Well, despite the heat I managed to do one sketch worth taking to a final drawing, and then I went on to color it in markers for a change of pace. Oh yes and once again, Ariel's hair is purple, not indigo, but the scanner hates that marker more than anything, but it's not worth mucking up the other colors for, and it looks good in person.

As for the image itself, popular belief was getting to be that Ariel was evil incarnate, or at least that's all that's focused on. I thought I had drawn a few images that might elude to the pinch of humanity that resides in her, but those ones had only showed that she does love her son Nuka, despite claims that she is incapable of loving anyone. Just loving your child, someone could pass that off as just biology. So here we go with Ariel's other little secret; yes, she does love Scrue. After all, if she just hung out with him for convinient sex that would have wore out long ago, especially considering how big of a pain he can be. So yes, there's something else going on there. I wanted this image to convey affection and tenderness, yet still have that sensual connontation that's so fitting. Seeing as someone analyzed it that way, I think it worked.

First Ruffeon, and now this! My second fan-eeveelution, Astreon! As you can tell its type is my fan type, Astral. How could such a creature exist? This is the result of infusing Astral blood into an eevee. Not seen too much, as you can imagine. ^_^

There seem to be a lot of misconceptions on Ariel's competency as a mother. I thought the fact she bothered to invest 9 mos of her time into his life at all, rather than just scraping him out as soon as she realized she was pregnant, would prove she's got some maternal devotion. She has plans for Nuka to follow in her footprints.. she's not going to neglect him to death, or have done anything while pregnant that would have messed him up to the point of being useless to her. No.. she'll take good care of Nuka in her own way, as we see in this picture. I guess it was "take child to work day", and they're on their way back home. Nuka's rather cute looking.. maybe about 5. I think this picture is touching in its own way. as well slightly creapy.

Work has been so hectic this week ~_~; I've had nearly no time to myself save for my lunch break. I sketched this during lunch break, penned it when I got home last night and colored it for a bit of relaxation and practice (I'm trying out new light sources). (BTW, haven't forgotten about that comission.. I'll be starting tomorrow.. err.. later today). Anyhow as for the picture, as four leggers, Nuka finally has a decisive advantage over Yuri! Namely that he isn't 3 inches long. Hah.. looks like it's the bug babe's turn to get picked on, and she's not to thrilled about it! Drawing this also made me decide that non-morphic versions of my characters would be the best way to show how their markings usually covered by clothing go, without having it seem odd for them not to be dressed.

A co-worker of mine is graduating from college this month. A few days back when I was showing her some of my art she asked me to draw something for her graduation party invitations. Bah.. short notice! Oh well... I still think it's okay, hopefully she'll like it. Just a couple of nameless graduating anthros posing for a photo.

Arggh!! It's been quite a bit since I posted something. I'm working so much on my game... programming is the devil.. XP but I'm devoted! However... this image is not game related... in fact.. it's kinda something I cooked up with Valentine's Day in mind. "He's so shy... that sweet little boy who crossed my mind." strikes me as the perfect way to sum up Janus... who Xenobia is quite enamored by. XP Poor, poor Peacock butt! It looks like Xeny's finally snagged him! I like Janus's expression... he looks so neverous... it properly conveys his personality... something that rarely happens when I draw him XP.

Xenobia is John Fisher's... and Janus is mine... just in case you were wondering! I hope to get this colored for Valentine's day.. ^_^

This image was always very popular, so tonight I took a handful of prismas and colored it up. Hmm.. now that I've deflowered those $300 markers I'm a little less aprehensive to use them.. well, at least until I have to start replacing them. Anyhow, as for the pic, Xenobia has finally gotten her paws onto her beloved shy guy, Janus Zephyr. Janus doesn't seem to be taking it well. Yeah... it's a bit of a Pepe Le Pew/Penelope momment. ^_~ I had better stop coloring pictures again... or else the shock will kill people!

Wee! Finally finished! This would be my second commission, of a quite handsome all black fox named Ink! He was fun to draw, and he's got cool, many pocketed pants ^_^;. I think just under two mos. isn't that bad of a turn around time, well considering I get no days of from my evil jobs. Meh ^_^;;. Well now that my commission books are clear I might post a commission auction on Furbid soon. I'm kinda curious to see what the response would be. Ink is a character of Brain McGroarty.

Well here's the CG of that Janus and Nuka picture. I'm not all that satisfied with the coloring of the background. I really want to redo the grass and walkway... but I'm not sure how, so I'll leave it like this for now. I might end up going back and doing that in Marker or colored pencil.. I'm not sure. As for the picture itself; Janus and Nuka met one day when Nuka broke into his yard. Janus has never been allowed to play with the other children in the neighborhood due to his parents' general snoodiness. When he tried to explain to Nuka that he wasn't allowed in his yard, Nuka flipped out on him, saying he shouldn't follow stupid rules like that. While Nuka shouts about how much of a bitch Janus's mother must be, the poor little boy wonders what he's supposed to do. Obey his parents? Or listen to the newcomer. It seems sometimes no matter how much you want to you just can't please everyone.

Remember that sketch of Janus meeting Nuka? Well I finally got around to finishing the penning. I still don't know what I'll do about coloring it, but for now I've got this at least. Poor Janus, all he's ever wanted was to be no trouble, and yet here Nuka is, chewing him out for obeying his mother. Yes, he didn't understand why he wasn't allowed to talk to the neighborhood kids... it seemed innocent enough, but if his mother told him not to, he should obey her. Afterall, parents know best, don't thy?

I know... "eeewwww... it's a sketch! What were you thinking?!" I'll tell you what I was thinking! I decided it's about time I take one picture from sketch to finished product in public view... and I chose this piece ^_^. As you can see.. it's just a sketch right now, with some obvious errors. Hopefully though, I'll catch them all while polishing and penning ^_~.

As for the topic.. it's a tribute to an important part of my game's backstory-- the historic first meeting of Nuka and Janus. Awww.. and look.. Janus's first scolding for being such a pushover too XP. More details to come with the inked version (after all.. I can't spoil everything at once!). I don't know when I'll be able to get that done though.

I thought that Kaylee deserved a good character bio pic, one where she didn't look like her father in drag. Hence this image was born. I tried to streamline her design, and am pleased with how it turned out. Kaylee, self proclaimed "Super Mega Babe", is the oldest child of Rikou, and a character you can recruit in my RPG. I'm going to put doing a variation of this picture (sans purple backdrop) and placing it on a cafepress shirt soon.

Just to prove I'm not entirely dead! Yes, it's character art for my RPG... I'm not really allowed to do anything but! This time though, the character is not one that has been released previously. It's the current leader of the Osiris Cult, Lazarus Gamai. He's one of the most important villians... please don't call him pretty, even if he may be.

Hey... can you guess what book I just finished reading? Well, anyhow, I had a sketch of this done for awhile, but I decided to finish it today. It's the mad tea party with some creative casting! Ariel as the March Hare, Scrue as the Mad Hatter (oh, come on, that one should have been obvious!), and Nuka as the dormouse. Aside of having the napping down, Nuka's not doing a very good job of playing his part. Not to worry though.. Scrue's going to smear some jam on his nose to help get him better in character XP. I'm going to experiement with this picture a bit... going to try and shade it with pens, then tint the whites to get the affect of the old Alice illustrations. I don't know how that'll turn out.

And I bet you thought I only CGed ^_~. Though I do like CGing, I just felt it was totally wrong for this image. I wanted to try and recreate the feel of the original illustrations, and to do that I needed to use traditional media. Despite some of the errors I made on it (and that Ariel's hair scanned blue... ~_~;), I think it's decent. Oh and for those of you who might have missed the Black and white version I uploaded... it's the Mad Tea Party scene from "Alice in Wonderland" done with Ariel as the March Hare, Nuka as the dormouse and Scrue as the Mad Hatter.

Another pic for those who doubt Ariel's maternal skills. See.. she clearly knows how to feed Nuka.. and seems content enough doing so. She's really not going to neglect him to death now.. trust me XP. If the way she's holding him seems off.. that's my fault.. I've never really held a baby before. Well I thought it'd be a rather nice little image. So my day of precious moment drawings is over... time to get down to all those birthday pics and trades ^_^;;;

FYI, yes I know... Ariel regained her figure pretty fast.. but what do you expect? She'd've kept in good shape during the pregnancy and gotten right back into training so she could be fit to return to her assassin career quickly... not to mention she's a Palaz. Excess weight doesn't stand a chance in those conditions! Not to mention she really only carries it in her legs anyhow ;p.

It's Nina the um... well it's not important what she is, so much as where she is from. Nina is from the comic strip "Unlike Minerva". It's one of my favorites and I've been privilleged enough to draw 3 weeks for it. I never got to draw Nina during those weeks though, so I did this bonus pic of her. Well it certainly has been a long time since I posted anything. Not so much from lack of drawing, but from lack of finishing. X_x; The comic hit a major roadblock when I lost everything on my laptop a month ago, but fear not! It's going to be going up on Keenspace soon. I'll also be posting some of the Master Zen Dao Meow work I've done here soon, but for now what I've got for you is a new Nuka bio pic. Hey I know, it's not much of a background, but I drew this 3 mos ago so I could have a better picture of the poor boy (his parents got all the drawing attention in the comic.) Yeah, I know, his hands should probably look more engulfed in flames, but it was a conscious decision to not do that to them. I'm not sure exactly why, but I didn't feel like having the fire do that this time. Also, I used no filters in this pic, not even my beloved pool shadow on the flames.

Oh yeah and sorry for the reupload... A friend pointed out a problem with the neck and it was driving me crazy. I'll let it go now, I promise.

Today, 7/31, is the date I had selected for Nuka's birthday. Of course being a fictious character in another world I can't possibly tell you how old he would be, so to make up for that I'll let you know that yesterday I turned 20! XD. Anyhow, in honor of Nuka's birthday I got this idea for a little 1 panel gag comic. I like Ariel's expression best, you can just imagine that she's hoping her son will get his analytical skills from her and not Scrue.

I've been spending several months trying to find a good way to convert my Pokemorph character Nuka, into a more traditional anthro. without losing his general sense of self. Meh.. well anyhow.. this is the end result.. the first sketch I'm actually pleased with of him in this form. Now.. you might be wondering what a "chimerate" is. Well.. I figured that at this point if I did a traditional anthropomorphic story I'd use animals that are a mix of various natural creatures (hence the chimera part of the name)... the ate ending just fit well. ^_^; Nuka himself is a mix of Hypsidian "high cat" (like the feline equivalent of high elves), and a Lival/Serion (a liony creature with a bit of serval and a few other impurities)... Nuka is also sporting barbs/quills on the sides of his head. I'm not sure what speicies they will be from (depends if I want to make them poison tipped or not)... but I know if they spike someone.. they won't rip out.. cuz then poor Nuka would be lop-sided!

No you're not imagining things... I actually colored something! I bet when you saw this go into the archive you figured it was doomed to a black and white life. However... it was too cute to resist so I finished it up. I think it'd make a lovely mug at cafepress, at least for me ^_^.

Work was pretty slow today.. so during my lunch break, 15, and the hour of dead time.. I did this little picture. Dave seemed too busy yelling at Watkins for talking to realize I was drawing.. but hey.. that works for me!

As for the picture... It's an older baby Nuka. Looks like he's getting his first baby teeth in (well not counting his milk fangs! ^_~). Like all teething children... Nuka likes to chew. However, he doesn't have a teething ring.. no no no.. Ariel and Scrue've given their son a piece of bone. Gotta start building those carnivorous instincts young, don't want him to become a vegetarian! ^_~

And now for your viewing pleasure (?)... some concept sketches for astral critters in my slowly progressing RPG! ^_^. It's the Pugo line! I really like the Pugol and the Pugouwyn. The Pugo itselfs scares me... and the Pugoliath which was meant to look scary... just looks stupid ;p. He needs more work. Then again.. how potentially terrifying can a creature based off of a rabbit be?

Rikou's way too cute familiar.. in color! I just love this little guy! Though not much for physical fighting... he packs a big punch with the astral attacks, so beware! But really, he'd much rather act cute ^_^. Puii's a gentle one.

Hmm... it's been so long since I've uploaded to poor VCL, because I haven't had much finished stuff recently. However, I finished this picture just the other day and thought it would be perfect for the last VCL post of 2001! I am very happy with this piece, though 3H pencils are really not good for shading (they just love to fade to a light grey everywhere). This picture came to be as the result of a dream I had. It wasn't a particularly involved dream, Ariel and Scrue were just riding on a train, and Scrue was drawing to pass the time (which I found quite surprising, even moreso that he was actually rather good.). However, this dream did leave an impression on me with just how perfectly realistic looking and alive they both appeared. I drew this to try and capture some of that mood. I hope to maybe copy this someday and color it with colored pencils, but I'm not really sure how to approach that. I like it black and white though too. Oh yes, and hopefully my comic will be starting in January.. I just need to color it. Ariel and Scrue are the intellectual property of Melissa Jewell.

Happy New Year everyone! Well I got the second half of my little realism experiment done! Ugh... this one was a pain and took even longer. However, I still pretty much like it, though I have more nitpicks with it. 3H pencils are definitely a poor choice for shading work, they fade off so quickly and smudge everything to a light grey. It made post-scanning touch up work a real chore. Overall though, still pretty good. It's the offspring of Ariel and Scrue! On the left is Nuka,the oldest, and then Leesyl and Skue, the twins. Technically Leesyl and Skue are supposed to be for RPing groups and alterverse type stuff, but they're working their evil magic on me and making me love them. Ack.. never, ever again will I create offspring characters for "fun", they just weasel their way into everything! Oh well.. at least they're cool and popular.

Argh.. sorry for the reupload. X_x; I didn't want to do this, but I saw something that was really bad, and I had to fix it or it would drive me crazy. I promise I will stop looking at this now. I'm too upload neurotic.

Another just for variety's and creativity's sake picture. This time not only has Nuka been chimeratized.. but so have his parents, Ariel and Scrue. After all... don't want him uncared for (well.. not that I actually think their presence makes him cared for.. but it *looks* more convincing.) Also this marks the first picture of Ariel I've uploaded here which fully shows the new footwear she's sporting. Cool.. but a bitch to draw. Her hands were a bitch too... Ariel is a bitch in general XP.

I've always loved to make dolls of all shapes and sizes, so it should only seem natural that I'd eventually get around to making dolls of my current main characters (I started an Ariel in February, but I hated it. Eck!). As fate would have it the first one I completed was Scrue! Sadly he's missing his interesting earrings, I'm still currently looking into what to do about that (I don't really want to punch enormous holes in his ears. The lighting in my house was particularly yellow today, but the photos are still all right, but a bit more yellow than real life. I tried to match the colors and material types as closely as I could, but after years of gathering supplies I still had to fudge it a bit. Scrue's body material is fleece, the only soft fabric I could find in that color. His brown markings are made out of velour, and the tuff of his tail is fake fur. His jacket is made out of a medium weight cotton twill, and has some sort of shiney synthetic silk lining. The sash and band of the hat are satin. The greys fabrics I can't recall and the hair is made of polysuede. Other details are made with felt, ribbon knit fabrics and ultra suede. He stands at a little over 2 Feet tall from the tips of his ears to his feet. If you'd like to see more of this character, please, read my comic at http://scrued.keenspace.com!
