. I did the basic figure lineart, then Neon shaded it with his distinctive meticulous pencil style. 11-21-00.

And here's Haoma as a jerboa. I liked the kimono pic, and decided to go with the idea. I still haven't figured out how to draw a jerboa's face yet. Here he's got a long, pointy muzzle that looks more mouse-like to me than jerboa-like. Nonetheless, I'm definitely happy with the change. 12-15-00.

Around this time I was feeling discontent with my character being a bunny. I wanted something more exotic, more Persian. Flipping through animal books, I ran into the Jerboa, a tiny mouse-like rodent that lives in the deserts of Southwest Asia. I was immediately taken by its familiar rabbit-like ears and its bizzare proportions, complete with long tail. Before committing to the species change, I asked my sister to model in her kimono for me so I could try a random jerboa character and see what I thought. 12-11-00.

I was playing a hack of Angband at this time, called Zangband - this version offered a million different races and classes and a lot more monsters. I created a 'golden draconian' monk, and after a few hours of playing her, I thought it would be more fun to draw her. Being a monk, I figured I could stick her in an unlikely position and have it work - I like characters that defy physics, and have since done a few more like that. 11-30-00.

My half of a pic trade I did with Silva. I really like how her face turned out. I still half-assed the wings, like I always do, but all it all, not too bad. 11-17-00.

A pic I did of my friend Karak's minotaur character from D & D and some other games. 11-10-00.

A pic I did for my friend Blaze Bracard. Even though she is wearing a cowboy hat and boots 99% of the time, I felt it fitting to dress her in medieval European garb, or at least my guess as to how such a thing would look. 10-9-00.

I did this shortly after the previous picture of Tamara's family. I think I really enjoyed drawing her, and wanted to do it again, but by herself this time, and without any clothes. I'm annoyed that my symbolic backgrounds only detract from the illustration, and there is always of course room for improvement, but I was pretty happy with the image at the time. *shrug* 9-25-00.

This was a picture I did on request of my good friend J. Henning of his Tapestries character Tamara and some of her friends, an informal family. I can't remember the other characters' names, unfortunately. 9-18-00.

This came out of a random sketch. I like the introspection in it. There's something oddly comforting about seeing this guy (even if he's just a picture) contemplating his genitals in a moment of pensiveness. 8-13-00.

I really, really liked this when I did it. I think it was because a) it popped out without the usual tedium and labor, and b) it made Haoma look really buff, which I'm not. Yum... I'd do him. 7-19-00.

This was supposed to look like someone dreaming about a second person in the bed, her arm reached out to touch his/her face. It actually more looks like she's dreaming about playing violin. Ah well. As long as it's a good dream. 4-1-00.

Just a random marker sketch of Haoma napping under a tree - something that became a common motif for him in many other later renditions. I had fun experimenting with brush markers on this one. 3-21-00.

I did this after seing some anime (I can't remember - Tenchi maybe?) that had a catrabbit in it. It was a fun drawing to do - I didn't preplan at all, just doodled and got this. 12-26-99.

This was just a pin-uppy thing. Nothing too fancy. At this point I was getting in a bit of a rut - I kept on churning out the same style of art without any notable experimentation. 1-16-00.

I did this about one year after I had done my very first furry picture, also of Daisha. It was a fun way to mark my progress, which over that year had been considerable. I don't think I've worked that hard at art since. 9-4-99.

This is a picture of Haoma next to a lake. Nothing too special about it. I was really getting interested in Scottish culture at the time and started drawing Haoma in plaid and putting him in more rainy settings for a while. 8-18-99.

This is a pic I did for my friend Degaetus. I remember looking at Calvin and Hobbes to figure out how to do the tree - it might have looked better if I had been willing to do more intense colors. 7-22-99.

The first of my "good" images (although that's about as relative as you can get - Rea likes it, at least). I did this after studying and imitating some wonderful illustrations for a copy of the 1001 Nights by H. J. Ford. I love that costume - I really need to get back into classical Islamic dress and motifs in my art. 7-17-99.
