Likeshine & Angyl Conbadge Set

My half of a trade with the talented Likeshine. Two matching shamrock themed large-size conbadges, one of Likeshine and one of Angyl, looks like they each found a four-leaf clover for some good luck.

How I Make Conbadges

STEP 1: SKETCHING.

I draw on Strathmore Smooth Bristol paper, because it's great for marker/pencil work.

STEP 2: INKING.

I use Staedtler Pigment Liner pens to ink. They come in a set of 4 different widths and rarely ever smudge.
I erase the pencil underneath afterwards.

STEP 3: LAYING FLATS.

I mostly use Tria markers. I'll lay down some simple flats first. These colours will change as I shade over them. I usually lay flats that are a shade or two lighter than what I want the final colour to be.

STEP 4: SHADING / FINISHING.

I use slightly darker shades of markers and blend over the flats quickly while the ink is still wet and fresh. I also use colouring pencils to add some extra shine.
Once done, I take my pens and ink over the entire badge a second time.
