Part of a trade with Silver Leopardess, this is Mitch sitting by the seaside and thinking on a beautiful New Zealand day. Mitch (c) Silver Leopardess.

OK, I am deeply aware of how truly silly this is. I can explain. For my 30th birthday, my mom got me a t-shirt with a my little pony on it ("It's even in your signature black!". I was very much amused...and actually, I like the shirt...but you have to admit, SILLY!

So I drew Jackel as a pony. And I made liberal use of glittery gel pens. I love my rump sigil, there.

My birthday gift for my partner Chris, who is a bicycle racer. Sceletal cyclist flanked by salmon, falcon and fox totems. Happy birthday, sweet boy.

Not Out

Based on reality, unfortunately. I was driving back home with my mom and brother (pictured) from visiting my grandmother and aunt, when this charming little conversation went down. Dosen't look like I'm gonna be one of those cool, 'out' chicks any time soon...

Nouveau.jpg

Anja the tigress, looking a little miffed, holding a white gyrfalcon. The backgrounds are my stab at a kind of 'nouveau' feel, which sort of worked, arguably. I think it looks a lot better in person. Oh, well. Perhaps if I color it digitally.

NVC Giraffes---giraffe and child

This is one of a series of pictures commissioned by the local Center for Nonviolent Communication, for their website.

For those who haven't encountered it, Marshall Rosenberg's Nonviolent Communication is one of the most valuable books I've ever read, and one of the few I think that EVERYONE should read. He is a psychologist who does things like conduct peace talks between Isrealites and Palistenians and then applies what he's learned to all of our everyday thinking and communication. It is a profound thing.

He uses giraffes as a symbol (although he uses jackals as a negative symbol, which dosen't meet my needs for appreciation of such a wonderful species, but I can live with it). Thus, the cute anthro-giraffes.

I love all the canines and felines and I'll always draw them, but I have loved cephalopods for years and it amazes me that I haven't drawn them...and how FUN they are!!!! This is my very first octopus drawing.

Phar.jpg
Image: Phar.jpg   403x703 54450 bytes 2005.01.20

Completely random gift art for Phar Whitewater, because she is just one of the cutest things ever and I needed to draw her. :) I took some liberties with the character---making her a zebra instead of a zebra-roo---because I wanted to do the nouveau thing with the tail. And really, the top line of that border looks straight in my sketckbook, but it sure dosen't in the scan, and my photoshop ability dosen't extend to fixing it. I want to rope a friend into showing me how and then reuploading the thing.

Working out the designs for a pair of characters, Raj and Meda, Ethiopian wolf/phoenixes. I love phoenixes. This is watercolor again, and it got a little messy with the pen I was using to ink, but I actually like it that way.
