I really wanted to give them a little something in return. The Night Stalker, which Trapper is riding, was part of a book on speculative evolution called After Man: A Zoology of the Future by the Scottish geologist and author, Dougal Dixon. The book is fascinating and well worth a look.

I spent most of past holidays alone and feeling despondent. Then, in 2008 I lost a very dear friend. We were set up to meet each other (IRL) in just under a month. He passed away on Christmas day. Losing him, compounded with an already miserable holiday, sends me into a spiral of emotions. I've been trying my damnedest to make this holiday enjoyable for those around me, all the while trying to mask my own frustration. Sometimes I lash out, and I'm sorry. I know he wouldn't want me to cry. I try to keep my chin up for him, because he was one of the most amazing people I've ever known. This is for you, Corporal Owens. It’ll always be an uphill battle, my friend.

I'll first admit I was very intimidated when I tried to work through this one. There's just so much happening and a lot of the characters I am unfamiliar with or fall under my weak points in subject matter. I tackled it little by little with help from some local friends who gave invaluable advice.
