A "reaching for the sky/stars" theme was requested, and made me remember a nice memory so I was more than happy to oblige. Basically, I had never seen the milky way before moving out to California. I grew up where there was light pollution, so I was lucky to see a handful of stars. Well, shortly after I moved out here I went with a group of friends up a mountain to watch a meteor shower, and that was the first time I had ever seen the milky way. I will never forget it.

I am so happy this one is finished. I put my all into it, and I'm pretty satisfied with the results! Thank GOODNESS for the lorem ipsum generator because otherwise I would have totally lost my mind dealing with all the text.

I had started out with a lot of blues and greens but the orange of the character gave me a lot of difficulty... so I threw a gradient over the whole thing and tried again. Came out okay I think, if slightly boring on the color theory scale. Though I must admit I had a lot of fun working on this piece! :D

I had a lot of fun mixing human anatomy with the long limbs of a maned wolf. :) The scan does this piece no justice. The circle is actually copper paint, so it shimmers and looks really awesome against the character.

I spent quite a bit of time on this, but I'm pretty darn happy with the result. :3 I grew up where there were lightning bugs every year, and it's one of the things I miss the most about summer on the east coast. After seeing a few awesome photographs of fireflies on flickr, the nostalgia bug (no pun intended) bit me and I knew I wanted to illustrate fireflies real soon. And since Stripecat requested glowy themes for his pieces, it worked out perfectly. Fireflies are awesome, it does not matter how old you are. When you're a child, you have no idea how they "work" and it's amazing... but even as an adult when you know the chemistry, it's still one of the most magical sights.

Fire poi is something I've always wanted to get good at but generally fail miserably. I'm too much of a jump-around flail/dance kind of person, so I work well with stiffer mediums (fans and staves). Less burns and bruises to the face. >_> (Wearing a long-sleeved robe and spinning fire doesn't seem like the wisest ideas to me, but YOU try to tell the fennec that!)

He requested a trickster/trouble-making evil rather than malicious evil, I really hope I got that conveyed correctly. Had a LOT of fun working on this. Being on a new machine with better hardware and acquiring a new program to work in (Paint Tool SAI) has made digital painting far more pleasurable.
