I've always wanted to paint something cool on the back of my biker jacket. The total working time here was about twenty hours, not including the initial sketch. This one took some time to finish, but I won't get into all the stalls and pitfalls here. The original measures 14 x 14 inches, and had to be scanned in four sections. What's going on is Syrris, the lion with the plate of fish, builds mechanical gryphons, one of which is Steelclaw there on the left. He's just given her a sense of smell, and she's checking out the scents of all the foods, while Pshaw helps herself to some stuffed mushrooms. Sept. - Dec. 2003

Collect them all! I reworked this from a marker drawing I'd done in 2001, though it's a bit late out of the gate, since they don't make a certain brightly-colored computer anymore. They all come in white now. Watercolor and pencil. Dec. 2003.

Not much to say about this one, but aiming for a "cleaner" inking style than I normally have. Also unusual in that I did this all on one sheet of paper. Normally I transfer sketches I like onto fresh paper for inking. The black bar at the bottom is an intentional part of the composition. Nov. 2003.

Just a technical-pen portrait of Floyd Mephit of Texas. The bike in nominally a Harley, but it's just my usual schizophrenic mish-mash of machinery. There's one major thing wrong with it, can you spot it?

This image was inspired by a dream. I got up that morning and sketched it out, so please don't crucify me on the details of the armor or anything, I tried to be true to the image I had in my head. I also decided *not* to re-size the wings, since at this size they worked better in the composition. Mixed media on illustration board, original sketch done Feb. 12, 2002.

"May all beings be free from fear." In the end, I decided against coloring this piece, I like the ink work too much. This was drawn from a Tibetan sculpture of Kuan Yin, and I have no idea who the original artist was. Of course, their Kuan Yin was human, but I didn't let that stand in my way.
