A picture over a few years in the making, I actually started with the beak and eyes but didn't like how I handled her eyebrows (too graphic and cartoony for what I was looking for) so I put it aside for a couple of years. After finishing another long-time color project a few weeks ago, I decided the time was right to have a go at finishing this one up and I did mere hours ago. I'm glad I waited as I know much more about how to render feathers now than when I started this one.

589x792 42252 bytes 2004.11.26
Another tender graphite piece like 'Touching'. This one took a little over 6 hours to shade properly and started out as a fairly crude sketch in a little lined notebook I was using a couple of years ago as a sketchbook. Even if color never touches this, I'll consider it as finished a piece as anything I have colored.

772x600 53822 bytes 2004.02.06
A graphite piece where I tried to convey a great deal of devotion, wonder, delight, and maybe a bit of hesitation in one little moment just before a very passionate kiss. I really like how the expressions, hands and manes turned out in this.
| Image: selfcel.jpg
399x654 73875 bytes 2001.06.03
An animation cel style self portrait. I've deliberately left off the wings and tail as I feel slightly incomplete at the moment. My admiration goes out to those that ink and paint the thousands of cels necessary to create motion. That paint isn't easy to work with on acetate.

792x602 117793 bytes 2001.05.15
like anyone even cares...

246x324 50337 bytes 2001.04.27
A little something I drew up at work while waiting for the dinosaur Mac I'm stuck with to print a color file. This took about 25 minutes to get all the colors right and the file still hadn't printed yet. I think it's time the bosses got a new computer. Anyway, this is what I might look like as a gryphon, portrait wise. I kinda like it.

Inteneded to act as a metaphor for my spirit, it seems as though the vivid shade of the blood makes this more literal than I had hoped. This piece came as a bit of a surprise as it demanded more of me in ways no other picture I've done before ever has and hopefully never will again. Still, it is exactly as I envisioned it, not something I'm usually capable of, and it is one of the few works I've been able to complete lately.

426x698 85257 bytes 2000.08.25
A centaurette headed for a day of fun and sun at the beach. I used a picture of a horse for reference on the legs. I orginially envisioned her as black but am entertaining using other colors in a color version.
| Image: zebfem.jpg
399x459 93956 bytes 2000.08.25
This pic got it's start out of sheer boredom during marketing class in art school. I used a cover photo from Elle magazine that was sitting near my desk for reference but decided to do the cover model as a lady zebra. Guess I can't stand lecture classes even in art school.
| Image: bryce.jpg
432x474 97128 bytes 2000.08.25
A sketch of my great white shark anthromorph character, Bryce, as he emerges from another brisk swim. Still not too sure about the fins on his arms. Sharks are difficult creatures to morph.
| Image: ameagle.jpg
583x756 158958 bytes 2000.08.25
My first attempt at an animation cel style illustration. It proved more difficult than I'd previously imagined as the paint likes to peel up if applied too thickly and I didn't have a brown so I had to mix one up. All in all, a good learning experience.

659x610 105431 bytes 2000.08.21
A scratchboard piece created to satisfy an editorial illustration assignment in art school. I hate editorial illustrations but it was a cool way to finally render a dragon. I'm pleased with the dragon but I'd sure like the time to redo him without all of that silly lettering.

252x236 8659 bytes 2000.08.21
AHHH! The horror, the horror!! A very, very, very old portrait sketch of myself that I'm posting just to prove to the world that anyone can get a lot better with practice.
| Image: dandc.jpg
396x576 88514 bytes 2000.08.21
A couple of characters, Dulas and Camielle, that I based on an armadillo and a camel, not exactly your run-of-the-mill anthro critters. I really like the differences between the two, he short but broad, she tall but slender.
| Image: batgirl.jpg
412x580 74381 bytes 2000.08.21
Talk about hanging around! Just a little work in progress because I hadn't really seen any pics of anthro bats hanging upside down at the time I drew it. Desperately needs color.

636x534 179380 bytes 2000.08.21
A suggestion pic just like the now-what one, but it was my suggestion this time to have a gryphon and a unicorn playing a video game. I find it very interesting that both my friend and I had the unicorn beating the gryphon in both of our pics.
| Image: now-what.jpg
426x543 117998 bytes 2000.08.21
A quick picture that came from a friend's suggestion when I was having trouble locating my creative energy after a tough day at work. My friend's suggestion? Draw a dragon holding an orb and looking perplexed. I'm not certain if that is perplexed but I certainly wouldn't want to be in his predicament.
| Image: hi-there.jpg
750x582 382851 bytes 2000.08.21
A sketch of the very first meeting between Dani and I when we were just little dragons. I've been told several (and I mean several) times by a friend just how cute it is, so consider yourselves warned.
| Image: mates.GIF
606x666 106060 bytes 2000.08.21
A somewhat dated sketch of my mate, Danielle, and I. This was rendered mainly to illustrate the height of both of us. It also features our society's version of formal wear. I hope to update and color this in the near future.
| Image: cardinal.jpg
432x691 123293 bytes 2000.08.21
While this piece isn't exactly anthropomorphic, it does remain one of my best watercolor renderings. I'm afraid I tend to apply watercolors so they turn out looking like gauche (a paint that is somewhere between watercolors and acrylics)but I'm still pleased with the way it turned out.
| Image: tstudio.gif
299x282 117114 bytes 2000.02.08
Computer rendered in Freehand and computer colored in Photoshop for use as the main logo on my webpage.
| Image: le_gal.jpg
435x573 134908 bytes 2000.02.08
A colored pencil rendering of my beloved mate and a nasty predator in her own right, Danielle, to be posted in the legal seciton of my webpage. Copyright violators beware!
| Image: todd1.jpg
712x502 135933 bytes 2000.02.08
My most current self portrait. Unfortunately it was based on a much older sketch and the wings are too small. Just haven't had the time to fix them right now. Soon hopefully.
| Image: ladies_best.jpg
606x780 242396 bytes 2000.02.08
Four furry ladies that work in a nightclub called the Bestiary. Clockwise from the upper left are: Gabriella Carnadine, a wolf, Llar Khai, a phoenix, Rosita Ruiz, a Meso-American feathered dragon, and Phoebe & Clark, a mare with her serpentine friend.
| Image: fafnir1.jpg
471x615 126970 bytes 2000.02.08
A pencil sketch of my Western Diamonback dragon, an odd idea that came to me while watching a nature program and sorting through old dragon sketches. I plan to color him in the near future but doubt there will be any major changes since rattlesnakes tend to be colored like dirt anyway.
| Image: hoops.jpg
780x599 234064 bytes 2000.02.08
An inspiration that came to me while watching a basketball game on TV. What would be more natural than having a zebra playing a giraffe one on one. It's still a rough sketch but the foregrond figures are shaping up nicely.
| Image: cubone.jpg
459x711 123084 bytes 2000.02.08
My first upload to the VCL is my pokemorph version of Cubone, an idea inspired by a little wind-up model kit I received as a gift. I envisioned this picture instantly after putting the model together and it would not leave me alone until I put pencil to paper. I saw him as a wandering loner type and found out sometime later that Cubone is indeed referred to as the "lonely" pokemon.
