A few days ago I was thinking about a couple of my favourite artists, the way they work with light and shadow and colour, and what a few of them have said to me about how to use it. I wanted to make something with a good bit of natural glow, and this old drawing came to mind: http://us-p.vclart.net/vcl/Artists/Shadowolf/wolf_dancer.jpg
So I thought I'd redraw it in accordance with a couple of ideas about light play and markers I have. And this was the result!

So prints available as usual if anyone is interested. Contact me if you are.

More odd dream imagery, coming from a dream I had based in childhood feelings, thoughts, and desires.

Unicorn: "Eek!"
XD

Yet another neony marker/coloured pencil piece, this one also for sale if anyone is interested. I wanted to go for a yin-yang sort of thing, but the design of the yin-yang is less apparent than I wanted it to be.

Original was for sale, but has already been sold.

More experimentation with markers and coloured pencil, this time after I went out and bought a chartreuse and spring green markers. I actually really like this, what's neat is that when you hold it up to the light, the markers make the figures glow. Most of the time I spent on this was getting that stark black background with the markers and pencils I had. The entire page is coloured, all the way to every edge, and covered with fixative it makes it look neat and glossy.

So it's for sale, but not on furbid. Contact me for information, the price is $35 or best offer.

So, I started to draw this after dreaming I was something a lot like this. It was the night after watching the entire animated Star Wars series, so it's obviously inspired by the neat cat people by the face and hair. I had a cool staff, and a cool robe, and had been sold to the Devil as a bride by my sister. But that's beside the point! I started drawing the dream me, and it turned into something much more animaly than originally intended, at least in pose and attitude. So it became this, which was so much fun to create. And believe it or not, this is the edited version. XD I was too embarassed to upload the full version.

Another experiment with markers and coloured pencils. I really liked the way the dragon head looked in my previously posted doodle dump, so I used the same techniques and colours for this one. Just for fun, nothing I really put a ton of thought into. ^^

Another of my contributions to Grey Wolf's corset portfolio. I just couldn't resist doing a red version with Shadow Wolf instead of Wolf Nymph. Yep, this is now the official 'Shadow Wolf', just a black and grey version of Wolf Nymph with red eyes. I may do more on her design later, but for the portfolio's sake she's just like this for now. She's another side of me I guess you could say, artistically at least. Maybe my more aggressive side or something. new character, new colour and corset design, new leaf creatures too! My cat and dog are in there somewhere. Anyone who knows them will probably laugh at how I put them in there (my cat is a fat expert killer and my dog has a great love for bananas).

My contribution to Grey Wolf's corset themed portfolio called 'Laced'. Anyone who knows a bit about colour psychology knows that people who's favourite colour is green value freedom and independance. I am one of those stubborn, freedom-bent green lovers. I can't stand it when people tell me what to do. So I made this the way it is as something of a personality self portrait. There are 18 hidden things in the leaves which apply to my personality (some are the same type of thing), so this is why I say full view so you can spot them all in there. Nearly everything in here I tried to make symbolic of my personality, to add a really personal touch to the portfolio piece.

eagle_shaman_sm.jpg
Image: eagle_shaman_sm.jpg   508x880 186960 bytes 2005.04.03

I made this for my dad's 50th birthday. I wish I could speak at lengths about the symbolism I put in this, from colour choice, to the crystals dangling from the eagle's talons. I'll just point out what it is and not go into details. Anyone who wants to do research can derive meaning from what I put into it if they want. The crystals are amethyst, iolite and quartz. The runes dyed into the eagle's feathers will be recognizable to those who are fans of Brian Froud. The only thing that has no meaning are the swirlies. I just thought they'd look nice, but I was REALLY rushed by the end so I think they kind of ruined the general composition of the piece.

Anyway, done with watercolours, coloured pencils and acrylic paint on smooth bristol.

bunny_girls_sm.jpg

This came about from several ideas concerning twin rabbit stuffed animals Preston gave me and a conversation about the lesbian fantasy a lot of guys have. So I made a random slightely-butch rabbit gal for Wolf Nymph to pose with. I'm still experimenting with how my rabbit anthros should look. For some reason they aren't as concrete a creature as wolves and dogs are art-wise. I also have issues with drawing bodies together because I still think in terms of lines instead of mass. So this was a bit of an excercize in trying to think and draw in terms of mass, not bad, but there are still flaws. I figure it's good practice.

While I was trying to draw something else I've had in my mind, this guy came out of what I drew! He is supposed to have wings, but I wanted just a body pose for now. Unknown origins and species as of yet, but his name is Jin Lee. Jin is gold in chinese and Lee is plum, representative of his eye colour and fur colour. I think I will make him a celestial creature, a one of a kind and not really a species. I hope to make more pictures of him in the future, but with all the characters running around in my head, I'm not sure when I'll get to it.

white_dragon_sm.jpg

I realize this is a bit big, but it looked rather dwarfed when I made it any smaller. Another dragon from Preston's dream, the one he was arguing with about something diplomatic and confusing. She is a snow dragon, large wings (larger than I drew them, I didn't want them to take over the painting) and furry body. I know it's hard to tell, but I used a variety of colours to make up the shadows on her body, including light purple, light blue and gold. Used the advice given to me on the last dragon piece to try some kind-of-new stuff on this one, but I think it turned out a little messy.

I can't sleep tonight, so while looking through old art I decided to ressurect this old girl: http://us-p.vclart.net/vcl/Artists/Shadowolf/pegged_upload.jpg I made some obvious changes, she now has a story rather than being a single art instance. I'm not sure of her name yet, but she's a fighter, a damn good one if she wears so little protection. She always has her knuckles and feet wrapped or covered in black foot bindings/fingerless gloves, because her only fear is hitting an opponent too hard in the wrong way and cutting her tendons on their teeth or jagged broken body. >=) There's a secret to her pipe but I won't say yet.

I wanted to do something much more dynamic with preston's dragon-ness than that first concept drawing. This was actually pretty hard, I'm not used to having to put my perspective skills to use like this. On top of that I wanted to try something new with clouds, but it turned out to be a whole huge mess. I have a cool way to do it in my head, but I keep screwing around with different ideas and it never turns out right. I also should start working with references with my clouds. Regardless of the shitty background and way-too-light colouring of the black dragon, I think this turned out pretty cool.

this dragon is not of my particular creation, but rather my boyfriend told me what it looked like over the phone and I drew it. Short version of the story, this is probably what he would look like if he were a dragon, seeing as how he dreamt it. I have a dragon form kinda too (meaning I had a really clear dream like he did about being a dragon and what I looked like), but my only drawing of it looks crappy as hell.

For Farelle Moon of DA for buying me a whole years of DA subscription! I had a hard time putting clothes on this, as I do with almost anything. I just like the nude figure better than the clothed figure, especially a not-stick-thin figure. Thanks Jen, hope you like it! Done in markers and coloured pencil.

It's been a while since I drew the rabbit version of preston (which is redundant if you know him), I made some changes. He said "do whatever you want hun", so I changed the bunny. ><; This isn't terribly good or exciting, I just wanted to draw him again, and use my markers a bit (markers under coloured pencil here).

I know, I'm going on kind of a spree here. It's my birthday, I can draw whatever I feel like! XD So here's preston in a more theriomorphic than anthropomorphic bunny form. Kinda wierd looking, but also sort of neat. I rather like playing with this form of rabbit anthro than the were-ish form. Usually he wears black, but black clothes on a black bunny look too uniform, so light jeans it is.

I thought it was time not only for a new character sheet, but for a couple small changes. I've added dark brown eye dots and markings around the eyes for more contrast in facial expressions, and it's spiffy looking. Also, new details on Wolf Nymph's background. Wolf Nymph isn't really her name, it's more of her title, like 'archduke' or something. For now, her name will be the same as mine, until I find something other than 'Katie' that both suits her as a character and a representation of me. She's no longer a pure wolf, but a wolf/dog mix (thought still mostly wolf). For more information on her background, go here: http://www.deviantart.com/view/14918948/

My half of a trade with Mearu of DA, who has an amazingly beautiful character design for her fox here. I was the one who initiated the trade (I really wanted a chance and excuse to draw this pretty lady), so please don't think I'm accepting them again. Still closed unless I initiate, I'm sorry everyone. ;__; This is another one of those graphite shaded, and photoshop tinted drawings. I'm actually quite pleased with how this came out, it appears very clean to me. *nod*
