Ok, this is my entry for Dani-Kitty's contest. The theme of the contest is to draw her character in an alternate setting or universe... so I drew her as in a traditional Chinese painting.

I gave her a more human-ish face to try to fit in more with the traditional style that figures tended to be painted in. And she's a little more slender possibly than the character should be, but I whenever I tried to make her look more curvy, it ended up not looking traditional enough for my tastes. Ah well. ^.^;;

Dani-Kitty belongs to... yeah, Dani-Kitty. ;)

Ah, Anthrocon, the gift that keeps on giving. Yet another of my commissioners came through and sent me a scan of the work I did for them in the artist alley.

And this one totally made my day. This guy is the one who actually bought my "Pick a Card" print from the art show last year and this year, he came to me asking for a con badge. Unusually for a furry convention, he doesn't have a fursona at all, he just likes to get random animals on badges. So the Buddy rabbit was born. This scan in NO way does the original badge justice. It's actually silver, red, and black color pencil on black paper, so the entire thing is shiny and metallic and neat looking.

Anthrocon this year was a real blast... I didn't make as much as I normally do, art-wise, but what commissioners I did get were really wonderful. So wonderful, in fact, that when I arrived home yesterday, I found this scan waiting for me in my email inbox. This is the first time one of them has ever actually scanned the work I did for them at a con and sent it to me.

This was a drawing a very nice boy commissioned for his girlfriend, featuring his fursona in a sort of yaoi asthetic ideal. Apparently both he and she were very happy with the result, which makes ME happy.

Think I'm finally getting a hold of this gouche thing. This fox was inspired by the costume my roommate wore to the party of another student there in Chengdu. Not that it was a costume party, of course, but we decided arbitrarily that we were going to go in costume, whether it was or not.

She borrowed a bunch of my clothing and went as a gangster witch (I was a high-class house witch), complete with the hat, collar and a shiny and all too real looking silver shotgun. The costume was a big hit and it inspired me to draw it, inspired by her saucy image.

While in Chengdu, I found a whole bunch of cheap canvas board (something impossible to get here in Reno), so that inspired me to try my hand at painting again. There was a stationary store every fifteen feet there, so I walked down one day on a whim and bought some gouche. I'd never used this kind of paint before, and I'll admit that I fought with it a great deal, since I'm more used to either acrylics or watercolors... not some strange medium that was kind of in between the two, more forgiving than watercolor, but less than acrylics. *laugh*

So this was my first attempt. I LOVE how the sky came out, and I'm quite pleased with the top half of the cougar. Everything else, uh... well, it was a learning experience? ;)

Well, not only did I feel like drawing a centaur... but a female one. Every once in a while, I just feel like drawing pretty curves that *cough* uh, aren't in some pretty boy's long hair. This was a bit of an experiment, because I liked the sketchiness of the original pencil lines, so I didn't ink over them. And I'm not disappointed with the result, even if very few of the original pencil lines ended up still visible. Ah well. ;)

This was me playing with my new brush pen. Which kinda got away from me a little, but hey, the overall effect isn't bad, is it? I haven't drawn the creepier stuff in a little while and I kinda missed it. I'm thinking it might make a good t-shirt design.

junglecat.jpg
Image: junglecat.jpg   483x659 126425 bytes 2006.06.13

Ok, I'll admit, I was having just a bit too much fun with the color in the figure. When I originally drew him, I hadn't intended to make him all psychadellic pink and purple looking, but don't you ever get tired of just straight ol' yellow or grey big cats? Well, this is the, uh... rare purple and blue spotted jungle cat! Hug one today.

Yes, so I'm finally back home from living five months in China and trying to catch up on finishing all the sketches I started there, to wait for the day when I was home and once again had access to my art supplies. This one is kinda, well, I knew I had a panel in the adult art show at AC that needed filling, so I decided to try out a male nude. I forget if this was before or after I visited the gay sex street in Bangkok, however. ^.^;; Logic dictates that it'd be after, but you never know with me. *cough cough*

christmas.jpg

Ok, so this is my little roleplaying family on Furcadia, enjoying Christmas. And cooincidentally, is my first ever mildly successful group pic, so go me.

zexbookmark.jpg
Image: zexbookmark.jpg   162x486 32824 bytes 2005.12.04

This is a bookmark commission for Zexnon that's taken me FAR too long to complete. And every time I'd sketch something out, I'd decide that I hated it long before I ever reached the inking stage.

And there are parts of this that I'm not hugely pleased with, too... but it's heads and tails over everything else I'd drawn for it. >.<

tpulicath.jpg
Image: tpulicath.jpg   386x483 78298 bytes 2005.11.29

This is a gift for a friend of mine of her character on Furcadia, Tpulicath. Yes, they are both the same person, she's a gender shifter. And the male version is sporting her bleached, rutting colors. Largely ink and copic markers with little accents in color pencil.

Terzy_Conbadge.jpg
Image: Terzy_Conbadge.jpg   327x231 36612 bytes 2005.11.29

This is a conbadge I did for Terzy for a trade at AC. We ended up never managing to actually get to one another before she had to head home, but that's all right. It meant I could take it home and finally have a scanned example of what the conbadges I draw at conventions look like.

Kittrel_Button_Badge.jpg

A button con-badge commission for Kittrel.

Nova_Bookmark.jpg
Image: Nova_Bookmark.jpg   148x447 27569 bytes 2005.11.29

A bookmark commission of the character, Nova. I really do like doing these bookmarks, but they do look a million times better in person. I finally got the bright idea to go to a craft store and buy a bunch of little fabric flowers and sewed one onto the blood-red tassle.

Nova is the property of her creator.

Fighter.jpg
Image: Fighter.jpg   384x481 69140 bytes 2005.11.29

When I was a kid, the only pets my mother would let me have were fish... and they had to be hardy, cold water fish. Which gave me the choice between goldfish and the Japanese fighting fish. Guess which one I chose?

Of course, after I'd finished sketching him out and coloring him, it hit me. "Dammit... I should have drawn him attacking his own reflection!" Ah well... next time.

skunkbookmark.jpg
Image: skunkbookmark.jpg   161x491 32336 bytes 2005.08.09

This was the last in a series of four bookmarks I whipped out for the Anthrocon art show. I was in an Office Max looking for conbadge holders, when I saw this package of blank bookmarks, and I couldn't resist. The off-white color was a tiny bit annoying, but other than that, they were very fun to do.

This was the third in a series of four bookmarks I whipped out for the Anthrocon art show. I was in an Office Max looking for conbadge holders, when I saw this package of blank bookmarks, and I couldn't resist. The off-white color was a tiny bit annoying, but other than that, they were very fun to do.

This is Zexnon, enjoying one of his noxious death sticks. *chuckle* Zex is the complete intellectual property of his player. I'm just borrowing his likeness for purely devotional purposes.

Delman.jpg
Image: Delman.jpg   364x516 63738 bytes 2005.07.04

This is a drawing of my character Deiyei's slave on Furcadia, Delman. Isn't he cuuuuute? Del belongs entirely to his player, I'm just borrowing him. ;)

Naya.jpg
Image: Naya.jpg   403x514 49388 bytes 2005.05.23

This is my half of an art trade. Naya is copyright to Darcie Blanchard, I don't claim to own her or her character design.

sleepingdei.jpg
Image: sleepingdei.jpg   404x510 67638 bytes 2005.05.10

Yet another picture of my Furcadian kitty-boy, Deiyei. I really love how this turned out, I was experimenting with a softer style of coloring with the Prismacolors and it really created a nice, softer, sleepy-like look.

hero.jpg
Image: hero.jpg   426x525 77529 bytes 2005.03.30

Ok, this is gonna be my submission to the AC conbook. The theme this year is, you guessed it, "Heros." When I sat down to think of what I wanted to do, I was having a hard time not falling into the cliche trap that a geek like me is prone to fall in... by drawing yet another bat Batman or generic superhero. I couldn't think of anything even remotely original until I was sitting about, complaining about my lack of inspiration to my sister. At which point, she went, "You know... the only hero I ever had when we were growing up was Mom." And that made me do a double take, because dammit if she isn't right. Mom is STILL kind of my hero. So, I thought, who's more important to a child when he's hurt or sick? Why, his mommy, of course.

longears.jpg
Image: longears.jpg   386x510 64570 bytes 2005.03.27

*chuckle* Yet another drawing that I'll be incredibly disappointed if I don't get even one flame for the sucker. ;) Before you ask, no I'm not religious and I have no real problem with religious people (as long as they leave me the hell alone.) I've just made it a tradition to always draw my sister one of my moth-eaten bunny boys on Easter, and I love this quote from The Family Guy.

virgins.jpg
Image: virgins.jpg   367x615 38470 bytes 2005.03.08

This one was me playing around over Thanksgiving... though I've just now gotten around to scanning it. Suprisingly enough, given how much I enjoy unicorns, this is the first time I've drawn an anthro one. I should do it more often, they're fun.

rasheanddei.jpg

'Cause I think they're cute!

Deiyei and Rashe on Furcadia.

wyatt&wisu.jpg
Image: wyatt&wisu.jpg   461x581 42616 bytes 2005.02.21

Ok, this is a commission I did for Wisu on Furcadia, of him and Wyatt. I'd forgotten how long a full-blown pencil render takes me, but damn, it was fun to do.

seduction.jpg
Image: seduction.jpg   405x514 72063 bytes 2005.02.20

In the sunlit morning, surrounded by the whisper of a warm wind through long grass and trees, the lure of him seemed irresistable, his voice sweet and inviting. The little voice within him that warned of the danger, of their differences, grew quieter and quieter... until it was silenced altogether with a light touch of delicate fingers to a soft cheek.
