This was inspired by the disqualified project...more than 50% white on a sheltie disqualifies him in show. There's a very good genetic reason for that: most whites result from a merle to merle breeding, which in any breed of dog has a lethal factor with a 1 in 4 chance of producing deaf and/or blind pups. But I digress. Geordie here dosen't have that problem; he's a sable with just a lot of white! I like this character and will be drawing him again. I've noted that most of my recurrant furballs these days are girls; I need more boys in the stable, so to speak. Wuff!

Note that this is the first herm image in general, and the first Chakat, that I've ever drawn. Chakat Goldfur (c) Bernard Doove. I'm also getting happier with the intersection of ink (here brushed and with a pen) and watercolors.

Nonetheless, there was the pressing need to get from this mountain to that one, and the obvious route just wasn't going to work. Something about an army of orcs, ore something. So this was the only alternative, really. And lucky him, he'd found one. Smallish gryphon, he thought skeptically, but it was all whipcord, tendon and feather, and the claws certainly were large enough. And the beast wasn't eviscerating him; this was always a plus. The gryphon was even courteous, a bit of humor in the mad-amber, raptorial eye. "A ride?" he asked, flicking one ear thougytfully. "From this mountain to that one? Certainly, I'll do that. I get to have a ride first, though."
