	Image: chris_paints.jpg 650x880 124857 bytes 2002.04.05 I started drawing the male form, and it turned into a dog which began to resemble the chesapeake bay retriever version I did of my pal Chris. So I drew boxers on him (don't think he'd want to see his pee pee just danglin out there) and tried to think of a good prop to give him. He's a really kickass painter, so I put a canvas in front of him and a brush in his hand. When I think of men my age painting, I don't think so much of smudges of color all over them and their tattered, nasty 'work' clothes. I think of a demure, enraptured feeling. I mean, hey... if a guy is that into art, there's got to be something really enticing about it, right? So that's why he's got that 'I know you want to model nude for me' look in his eyes. Or something. Also used a new technique to give the allusion of fur. Chessies have this really neat, plush, rich coat. And, if you notice the headfur, the tips are bleached blondish. That's a RL reference from Chris, who got the same haircut/style and it looks tres hot.

Still on a figure-drawing kick, I used the Chris-chessie model and did this quick little drawing. 45 seconds or a minute or something like that. It's simple and slightly coy and beguiling, without sexual connotation. That's what figure studies are about (for the most part). Happy weekend!

We're doing animal essences and such, so I brought in a dog breed book for my reference, which led to picking breeds for different people. Chris was finally satisfied with being a chesapeake bay retriever, and wanted me to draw him as one. So I did, and managed not to make him a) naked or b) getting messy :) But... he's hot, so I didn't draw him with a shirt. And um.. his jeans are unzipped.
