A weird idea I came up with when thinking about dragonflys and wondering if wyrms ever pupate and become butterflies.\r\n\r\nThis is my first major experiment with using gradient meshed in Illustrator so I'm sorta proud of it in that regaurd. There's no photoshopping at all. Its entirely Illustrator! (Not counting the original sketch which was pencil) Learned a ton working on this one. :)\r\n

If EVER there was a picture that screamed, 'PLEASE SKULL ME!!!!' this would be it! :)\r\n\r\nI admit it. I'm diseased.\r\n\r\nI had this idea and thought 'Gosh! I'm glad some corporate exec in the 80's didn't think of this.' The horror. The horror...\r\n\r\nOn the bright side, YOU don't have to live in my skull. :)\r\n

A simple piece. I was fiddling with using light colours in multiply mode in Photoshop over a pencil drawing to see what it would look like. I think I like it though it's an awful generic headshot type thing.

Did this piece as sort of a charity thing for a friend who is in need to money. It was fun though a lot of work. I get a little obessive with detail now and then. I'm working on another version of this drawing done all in Illustrator and photoshop to compare the look and feel of the hand-drawn one versus the computer drawn one.\r\n\r\n

Another of my new pieces (Also done in May, I didn't get to do any painting the past couple of months) Again done in acrylics. I think I'm reasonably happy with this piece. Again, the scan isn't quite as bright as the original but it's closer than the Feral Flynn piece. I did both of these paintings experimenting with a new painting process, which I think is working out pretty well for me. If anyone has any input, pointers, or suggestions, I'd love to hear it. This is one of my new acrylic paintings. I did it in May of 2002 but wasn't able to upload it until now because I had to photograph it and I was in the process of moving. This picture is much darker and less vibrant than the original. *sigh* I'd love input on what people think of it though.

Half woman, half machine, she raced across the plains. There was only one who could match her speed and when they had run all they could, and raced for as long as they wanted, they surrendered to one another.\r\nDone in marker and ink on bristol.

I created this piece for the Further Confusion 2002 Con Badges. It's a school theme. This piece is done in ink and markers.

I started painting the other night and just kept going, making broad sweeping brush strokes and this is what came out. I really like a lot of things about this piece. The strikingness of the dragoness caused by the play between positive and negative space, and the complimentary colours. Though I was at first tempted to add more detail to this piece, I decided I liked it left impressionistic, feeling that it lent more to the mysteriousness of her mood.\r\nAnyhow, it's about a 10"x16" piece painted in acrylics on canvas. :) Very fun. Painting always feels much freer to me than coloured pencil and it's nice to let loose and just paint now and then.\r\n-Sammi

Some quiet study time.\r\n\r\nI read a book on inking with technical pens titled, 'The Technical Pen'\r\nby Gary Simmons. I think I really got a lot out of the book. Anyhow, a \r\nfriend is doing a project with a 'college' theme to it, so I did this \r\ndrawing as a submission. :)

Would this martial art's form be called 'Bun-Fu' or 'Carrote'? :)\r\nI really gotta get back into painting. Photoshop is too fast\r\nand convenient.\r\n\r\nCharacter (C) Sherri@FurryMUCK

A chrome dragonoid.\r\n\r\nI was experimenting with photoshop techniques for making metalic finishes\r\nand used it to turn a rather blandish sketch into this. :)

The first feline space explorer to set foot on an alien world.\r\n\r\nPainted with acrylics, using airbrush and conventional brush techniques \r\non 11x14 marker board.

The anthropomorphism in this piece is in the medium itself and not so much the\r\nsubject. It's kind of 'conceptual' furry art. Impasto is a style of painting\r\nwhere thick globs of paint are put onto the canvas to make the scene, so the\r\nseries this painting is from is called 'Impawsto'. Because I've taken rubber\r\nstamps of the animal's paw (or in this case hoof) print and used it to make \r\nthe scene.\r\n\r\nIt is not just a scene of a deer, but who he is, make with a mark that he could\r\nmake himself rather than one created by humans, and the piece is about his \r\nplace, this deer's sense of identity in the world.\r\n\r\nPainted in acrylics on 11"x14" Watcolour board, using a stamp of a buck's \r\nhoof.

A centauress at the beach. This was a fun project. I took images from \r\nmagazines and photographs and composited them together to create a fantasy\r\nscene, then I grided it up and drew the image at 18"x24" It's all rendered\r\nin graphite but there's like 40 hours of work in it, so I didn't think it \r\nfit exactly as a sketch.

"The Reef of Souls" ... I spent a lot of time working on this piece. It's \r\nsomething I thought about for a long time. I first logged into furry about\r\n10 years ago. At the time, I had a lot of issues going on in my life and \r\nVR was a place to escape to... Or maybe it was a siren's song dragging me down.\r\nI failed out of college and spent a majority of my time online, never doing \r\nanything else. Eventually I got my head straightened out, started spending \r\nless time online, and even went back to school where I now carry a 4.0...\r\nNow and then though, I see other lost souls, drifting helplessly towards the\r\nReef.\r\n In the image itself, you can see their spectral furry forms, being drawn\r\nfrom their corporeal being and drawn away.\r\n Painted in acrylics on a cotton machine-weave heavy duty canvas. 18"x24"

A pixie caught in a dryder's web. At first, this was on a white background \r\nwith a black web, but as I inked, it seemd to look better and better the more\r\nblack I added. I eventually ended up inking almost the entire page.

My RLSO really likes this type of banana that you can't find in regular stores.\r\nIt's kind of short and fat and isn't as sweet as regular bananas nor as starchy\r\nas plantains. It's called a burro banana. She's also into the TF thing, so\r\nI did this sketch sort of as a tease with regaurd to that. So the girl in the \r\npicture has just discovered an unusual transformation has taken place, once she\r\ntasted the burro banana. (Originally drawn in September of 1999)

My first image to upload to Velar. I drew this in the spring of 1999, and \r\nthough the perspective is a little off, I really was happy with it at the time\r\nbecause it was a point where inking, colouring, perspective and proportions were\r\nall starting to come together, and I made use of scenery to help establish\r\nwhat was going on in the picture.\r\n It's a bored young kit, but I hope, from the other elements, the veiwer\r\ncan figure out where she is and why she's bored. :)
