	Image: sahkyo.jpg 400x507 63863 bytes 2003.01.09 Sahkyo was once a beautiful Navajo woman married to the tribe's best warrior. Unknown to her, her husband took on a lover, the tribe's shamness who was also a powerful witch. Wanting to desert his wife and yet keep the property she bought into the marriage, her husband and his lover devised a plan to be rid of the girl. One evening on the pretense of a romantic rendevous in the forest her husband lured her away from the tribe. Once isolated the man's lover appeared and cast a spell on the girl which turned her into the animal she most feared, the cougar. In terror and confusion she fled away from her betrayers and the husband returned to the tribe claiming the young girl had vanished. No trace of her was ever found and so no wrong doing could be placed at his feet. Sahkyo, for her part was cursed to roam the forests, not quite animal and not quite human. Able to shift between four legged beast and two legged were-beast but never back to human she could never go home to her people and tell them what had been done to her. Instead she watched them from afar, rage and loneliness fighting within her conflicted mind. Kust a character and story idea, the "tragic were" is not one explored very often.
