Masquerade

This was the piece we had to do at the beginning of the semester, drawing on themes from the book 'The Scarlet Letter'. I stayed the hell away from the rampant pregnancy and child themes in favor of how the two genders are seen and treated.

This is a photo of an 18x24 piece. It's india ink, marker, some silver pen, some silver ink, and red ink.

I've admired Matrices' artwork for a very long time, but never got around to making something for her until today. :3 It's also the second picture in a new way of drawing for me. Instead of attempting to erase all my little guidelines and fill it in neatly and just having the whole thing look like it had been crammed in my bookbag for ten years, I'll sketch to my heart's content on one page, and trace/draw it over on another page on top of the sketch. Shade left-to-right, and voila, insta-nice-looking-art.

This was a 4x7 keep-my-sanity painting in watercolor. He's not as cool as he could've been, but I enjoyed experimenting with the blues and such. Like the dragon before, I tried not to use black. He is for sale at 15$ including shipping.

A tiny watercolor dragon, note card sized. The point of this exercise was to try and not use black. I think I succeeded. Even if I do seem to do all my colors in retina blinding saturation.

A coffee-colored skunk for marker and anatomy practice. I think he's cute, something about the boyish face and long hair.

A small doodle, only 6x6". I actually really like the design of the character, but then I am a fan of bold white markings.

I know I know, the filename says 'dragon'. But after looking at her, I realized I had simply never drawn horns. So I guess the mom is the drake and the father is the dragon, hence why only one nestling has wings. :3

Expect this to turn up in color later. It was the request of a friend who's in band with me, I figured I'd do it because 1) she's always been nice to me and 2) her boy just left for the Marines and won't be back for...87 days from today.

Monsters Are Made

It's not the dog, it's the one holding the leash...

Done for my friend Marci of her character/herself, Red MoonSeeker, the white wolf/dragon mix. I really need to do a full body, but I'm actually rather satisfied with this seeing as how I don't normally draw lupine-anything very well, were wolves being particularly obnoxious. I took a little bit of artistic license, especially in adding the horns, but she liked it anyway. :3

*wails* THE SCANNER ATE MY CAREFUL SHADING.

A were-dragon-wolf, not of your typical kind. In case it isn't apparent, I like deviating away from the usual accepted hybrid designs. >.> She(MoonSeeker) is pictured here without her dragon wings. The kanji is supposed to stand for 'fighter', but I do not speak, read, or write Japanese, so if the handwriting is off or it doesn't even make a word, please don't shoot me. e_e

A minor character of mine that I'd like to flesh out more in the future. This started as me trying to remember her over again and eventually turned into a study of how I imagine her build. I highly doubt she'd ever actually go anywhere totally naked(Much less the bush), but it was fun trying to draw a more womanly form. It's also more marker practice, hence the background that didn't quite work like I wanted.

This is a fine example of 'trying too hard'. I kept trying so hard to get something exactly like what Io asked for and thus kept putting off my trade for months. The night I kept trying to get it exact and instead did my own version, it popped right out in about...four, five hours. Motley's pretty rockin' if I do say so myself.

Inks inspired by PseudoManitou. Copic brush pen on 9x12 watercolor cold press paper, watercolors(Winsor and Newton mostly), salt, white ink, and iridescent inks. The silver guitar details, Motley's collar and chain, his hair spikes, and his eyebrows shimmer and strike bright colors at different angles.

A trade with Mottenfest that I'm rather pleased with. I didn't quite pull off the Silent Hill flavor he asked for, but I'm still pleased with the horror theme of vomiting tentacles.

Rensis(The rainbow mohawked character)' nose is actually blue, I incorrectly colored it and then failed when I tried to tint it blue. Sorry Mottenfest!

Music Has Magic

I'm tired, worked on this off and on at random for two days. But it's done. <3 Rowan has a nice imagination to be doing that...

A drawing that kept me sane in Design. Rowan's just hanging out, chillin' with his iPod. Going to color it if my hands'll put up with it.

I haven't really done a picture for the lynx-floof before, at least not a serious one that wasn't spurred by emotional unrest... Every once in awhile, I do like to do art just because someone is wonderful, and they deserve something nice. I need to brighten the hair though...

An old picture of Despair I'd forgot I did, from way back in November last year. Every bit of that is inks, I can't believe I pulled it off.

By the way, is anyone here interested in possibly buying my originals? I like to keep what I finish, but some things, like this picture, just end up in the floor of my room and get torn up, leaving only the scan. I'm surprised this one survived with the only damage being a little ink run.

Sometimes...you just can't draw. Somedays all that anxiety begins to boil over onto paper in the form of mad scribblings. It's not about being angsty, it's about cleaning out your brain. Once you dump all that crap onto paper, your mind is clear to do what you REALLY want to again.

This one scanned cleaner and looks more complete, though it still needs a few things done to it, which may have it reuploaded at an undesignated point in time.

Anxiety, ink, and prismacolor marker.

(Possible) new lineart, there are a number of pictures I'd like to do again now that my technical skill is better. "Fly Again" is one of them.

Either Despair herself is just a multi-faceted monster, or she's made some friends along the road of life...
