Silmarillon

I inscribed the book(Tolkien's Silmarillion) I gave Rowan for Christmas with this image. It actually goes across the inside cover and first page.

It's Rowan the in-world character, writing about his current wandering endeavor under one of the many trees indicative of nearby Lacuna entrances.

A generic standing pose to give an example of height, build, and the fact that outfits with a loincloth over pants are hot. Rowan again, as owned by Arris-the-Blue.

It 'tis a Sabarika, drawn and inked in English today.

Romulus of the previous upload, shifted to a plain wolf. Though he looks tough in the previous picture, his actual character is much more humble..apologetic...and resigned to his fate.

A fate that he has yet to realize could be very different than what he dreads.

I felt bad one night, so I doodled.

I WILL KILL THIS SCANNER ONE DAY. But until then, I will have to love it and plead with it and hope it'll eventually stop eating my shading. I'm not too adept at pencil-shading moss or tree bark, so I left that as linework until such day as I know how, or until I open up photoshop. :3

I've no clue why, but I really really liked drawing and shading this particular pose. It's also the first picture I used my 'sketch, then trace it over on another piece of paper stacked on stop, then shade the new copy' technique thingie. I like it.

Overwhelmed

This was a bit of art therapy when I was having an anxiety episode. Thankfully I'm used to them by now as I can't even remember what it was for, and hey...they produce decent art. :3

A ballpoint pen piece of...well, Sakara. Enter Sakara Face number 0948564903798576988576945769458. Any artist knows how that goes, it's one of the eight bazillion head drawings they do of their character in any one year. >.>

I realized I didn't have any recent badges in my gallery as examples to people. *oops*

This one is about 3.5x4.5" on bristol, painstakingly cut out with a utility knife and tiny bathroom scissors. The black background is just some cardstock I had lying around to make the badge stand out in my scanner. It'll be laminated over at Solstice's sometime in the near future.

Staedtler pen, Copic marker, and a little silver Prismacolor metallic ink.

As shown by the date, a 2006 inkwork. It's MAJORLY inspired and influenced from Neogeen, mostly her huge collection of large-pawed spontaneous monsters/creations. There may or may not have been a little bit of Heartless(From Kingdom Hearts) involved, but I can't remember back that far!

Eh, it looks weird to me. Figured I'd upload it anyway to show the two attempts I made, and that I tend to do a better job on the second time around.

Sakara is mine. Ink, marker, and the flat greys are actually metallic silver paint.

I know, old, overdone joke. It was drawn on the letter I sent to Spyke while he's at boot camp. He's there until at least July 30th, maybe longer...but I'm crossing my fingers.

I threw in some flat color on a set of inks I liked, but wasn't entirely happy with. I may color it fully and see where it goes. My ACTUAL favorite color is indeed blue, not red.

Hey, we all get that way sometimes. I spent entirely too much time by myself this past semester. Nothing like entire days, weeks, and months of never talking to anyone.

Well, no outlines anyway. Brush pen and prismacolor markers, plus one brown pen that scanned very very badly.

I actually drew and inked the image over the weekend(Sunday I think?). While I had masked it down after I did that part, I didn't get to it until tonight.

Very appropriately, it has poured all day today. I wanted to do something for me again, something somber.

I tried a new painting technique. I washed the entire page in a single color(Payne's Gray), then took Cobalt Blue and shaded in all the shadow areas, as well as the umbrella. I used Payne's Gray for Sakara's fur and washed right over her nose and other areas. It looks REALLY cool. I used white ink to add the highlights on her hair and face.

For the background I masked the whole thing off and basically just made a delightfully splattery mess. Remove the tape and voila! Pretty cool rain effects.

About 3.5 hours of work.

I have never made Sakara a reference sheet before. Thankfully the only thing that changes between 'representation of artist' and 'world character' are some tweaks to her wardrobe.

I did this mostly for the anthro sketch exchange, since I rarely have any pictures that clearly illustrate my characters' physical qualities. I'm pretty proud of myself for finishing it and I think I'll try this out for my other characters/creatures.

A reasonably neat picture done in the hour or so my boyfriend was playing TimeSplitters. It's a brush pen, prismacolor pencils, and various metallic/arylic inks. There isn't a single spot of white in the drawing, it's all various shades of blue.

I didn't know I could do this with pencils. c.c;
