A clouded leopard practicing her swordplay in a rainshower...

I'm rather fascinated with Ancient China, and the artistic cinematography in Hong Kong kung fu movies set in Ancient China, such as "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon", and "Hero" - which provided inspiration for this piece.

I also wanted to really have a setting that felt real - that felt like the character was really immersed in the setting - using lighting, perspective, and the rain to unify the piece.

This was a difficult piece for me, but also a very fulfilling one, in the challenges I posed for myself. I think it is too early for me to really say how well I did at those challenges, but I think it was definately worthwhile, and I'm proud of it =).

A macro dragoness relaxing outside an inn in a small town. The building she's resting on isn't too happy ^.^,... The roof is being crushed, and the walls are being torn apart by her rear facing toes. ^.^ I guess this is as gentle as macro dragonesses get, though that horse may want to take a few steps forward =). A commission sometime last year - character is © respective owner. =)

Kassandra the tigress, dressed totally 80's.. ^.^ Being a child of the 80's myself, the nostalgia was going on overtime creating this piece.. lots of fun ^.^..

Trying to Fit In

This is an illustration that I did for a story by Will Sanborn. In this scene, a male student finds himself at a school of Rrakith. Being the only human can make one feel ill at ease, but after an encounter in gym class, he begins to make a friend.

I just put a song on repeat (in this case it was The Taste, by Five for Fighting) and let myself go. This was what happened.

"Hey you, wanna tango?"...A commission for Gypsywolf, of her character - the shirt and the guitar were especially fun to draw...

A realistic (for me) drawing of a werewolf.. She looks soft and gentle =). I love the complexity of wolf markings - I'd do them more often if they didnt get in the way of eyebrows @.@

Xiaolian

Xiaolian the red panda, looking smug and ready for a fight, with her unique weapons... You know someone is overly confident when they go into battle wearing so little.

Her name means "little lotus". She is small, but formidable.

Year of the Rooster

This piece is my contribution to a project for the FC 2008 art show, with 11 other artists, of the 12 signs of the Chinese Zodiac.

Most of the artists were able to draw their own Zodiac sign, with only a few overlaps. I was born in the year of the Rooster - and my sign is the Metal Rooster.

So here is a Rooster in elegant Chinese robes, playing an erhu. All 12 signs of the zodiac will be displayed together on a panel at the FC artshow, so be sure to check it out if you are planning to attend.

Yukiko, a butterfly winged fennec/marble fox hybrid, posing cutely. She has little bells and crystal snowflakes wrapped around her fluffy tail, and a bells around her belly, so she jingles when she moves... and she has a purple ribbon braided into her long hair =). Yukiko is copyright Kanashimi.

This was a fun commission to do - I enjoyed the character design (especially those wings - based on a Blue Ulysses Swallowtail Butterfly) and the color scheme was definately to my liking =). I like all kinds of color schemes, but I tend to favor the blues.
