Another of the watercolor fashion magazine pictures-- a rather pensive-looking fennec.
1064x704 53240 bytes 2006.01.25
A colored illustration from Game of Kings.
713x812 47690 bytes 2006.01.25
Although I hadn't intended it that way, this image ended up being my 2006 Christmas card. The Lynx really isn't going to eat the cardinal, despite the latter's apprehensive look.
950x785 51448 bytes 2006.01.25
Cheesecake skunks. The picture was peiced together from several different scans, so there's some odd lines in it. Fun with a limited pallette.
669x980 54661 bytes 2006.01.25
A cheesecake picture of various bat gals, also from FC 2006. It was a challenge to find enough colorful species of bats to make an interesting image. I'm not 100% happy with how some of it turned out, but it was popular at the con so I guess I did something right.
1218x620 50493 bytes 2006.01.25
One of my FC 2006 peices. Trying to find color photos of marlins online resulted in seeing a lot of dead fish and happy fishermen. Done in animation 'cel' format of ink and acrylic paint on acetate.
721x968 58473 bytes 2005.07.12
A tiger in formal dress. Done in animation 'cel' format-- acrylic & ink on acetate.
601x745 61415 bytes 2005.07.12
Another AC peice. Not much to say about this one.. just a griffin with a big'ol knife. Markers. My scanner washed the colors out pretty badly.
926x794 247604 bytes 2005.07.12
I had a lot of fun working on this peice. Various extinct predators. The scale is probably not accurate down to the inch, but is reasonably accurate. Clockwise from top left: Hyenadon, short-faced bear, Andrewsarchus, marsupial lion, powerful kangaroo-rat, marsupial sabertooth, thylacine, and smiladon. I know there's specific scientific names for some of these, but I don't feel like dragging out my books to get the exact spellings. Done in markers, ink & colored pencil.
926x606 81863 bytes 2005.07.12
A picture from AC last year-- some nighthawks and nightjars. Done mostly in markers.
638x754 61297 bytes 2005.07.12
A mouse girl chats up Salem at a party. If she's smart she won't agree to go home with him. One of my AC peices; mostly markers & colored pencil.
692x778 135446 bytes 2005.06.18
A Black Spiral Dancer from the latest online Rage expansion.
601x815 98957 bytes 2005.06.18
A sketchbook drawing for Skorzy, done a few years ago at AnthroCon. Usually I hate how my con sketches come out, but this one wasn't too bad.
889x1030 90936 bytes 2005.06.18
Once upon a time I thought it would be a neat idea to see an animated version the novel Duncton Wood, and did a handful of character designs and a storyboard sequence as an experiment.
805x1229 179688 bytes 2005.06.18
An older picture. This is a scan of a color copy. The copy is much darker than the original, but unfortunately I never had a chance to scan the actual picture. Jack Salem runs into Nohar & Manny from S. Andrew Swann's book Forests of the Night. Swann has the original of this. Now if I could just talk him into doing more Moreau novels...
552x839 112470 bytes 2005.03.20
The cover to the novella I recently finished. Photoshop over an inked drawing. The text font isn't final; I might find something I like better for it later. This should be printed in time for Anthrocon (hopefully).
661x773 40503 bytes 2005.03.11
An illustration I did for an article about cryptozoology. Here a famous TV host encounters a Queensland "tiger." But will he survive to tell the world of his discovery? And more importantly, will the mauling be caught on film?
617x780 57372 bytes 2005.03.11
A proxy Rage CCG card I did quite a while ago, partly as an excercise while I was learning to use Photoshop. This illo will probably turn up again in one of the new expansions.
614x844 63927 bytes 2005.03.11
Another illo from the extinct bird article. I forget what the name of this one is, but it's related to pelicans.
712x864 59757 bytes 2005.03.11
An illustration I did for an article on extinct birds. This is Argentavis magnificens.
600x943 80747 bytes 2005.03.11
A mixed media peice commemerating the extinct dodo.
784x958 81172 bytes 2005.03.11
Another con picture, this time of David Hopkin's Drip running into one of my characters. Their exchange won't make any sense unless you're familiar with both our work, but hopefully the picture looks interesting regardless if it's understood or not.
523x700 94376 bytes 2005.03.11
Usually I don't like most of the pictures I do at cons, but this one actually came out reasonably good. A caracal goes "glomph" on an unlucky bird. Done at ConiFur a couple years ago.
818x628 64983 bytes 2005.03.11
Some werewolves fighting. Done for a friend a few years ago.
1109x744 100456 bytes 2005.03.11
An illo from the new story I'm working on. The final version will be toned in greyscale. Sometimes what looks like an easy target is anything but...
486x769 27630 bytes 2005.01.19
Another peice from FC that I forgot to upload yesterday.
810x561 58482 bytes 2005.01.19
Re-uploaded after some background corrections. A plum-headed parakeet thinks the palm cockatoo is being a little too nosey.
813x568 76992 bytes 2005.01.19
Sometimes it's really not a good idea to go walking in the snowy woods at twilight....
831x733 79879 bytes 2005.01.19
While I was on Christmas vacation I got a book featuring all the parrots of the world. This is an anthro version of one of the world's most elusive and endangered birds-- the Australian night parrot.
623x795 62738 bytes 2005.01.19
One of my pictures from FC 2005. Various crowned and crested eagles. The colors are a little off because I didn't scan the original before I left for the con, and this scan was done from a color copy. Done mostly with markers, plus some ink and white paint.
