Thoughtless

You might say Rez is a thoughtless man. It could not be farther from the truth...

This is a photo of an 18x24 charcoal and charcoal pencil piece. The assignment was a full value drawing in black and white. The man pictured is the same as my 'Red Cities' image. I actually did this largely in a single evening in my boyfriend's dorm room last weekend.

The smokey skull could have been MUCH better above the jaw and eye sockets, however it was the best I could do since the page had gotten smears that no amount of kneaded eraser were going to lift. I kinda had to work with what was there.

Lastly? This picture is hand porn. It was done just so I could draw the hands in those fun positions.

Masquerade

This was the piece we had to do at the beginning of the semester, drawing on themes from the book 'The Scarlet Letter'. I stayed the hell away from the rampant pregnancy and child themes in favor of how the two genders are seen and treated.

Red Cities

This is a photo. I will try to replace it soon but the image is simply too large to work with a scanner.

The character pictured is Rez, the real person beneath Rage's burning flames. He's a rocker. <3 Rage can be found further back in my gallery. Rez is, in a way, Iori's human incarnation for a graphic novel I've been hammering at for a couple months.

The entire thing is ink of one color or another. It's the result of our drawing teacher telling us that we could draw whatever we wanted last class so I pulled this out. I hope I get a good grade, I'm rather pleased with the flow of color and interest. :p

I was playing with inks today and sporfled this across the paper.

There are some proportion problems in the forearms and hands, but I do like the effects I managed to mess about and create.

Iori's the beast pictured

A nude study of Morgandria, who probably has the heaviest build out of all my characters. She's got ample proportions of everything, right down to her tailfloof, hair, and personality. Drawing rounder characters is more challenging than one might think.

Silver T

I tried a cell shading thing in color for this picture, where instead of shading with simply darker versions of whatever the main color was, I instead slipped in hues.

I think I was pretty successful in that, but I'll need a HELL of a lot of practice. I think the character's pretty cute, she makes me think of a jester for some reason. <3

This is Paiseley, a canine and eastern dragon hybrid. She's my person for the Anthro Exchange over on LJ.

This was a really fun doodle, the frog Paiseley is riding and the color of the paper were the result of the frog theme we had for the month of February.

Hope you like, the character is very awesome and I distinctly approve of her hoodie. <3

I have never made Sakara a reference sheet before. Thankfully the only thing that changes between 'representation of artist' and 'world character' are some tweaks to her wardrobe.

I did this mostly for the anthro sketch exchange, since I rarely have any pictures that clearly illustrate my characters' physical qualities. I'm pretty proud of myself for finishing it and I think I'll try this out for my other characters/creatures.

Rage

We got to play in pastels recently and so I decided to try them for something personal at home. This is a portrait of Rage, who is Iori's vice/inner monster as well as a stand-alone character in a world I'm in the midst of building.

He's named for his vice and part of his appearence is due to it. The flames which have burnt off his hair and blackened his skin belongs to the short temper and violent anger burning away from within. He's a tiger(Not that it's terribly apparent) with ram horns, vertebral spines, and a bladed, dragonlike tail.

It's 18x24 and the image is actually a photograph. With a shitty camera. I doctored it to get at least some true color out of it, so hopefully it doesn't look too bad. Spent about two or three evenings messing around with it.

Part of a design class, we were to make a color wheel. Naturally I had to get more creative. :3

Iori - Nude Study

A study of male musculature, because I'm way out of practice. I used a number of Hogarth anatomy books for references.
Iori's hair and brows are actually black, but I didn't fill them in as I'm debating coloring it with marker or on the comp.

Poor Iori is wearing a smiley over at DA, since I don't particularly trust or know how their filters display.

Silmarillon

I inscribed the book(Tolkien's Silmarillion) I gave Rowan for Christmas with this image. It actually goes across the inside cover and first page.

It's Rowan the in-world character, writing about his current wandering endeavor under one of the many trees indicative of nearby Lacuna entrances.

Xeno

Look, a big drooly xeno!

One of these days I'll get around to naming these things proper as they've deviated far away from their childhood Alien inspiration. Not that it's readily apparent with only a headshot, but eventually... HR Giger still rocks my socks.

They're kept as pets in my world and generally live in the underground.

Locke

I realize quite a few things are off now, but Reka seemed pleased so I can't complain.

This is our(And eventually hers) black boy cat named Locke, who is named for a Final Fantasy VI character.

The background is watercolor with india ink for the figure and a little acrylic in the eyes.

Frost Moths

This is an absolutely atrocious scan. But then, fine and somewhat pastel shades of watercolor really don't show well no matter HOW much tinkering one does with them.

This is a Christmas present for Rei and Rowan's mom, a dorky little bit of whimsy since I had no idea what to make for her and all she specified was 'hand made'.

The picture is done on 9x12 bristol, with copic marker, a little bit of prismacolor pencil, a silver pen, watercolor, some salt for the background texture, a few kinds of metallic, shiny inks, and some sequin snowflakes.

The moths glitter. <3 They're inspired by Royal Walnut Moths, which are common by my boss's home and occasional workplace.

Color Theory Tigers

This pair is done to illustrate how the human eye may percieve changes in a color thanks to the other colors it resides on or near. In this case the color affected most is the purple, but also the white and yellow.

These guys were FUN to do, even if simple.

Queen Heaven

There we go. MUCH happier now. Queen Heaven's 'Tigress', rendered in india ink and watercolor on 11x14 bristol, with a touch of metallic ink pen for jewelry and her ankh. She's a uniger.

Murder

Titled 'murder' because a group of crows is a murder of crows!

Another design 1 project, take an image and repeat it a minimum of ten times. I chose a crow because I wanted something birdy and in the end this was simple, as my hands were acting up HORRIBLY and I couldn't go more complex.

What d you see? Eight insects? Four? Diamonds? Arrows?

Music Has Magic

I'm tired, worked on this off and on at random for two days. But it's done. <3 Rowan has a nice imagination to be doing that...

Crow Hearts

I don't remember if there was a purpose or not behind this one, but I DO remember being proud of the feathering.

I really really miss digital coloring...I feel extra bad for going through that Adesso tablet(Which was a wonderful piece of hardware) in a mere year. Maybe this'll convince me to get a wacom...

A picture of Silver (User on FA: Solstice, I don't know if she's made that an official name change or not), doodled in a pleasant mood awhile ago but otherwise I don't remember anything about it.

A drawing that kept me sane in Design. Rowan's just hanging out, chillin' with his iPod. Going to color it if my hands'll put up with it.

Ankh Eternity

Iori, the character counterpart to Sakara. A siberian tiger that's huge, black, chaotic, and stubborn. It began as a doodle of wing shading, but soon blossomed into something bigger.
