My contribution to the "Cake" portfolio Frisket is organizing. A print of this will be distributed along with prints of similar themes from other artists. I don't know exactly who is in and who is still deciding on contributing, but so far there's a good list of awesome artists working on this. If you're interested in getting your hands on one of these portfolios, keep an eye out for updates on this project in my journal. Or contact Frisket, since she's head-honcho on this deal.

Done with watercolours, coloured pencil and gouache on 11" X 14" bristol.

I realize this may be a bit big, but I hope it isn't too much.

Done for this month's secret santa
over at yerf, for Blaze Bracard. The theme was monochrome, and I didn't have much choice with an all blue character, but it was a lot of fun. I think I overdid it for a trade though, I worked more hours on this than I planned. At one point I had been working ten hours straight (unproductively I might add) through the night, and I was getting pretty tired and sloppy. I really really hope she likes it... *collapse*

Done in watercolour, coloured pencil and gouache on 11 1/2" X 15 1/2" smooth bristol.

Drawn for Emily L'Orange, for trading post #59. I see virtually no anthro duck characters out there, it was a good break from all the mammal characters usually submitted to the trading post. Here's Emily about to kick some arse, her fighter's aura visible swirling around her. Yes, I used to be a big DBZ fan... ^^;

Ever get the feeling that the only reason guys ever talk to you is because of your bosom? Alterior motives from this dog piss Nebby the red panda off, and it pisses me off too. Sorry to let my current man-hating-ness seep into art I owe other people, but seriously... look me in the eyes when you talk to me, and spark a conversation because there's something to talk about. Don't approach me because you think I'm "hawt" or because you think you have a chance with me. I HATE this stupid stud-strut every male within ten miles is performing for me...

My half of a trade with the most talented Psuedo Manitou. I was given the task of creating my interpretation (or one of them) of the word 'manitou' which is a word used by northern native americans meaning spirit animal.

At first I was fleshing out a concept for a wierd eagle thing which always has this six-eyed mystery mammal skull over it's head, and I just got bored and made designs all over it. I thought it looked cool enough to follow through with the actual piece.

Watercolour, coloured pencil and india ink (all three of which I used to get that stark black) on 10 1/2" X 13" smooth bristol. This concept will become a character in the future, now I have some cool ideas for him/her/it.

Little messy things I made in my sketchbook in an effort to drill happy thoughts into my head. Though it didn't quite work, I like the outcome. Turned Cyrus and I into little chinchilla-somethings for some romping, and doodled up something close to my old prom dress. My dress is actually much darker, doesn't have those spiffy bell things on it, and I didn't look as cool in it as my little make-believe chica does. mmmyep.

"As a creature of the past looks on, the barer of new life awakens the first of a new creature"

This is for yerf's trading post #58, Tarah Fae's character Quadiva! Quadiva is a Quagga, a recently extinct cousin to the horse and zebra, and Guide to all Last of Kinds. The big Chocobo looking bird peeking at the egg is a Terror Bird, a group of birds that ranged from five to nine feet tall, and hunted the ancestors of horses. It was really hard to find skeletal references for this guy, so all I had to go on was memory from past books about it, a few illustrations and a thumbnail of it's skull. Think of them as avian t-rex's of their time, certainly apex predators. I love them! ^^

"I can't help but still feel this way... hurt him and you die"

Nothing much to explain here... Wingless dragon version of me, feeling protective even though it's as if I have no right to be. Just needed to get it off my chest is all, and it turnedout somewhat pretty to look at too.

"do NOT fuck with me, not even indirectly..."

So... Now that that's out of my system... I don't feel like explaining, but it's over for now. Let me introduce you to Shadow Wolf, the second half of my fictional identity. Character design is in the utmost beginning stages, more markings and such may be added later. She represents my more aggressive side, my anger and bloodlusty-ness. Sorry to confuse you with this duality, the other (red-brown) wolf is Wolf Nymph. I'll explain all this sometime later...

A while back when Bastek won the yerf trading post her character description included bandana wearing... *ponders* Why this came up in my sketchbook recently, I don't know. But I liked the sketch enough to colour it. Perhaps a meeting of minds of a sort? As much of a mind I can have with the blood flow to my brain being cut off by that bandana. ><; When I do wear one, it's usually a star-patterny black scarf, red just seemed to fit here.

"I know what your heartbreak feels like, just let it all go in shakes and sobs..."

Another right out of my sketchbook, featuring my relatively new character Sendiri (named thanks to Lethe-grey) consoling Wolf Nymph... I could use a little consolation, someone to just hang onto me while I cry into their fur. or ah... clothes more like. I didn't know who would be my random sob-victim until I remembered the kitsune-tanuki mix from a while ago. His name means 'alone' in Indonesian, thought it was appropriate.

Done for the brand new yerf secret santa, for Suzi dragon lady.

I am pleased with the way it came out, but I apparently I don't know how to scan something with ridges like cardstock. This looks godaweful to me, I wish it had turned out better in the scan... Supposed to be all kabuki-ancient-japan-random -ish. I really had a hard time coming up with a historical theme for this character.

Done with watercolours and a teeny bit of coloured pencil on cardstock.

Docter's advice:
"if not careful, leaping for joy can often result in a faceplant"

A couple nights ago I asked Frisket for a bit of advice, and her suggestions were very helpful. Perhaps it doesn't warrant giftart, but I guess I was in the mood to draw something like this anyway. It was a welcome distraction, drawn before my big fiasco though. It's likely this is the happiest art you'll see from me for a while. Bet I messed up something about her markings... oh well, it turned out ok. Yet another coloured sketch directly out of my sketchbook.

"It wasn't supposed to be like this, ever...! I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm so sorry..."

I've been sketching alot in the past few days, filling up my sketchbook a bit... I can't bring myself to make a 'finished' even though I have plenty of them to do, so I decided to at least colour this one directly from my sketchbook. It doesn't look as nice, and it's a bit of a flashback as far as technique goes, but it's sorta emotional art (ha, sorta). So if you have any critiques I'd appreciate if you kept them to yourself...

"You were a guide for me, you showed me many things, and I am disheartened by your departure, but I know that the lessons you taught me will strengthen the foundation for the rest of my life."

This has been in the works for quite some time. It's my first true mixed media commission. This piece is something more than a normal commission for me, I became very emotionally involved with the story behind it.

A college graduation / birthay gift for my sister, Heather! When she saw my giftart for Huskie, she really loved the background. She made a comment about a snow leopard looking cool with that kind of background, and pink is her favourite colour so ta-da! Gave the leopard an extra twist with the random stars in her coat, seems to suit my sister's personality very well. If I could change one more thing, I would make her snarling, which would suit my sister better in fact.

Looks better in real life, but I'm damn proud of it. I hope my sister likes it as much as I do.

"purple is the colour of freedom"

Nakey Husky takes a ride on the dreamworld express, free to surf the skies of the subconcious. Though I don't exactly know her personally, I know from her art that she's one of the most free thinking people out there. I admire her art well as her freedom. She just doesn't give a crap who thinks what about her art, she draws whatever the fark she wants! I think that's one reason why so many people think she rocks. Hope she doesn't mind that I gave her an almost abnormal amount of crotch-fluff. Hope this isn't too big.

Done in watercolour, coloured pencil and gouche on some odd size of bristol I don't remember...

Rebane asked for a happy fox in dirty coveralls! So here he is, with a slightly more artsy background than befits a dirty fox mechanic. ^^ The 'M' on his name tag stands for mechanic, because I'm uncreative with names.

"Bathed in the glow of maternal love"

A commission I did for someone who has supported my art for quite some time. He already owns several of my pieces, and it's a pleasure to do something so personal for him. To be a gift for his mother I am told. A bit of the border has been cut off during the scan and piecing together. It looks a little lopsided with the darker portions.

"Shoes are overrated"

My entry for the special first anniversery yerf trading post! This is Katarina's grey squirrel character, Jody Corgan. As soon as I got the character description I knew what I wanted to do. Of course it turned out slightely different than what I imagined, but all art does. A deliberate mix of textures, but a bit too contrasting for my taste.

re-uploaded because I made a dumb mistake in the description. Even though she's very human-looking, I suppose this is technically within the guidelines for vcl, even if borderline.

This is Peganthyrus' character, Twin; the sentient black hole (for this week's trading post). I know I can't enter the polls this week, but this character was perfect for some art block breaking. Certainly not my usual style, but I very much like it.

This was my final project for a character design class I had last quarter. This is Shade and Cyrus's first encounter in the forest. It took me a full three day weekend to finish it, working from about 9AM to midnight for each of the three days. Done on 15" X 20" illustration board with watercolour, coloured pencil and white gouache. I'm pleased with it mostly because I worked very hard on it, and it's very... textured. I think I did ok, considering this is my first time with illustration board, and this big of a project.

Thought it was time to have a clear and updated character layout for Shadow Wolf here. I also needed it for the special trading post #52. These are her updated markings, either digitigrade or plantigrade legs work. hand/feet pads optional. So, this is me I guess, minus lopsided nipples and slightely overdone muzzle curve (just realized how weird that looks).

Instead of being productive today, I spent the day drawing this. My entry for this week's trading post over at yerf! This is Spirit, riding a... giant sand anatomically incorrect sand raptor thing? yes! Exactly that!
Things I love about this picture: The raptor, Spirit's shirt.
Things I hate about this picture: the palm trees, grass, sky... background in general.

The raptor is saying, "OOGA BOOGA!" I think.

Wereblood and Lakota are my next victims! Here they be, crawling about (whether on the ground or on a wall I don't know) being all happy and... pupil-less.

Lakota was the first person ever to commission me, and a double commission too. And wereblood was my first trade I ever did! For that they both hold a special place in my heart. Kind of a thank you gift for them.

This fur texture isn't really what I want my style to look like... But when you draw this small (actual drawing is much tinier) you can't help but crowd the texture too.

My entry for Yerf's trading post #46, Shoomlah the tapir as an egyptian goddess! I pulled this one out of my ass last minute while at my boyfriend's house.
