Commission for Shimmer Hawk, and a well enjoyed one at that! I struggled with a couple of things on this one, but it turned out well overall. =3

Here's a bit of fan art I did for the amazing Sidian Silverhawke: http://sidian.tigerknight.org/

I realize I left out her wings, and details like her jewelry (I didn't want her wings to obscure anything, and there was no room for a drawn-back wingspan), but I hope she likes it. I also just really wanted to draw her dragon self, since the design is so interesting to me.

Long overdue giftart for Silberwolf for being my 500th watcher (long time ago). This is a werewolf character he created some time ago. I know I wasn't supposed to include the cloak and he was supposed to be in an urban setting, but.... I forgot about the cape thing (and I think it looks rather cool anyway) and didn't have time for a decent background. ^^; Hope it's ok though, I like the way it turned out. I spent endless ours tweaking with a photoshop background that never turned out. It looks better blank like this. For this I used a drafting pencil instead of my mechanical pencil, so if it looks rough or messy at all, it's because of that. *whew* enjoy!

Done as a gift for someone on go-gaia who randomly gave me stuff. It was a pain to finish because it got kind of boring making all that fur texture, over and over again... I think that's just because I'm getting sick of taking forever to colour each drawing I make. I got lazy on the back wing. Turned out nice though.

I have to wonder, why whenever I use this kind of blue, I deplete the pencil down to one half?

Finished commission for phoenix pie, of herself and her boyfriend sharing a romantic moment watching the night sky. I wish I had more to say about this, all of it turned out pretty much how I wanted it so, save the main dark portion of the sky. I think it would have done without being so dark, but it still looks pretty good overall.

Detail here: http://www.deviantart.com/view/21657999/

Done in watercolour, coloured pencils, acrylic and gouache on 11" X 14" smooth bristol.

Holiday Slow Dance

Another card commission, this one for an off-DA person who has bought original art from me before. =3 Thank you, to this repeat client! He asked I illustrate the characters from this piece (linked in more info URL) in a more romantic holiday setting, sharing a slow dance. This really shows me how much my process has changed, I'm looser with my fur texture and use watercolour MUCH more than pencil now. Though I think for these cards everything is a little less refined because they are small-ish commissions that I need to finish in a timely manner. ><; Maybe I just always think I could do better.

Small Dream Gryphon

I had a dream where I was this critter! It was super fun, and I remember every sensory detail. I liked the experience so much, I had to draw her too! In the dream, my boyfriend was one too, but a little bigger and coloured like a peregrin falcon (with my own hawk based body and face).

I made an attempt at skeletal structure (basic masses, no detail). More detail at the comment link. Just a fantasy with an attempt at imagining how it might work.

It's very simple and easy to remember: if you don't want to die or have chunks of you ripped from your flesh, don't touch Shadow Wolf's panda! *protects*

Thought I'd give photoshop colouring another shot, this time I wasn't AS lazy, but still it was somewhat hurried. Got frustrated with the lower half, so all you get it an angry fuzzy face.

rar! more practice!

Flight to Better Days

First project for my children's book class, fully illustrated page out of an existing fairy tale. This is from a shorted form of Thumbelina, the scene where the sparrow takes her away from her situation of having to marry the dull flower-hating mole. This one's a two page spread. Sometimes I wish the story would have ended here; "the sparrow spirited Thumbelina away from the Mole and Mouse, and they lived happily ever after having adventure after adventure flying about the wide beatiful world as free spirits."

Done in watercolour and coloured pencil. I'll upload my storyboard sketches to scraps on deviantart sometime soon, since it's not totally on topic art.

"In meditation she rides the invisible winds of Gaea, giving off the light of her namesake: Spirit."

A trade with Spirit86 of Deviantart. It's been a while coming, because school and holidays really got in the way.

Decided to go for a much finer fur style, still very design-ish and not very realistic. And more with the cool fire energy designs! I love the flow of this one in particular.

This started out as a loving sort of sketch in my sketchbook from a while back, but I decided to make it a bit more sinister. This was mostly an excercise in texture control. I tried a monochrome wash, and tried to control the colours with pencils and gouache. The white was fun, playing with texture purely with the white paint. the way the wolf's teeth came out made it look like he/she is missing teeth, not to mention that bunny's belly *sigh*

I was going to put in a background, but I made the mistake of leaving out the background wash to concentrate in the figures. Although there are a lot of mistakes in this, I am pretty pleased with how it turned out.

A college graduation / birthay gift for my sister, Heather! When she saw my giftart for Huskie, she really loved the background. She made a comment about a snow leopard looking cool with that kind of background, and pink is her favourite colour so ta-da! Gave the leopard an extra twist with the random stars in her coat, seems to suit my sister's personality very well. If I could change one more thing, I would make her snarling, which would suit my sister better in fact.

Looks better in real life, but I'm damn proud of it. I hope my sister likes it as much as I do.

Anubis Doggy

Here's a sample of what a custom one of a kind sticker or magnet will look like at FC. I figured I needed to come up with samples of everything so people get an idea of what they are buying when they commission me. So I made up this anubian doggy dude for that purpose! I'm going to make a magnet out of the original, and he'll be at my table to be a good sample doggy for people to see.

My Summer Girl

My contribution to this years Music Portfolio, reuploaded to add a more prominant watermark showing the portfolio name! My song of choice is "Summer Skin" by Death Cab for Cutie, one of my favourite songs. With this piece I tries not to rely on coloured pencils at all, nor did I rely on lines of any kind (no outline, haha!) I rather like the result! Sorry for the big watermark, but if you want to see the unwatermarked version, you gotta get the 'folio. If you are interested in purchasing the portfolio, the only place I can direct you for now is the livejournal community (Click the More Info link) They will also have a table at Anthro con, so look for it there!

And the original is for sale, so note me if you're interested!

It was the first sunny day in forever so I put on my bikini top and jeans and ran around outside in the grass. The grass was most green in the winter because of the cool and little bit of rain and snow we got. A very unusual winter.
My nose is funny looking, I know, but it was just a spur of the moment pose drawing.

I've wanted to draw both of these guys for a long time now, and it dawned on me how cool they would look together in one piece! Half gift art half experiment, using Sunwolf and KaHaTeNi as my lab rats. ^^ A sort of night and day, sun and moon theme. 'Twas a blast to draw! Though the composition is simple, it took me quite some time to finish. More swirly stuff may be added to fill out that blank background space, but for now I think I'll leave it be.

Hope you guys like it!

A trade with Sunwolf, done with graphite with photoshop color added. So 11 1/2 hours, 15 layers, and a totally dead wrist later (I use a mouse), I have this! I tried to get the effect of the sun glowing through the feathers, referencing some photos and a Nambroth piece for how to do that. I'm not sure I fully succeeded, but it still looks really snazzy to me! I worked pretty darn hard on it =3

I made her all werewuffy and nekkid, also didn't include her glasses ( sorry! ;__; ). Yes, she does have four fingers and not five. I always have such a hard time with white fur, since during the level adjustment I loose all the shading and definition. This time I manually went through and erased the tinted background so the detail is a little more visible.

Here is the concept drawing for a story I've been playing with in my head for about a year and a half. My friend, a fellow wolf, gave me the story name idea: "Sussurus" meaning 'to whisper'. I went ahead with the two main characters here: your typical male werewolf and a wolf spirit girl. neither of them have names, and their character designs change later. I guess you could call 'Sussurus' a love story, but it's much more complicated than that.

'Sussurus' characters and future story line are copyright to shadowolf (me!)

I decided to take the advice of whoever-it-was-I-forget and watercolour this one. I REALLY wanted to do something else for the trading post, I had this whole awesome thing in my head, but this is all I had time for. I'm fairly pleased with the way this came out, especially since it's my first try at this style of watercolouring.

Re-uploaded because I didn't realize the file size was so big. ^^; Sorry 'bout that.

My entry for Yerf's trading post #46, Shoomlah the tapir as an egyptian goddess! I pulled this one out of my ass last minute while at my boyfriend's house. He was very patient while my world narrowed to this drawing for a few hours. I'm VERY pleased with how it came out, despite many smearing and mis-inking incidents while it was being drawn. *glee*

Teach Me to Fly

Commission for Dani Walker, of herself (gryphon) and her soon-to-be husband (horned canine)! This one I decided to do in acrylics because I have a lot of freedom with the medium. I think it turned out fantastically, I'm pretty pleased. Coloured pencil touch ups make a big difference too, I think. Though, this picture taught me I need to work on textures other than fur, feathers and grass (the rocky cliff). Need more people to commission me for gryphons and birds! The gryphon is a combination of a Red Tailed Hawk and a Somali Cat, and her canine guy is a wolf with ram horns and Cape Hunting Dog markings.

Check out the detail images in the "More Info" URL.

"As a creature of the past looks on, the barer of new life awakens the first of a new creature"

This is for yerf's trading post #58, Tarah Fae's character Quadiva! Quadiva is a Quagga, a recently extinct cousin to the horse and zebra, and Guide to all Last of Kinds. The big Chocobo looking bird peeking at the egg is a Terror Bird, a group of birds that ranged from five to nine feet tall, and hunted the ancestors of horses. It was really hard to find skeletal references for this guy, so all I had to go on was memory from past books about it, a few illustrations and a thumbnail of it's skull. Think of them as avian t-rex's of their time, certainly apex predators. I love them! ^^
