100 Proof

This was both a commission and intended as a partner piece to "Last Call". It was done in acrylic paints and airbrush on 8"x10" illustration board.

A siamese and a black mare getting tipsy at the bar doing a dance on the countertop. The bottles in this one were fun to do, referenced from Google searches on some of my favorites and some easily recognizeable bottles. Media on this one: pencil, watercolor, marker, colored pencil, acrylic ink.

Floofy snowleopard! I love snowleopard spots/rosettes =). This is an ink and graphite piece I did yesterday - cooling down after a lot of crazy perspective work ^.^

My first piece experimenting with celtic knotwork... Fairly simple, yes, but it is my first try... I designed her wing coloration to mimic stone...

Current, my electric cat character =). She is based on a non-morphic electric cat I invented in highschool, and drew often. The main carryovers from the old version are the powercord tail, and the eye-shield. The old version was less cute, not in color, and intended to look sinister. Having a plug on the end of your tail, though, just screams 'cute' to me these days. This was my first drawing of her... and it dates back to 2003. Current is © Kacey Miyagami

Daddy!

Taurger, a white tigress chakat, is being bathed by hir good friends, Chakats PittyPat and Vamp in an underground bathing grotto. Shi has been lost for over a year, and has just returned home to find shi is now a father. Awkward moment... ^.^

A red kangaroo, dancing in the nude..

Done with Micron pen, acrylic paint, and a little marker. I'm using more and more acrylics. There was a time I loathed acrylics.

Also an illustration for the Folly story, Chakat Shadowcrest is met with a vision of a Rakshan Deity.. Shadowcrest is © Allen Fesler..

The fog effects were interesting and fun. I'd never tried illustrating fog in such a way before. Done with markers, colored pencils, and acrylic paints on 9"x12" bristol

Equi-Dragon

A fennec in smoky black lingerie lays on a french couch with a single rose, and champagne and chocolate covered strawberries for two. One of my better attempts at birds-eye perspective.

A jaguar lounging in the jungle, surprised by a dragonfly that lands on her nose...

A tough and determined lioness in hot pursuit ... pun intended. ^.^,,

I drew this piece mostly for practice with perspective, foreshortening, etc.

How Does It Fit?

Chakat Windsong has lent Chakat Mythril one of hir tops - and not only is it a few sizes too small, Mythril doesn't really seem to comprehend the essential function of clothing...

Mythril is essentially from a wild chakat/foxtaur hybrid race, and prior to this scene shi was picked up aboard the ship Prometheus from hir home planet, and has a lot to learn about society.

This is a scene from a story currently being written by Gregg Anderson, to add onto the Chakat Universe. Chakats Windsong and Mythril are copyright Gregg Anderson, and when the story is available to read, I will undoubtedly add links.

Inverness the dragoness of winter, sister to Cirrus, dragoness of sky. The background for this one was referenced from a photo, though I changed it slightly for composition purposes.

Karla the bat eared fox, reclining in an open silk robe. I'd never drawn a bat eared fox, and darnit, they're so cute, I couldn't resist! A quick watercolor painting on bristol.

Ketta the foxtaur posing with a sheer scarf... my 2nd drawing of Ketta - the difference between the first and the second is amazing... but thats what 3 years will do... Ketta is © Bernard Doove. The circles on the left arent cut off in the original, but blasted scanner companies make the beds too small, and I dont know how to piece together scan parts. =P

Leanna's Swing

Leanna the fennec fox goes with hir good friends Kris the red fox, and Trina the arctic fox to a clothes-optional beach, where they seem to be having a great time. Special attention paid to Trina's summer coloration, which I hadn't depicted before, and to the texture of the heavily trafficked sand. I think it is somewhat interesting to note that the only reference photo I used for this piece was of a seagull's feather pattern.

Love in Paris

Stephanie Foster and her lover Jean Genet making love by the Seine in Paris... It is wartime, and the searchlights scan the sky for enemy aircraft. But the two lovers are lost in love, enjoying one another after a sunset picnic.

I loved painting the intricate background for this, though it was very time consuming.

A feline/clownfish mermaid swimming with two striped dolphins... I like how the cream of the feline is mirrored in the cream of the clownfish stripes (modeled after a maroon clown, actually) I also like the dark blue shadowing showing where the light rays from the surface are blocked by the characters. Chakat Midnight and Zhane the Rakshani walk happily side by side.. Midnight is not a small chakat - Zhane is very tall, about 7'2" .. which is typical of the Rakshani.. characters are © Bernard Doove.

Mizu the skunk, washing up with a soapy washcloth before a hot Japanese style bath. The background is my recreation of the famous "The Breaking Wave off Kanagawa" woodblock print by the ukiyo-e artist Hokusai.

Cirrus the eastern dragoness, warmed by the morning light, and cooled by the wind whipping through her fur... I was going for dynamic lighting and positioning ^.^...

It'd been too long since I'd drawn Cirrus, and she is a favorite of mine =). Done mostly in acrylic paints, with micron pen for outlines and tria marker for some base colors on the character... little accents as well in mechanical pencil.
