The scanned version has kind of trippy, day-glo colors. The original is a little more subdued, but to be honest, after the "oh, my eyes!" shock of the neon-blue shadows in this...i kinda like it.

Briar, a feline-ish gargoyle, in a complex and delicate finery quite at odds with her shredded ears and nicked wings. The disparity pleases me.

A commission I have been working on for a bit, brushed ink and watercolor. I am really pleased with the way it worked out, and I think I should play with firelight some more in the future! These characters have a pretty complex backstory, and that was nice to work with, too. This was a bit of a challenge: they were to be depicted in kind of a tense emotional moment, but the piece needed to be yiffy, too. Hopefully, I was able to strike the balance.
Also this piece made me draw wolverines in preparation. Yum. wolverines. ;) So these boys are (c) John Stanley, the piece itself (c) Summer Jackson.
