An older piece of a swift vixen in a pretty outfit... You can tell this is one of my older ones not only because of the thick brushpen-lines, but also because it bears my cursive signature.

Dance of Five Tails

Molly Fullin dances, waving her five immensely fluffy tails about her..

Molly is copyright Databank

Acrylics on 9"x12" illustration board.

I considered inking this - but I decided to do the linework/definition in acrylics - that way I could choose the line color, as well. I think that worked out well.

Darkepaw

Chakat Darkepaw in hir bedroom aboard a starship - looking thoughtfully out at the vastness of space...

This was the first commission that I used an airbrush for some of the effects. (the spacescape outside the window, and also the glow of the lightband that goes around the ceiling).

Chakat Darkepaw is copyright hir player.

Done in acrylics and airbrush on 9"x12" illustration board.

Dragon Dance

A dragon dance through Chinatown, celebrating the Chinese New Year.

Acrylic paints on 20"x30"illustration board - the original painting will be at the Further Confusion 2008 art show.

This painting took approximately 120 hours to complete.

All of the characters depicted are my own original characters - several of them are recurring characters thoughout my artwork - including Cirrus the eastern blue dragoness, Candi the red panda, Antarctica the blue vixen, Echo the genet, Vienna the arctic roo, Kristania(Misty)the ringtail cat, and Ace the black jackal.

This is a fictional Chinatown - the building designs are my own creation - the gateway was inspired by the Chinatown gateway in London, however, and the entire piece was inspired by visiting San Francisco's Chinatown.

A commission for Sailorcoon, of a Dark Elf/PantherTaur, a slightly more attractive and cuddlier version of the Drachnid, which has a dark elf upper body, and the lower body of a spider... This particular lady bears a bow and quiver of arrows and a small dagger, accompanied by her luminescent moth familiar... The luminescence in the mushrooms at her feet reflect of her slick black fur... A fun and challenging piece, done in ink, marker, colored pencil and acrylic paint.

Echo Recording

Echo the genet, recording a song...

I got the idea from an image of Kyoko from Maison Ikkoku doing a recording session, and saw my character Echo in the same type of situation =). Its been over a year since I've drawn/painted her anyways... her design has changed a bit.

Watercolors and acrylic paints on 8"x10" illustration board.

For those who have been peeking at my new uploaded sketches, you'd have seen the gradual evolution of this drawing... and now it is done (I think... I may tweak it after I've sat away for it long enough to see errors, or to have errors pointed out to me..) Anyways, this is my character Echo the genet feeding koi at a Japanese garden.... Echo is © Kacey Miyagami.

After all the time I spent creating this piece, I suddenly don't know what to say about it. ^.^.. I'm amazed that I completed it. This is the most complex commission I've ever done - 48 characters, 18"x40" on illustration board with microns, acrylics, markers, colored pencils and watercolors. Approx. 120 hours of work.

The story behind the piece: The Chakats, family, and friends are having a great big party to celebrate the move from Earth to their new home on the planet Chakona. Characters are copyright Bernard Doove, and are part of his stories at the Chakat's Den website.

farewelltoearth_ink.jpg
Image: farewelltoearth_ink.jpg   1329x600 219186 bytes 2006.03.29

This is a work in progress - of the largest and most complicated commission I have ever worked on - at 18"x40" and with 46 characters.. (though I might be adding 2 more since the trees arent inked yet), this is 28 hours of work ^.^ whew! I'm looking forward to doing the color, too...

The piece depicts friends and family of the Chakats, who are having a "Farewell to Earth" party, in an Australian forest clearing, as they prepare to leave the Earth, bound for Chakona... Unfortunately in order to make the scan such as all the characters in the back are easily visible, it would have had to be completely enormous, so this will have to do for the web for now ^.^. I'll be starting color on this pretty soon.

Feeling Lucky?

A grey fox vixen, looking especially devious, invites you to her hotel room...

This piece was some practice for me with canine faces. Canine noses are especially difficult to draw. I love painting eyes, and making them look shiny.

This is another piece for Eurofurence - and its concept is in line with the conventions theme "The Unlucky Thirteen" - or will it be lucky?

Done with micron inks, and acrylic paints on 8"x10" illustration board.

Feeling Predatory

My favorite couple to draw, Ace the Jackal and Misty the ringtail - Misty, feeling predatory, crawls up face to face with Ace, pressing her nose to Ace's. A prelude to a kiss...

Fight for Freedom

A commissioned mock WWII recruitment poster, featuring Abe the squirrel, who is copyright his player. The poster is based on an actual WWII era poster, visible here: http://www.wwii-collectibles.com/Merchant2/graphics/00000001/uspaf221.jpg

This was a lot of fun for me, because it is a very different graphic style, and it was fun to try to draw the character in the style of the time.

Note also that the signature is dated '43 instead of '07 ^.^ Just for fun.

Folded Cranes

A collaboration between myself and Wolf Nymph

I did the lineart, and she did a wonderful job on the coloring!

This has been my first experience with a collaboration, and it was a lot of fun =) Its really interesting to see what other artists' interpretations are like, and to mix two styles in one piece. =)

The original is painted with acrylics on 11"x14" illustration board, and will be available at the art show at All Fur Fun this weekend, and both Katie and I will be offering prints =).

Inspired by Kyoko and Godai of Maison Ikkoku "Ganbatte kudasai, ne?" ("Please do your best, okay?") This is a cute couple, a skunk wishing her otter girlfriend a good day at work.. There just aren't enough sweet non sexual f/f pics out there...

A commission for Mark McCloud, of himself sitting on the hood of his car at the gas station.

I love doing pieces like this - pieces that are about real life - about ordinary places and things we can recognize and relate to. I guess he must be enjoying the recent fuel price drop =). I am, too! Can you guess what gas station he is at? Or even better - what state he lives in?

Done in Microns, watercolors and acrylic paints on 9"x12" illustration board.

gathering_flowers.jpg
Image: gathering_flowers.jpg   617x800 181538 bytes 2006.10.12

A commission for Nyghtwulf of her taur self out collecting flowers with her dragon companion Skai. Characters are copyright Nyghtwulf.

I always try to pose a new challenge to myself with each new painting that I do - the challenges here were trying to make the flowers non-standard (like, not daisies), and trying to make the forest look like more than just a row of trees. I also played more with reflected color - esp. on Skai and the saddlebags reflecting the greenery.

And the piece is done with Microns, acrylic paints, watercolors, and a little bit of marker on 9"x12" illustration board.

"Hey you! Gimme candy!"

A fennec in her homemade lizard costume, out on Halloween night gettin' the goods.... and from the looks of it, she's had a bit already, and is wired from the sugar... Few things are quite as cute as a hyper fennec....
