I recently saw Spiderman 2, so I was reminded of how I used to be pretty obsessed with the comic sometime in middle school and early highschool. Venom was always my favourite bad guy, because A) He's not quite a villain, more of a tortured soul sorta guy, and B) because he's damn badass!

So I decided to draw this, a not-quite-venom thing. No green slobber and no white markings aside from his eyes, but still distinctly a host to the venom symbiote. I don't quite know why, but I love this picture to death. I spent way more time on it than I should have. All for love of Eddie Brock... I'm not sure if I can copyright this guy in his entirety, but I'd like to use him as a fan character if I could. So no stealy. =P

An art trade with Wereblood. Was my day's project, just powered through it. Even though it was only one day, the hours count up to about 8 to finish. I also uploaded four other stages of it on my deviantart account, if you'd care to take a look.

and once again, my shitty scanner muddled the fur texture..
alas.

My long awaited entry for wereblood's contest! Wereblood and Dirty Paws get all riled up and start playing in true canine fashion. I realize Dirty Paws' hind legs look a bit funky and splayed at first, but they're supposed to do that. I used a couple references for playing dogs and wolves, and that's more or less how I saw the hind legs going. I know it's not much, but it was fun and I kept my promise to make an entry.

Arrival of Darkness

Commission for Westly Wolf, who has been a very patient and friendly customer! =3 His vampire, and wolf/hyena/vamp mix characters floating/flying in a sort of comic cover style piece. I realize now after scanning it I forgot the feathers that are supposed to be placed on a small spot on Westly's wings, I hope that doesn't compromise this at all. =/

Check out the detail image so you can see the vamp's face better: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/43737036/

Done on 11" X 14" smooth bristol with watercolours, marker, gouache, graphite and a tiny bit of acrylic and coloured pencil (white mostly).

Long time owed commission for luniara of deviantart, who had the coolest idea for a commission without pre-developed characters! I really enjoyed this one, a chance to flex my muscles as far as scaled dragons go. I have a pretty good method of painting all those scales now, I just need me a better set of acrylics now.

I realize this is a bit big, but it looked rather dwarfed when I made it any smaller. Another dragon from Preston's dream, the one he was arguing with about something diplomatic and confusing. She is a snow dragon, large wings (larger than I drew them, I didn't want them to take over the painting) and furry body. I know it's hard to tell, but I used a variety of colours to make up the shadows on her body, including light purple, light blue and gold. Used the advice given to me on the last dragon piece to try some kind-of-new stuff on this one, but I think it turned out a little messy.

My contribution to the Music Portfolio, a collection of music inspired artwork to be sold on CD. Artists such as Bloodhound Omega, Cara Mitten, Ultraviolet Bat and tons of others! I will have FIVE CDs, each one will cost $30, and I am taking preorders now! The CD will debut at Anthrocon 2006. If you want to reserve your copy, please email me at shadowolf444@gmail.com. The unwatermarked version of this piece will be on the CD. First come first serve!

The original is also for sale, anyone interested please contact me as well!

The song that inspired this is Chris Isaak's "Wicked Game". The character is Wolf Nymph, though I played with the amount of avian features she has, making her a little more bird here.

She is young, she is free and vibrant. But soon her youth with fade, leaving her colours reddish brown and muddled. That doesn't matter, because NOW... she is young. Painted in crushed wild rose petals, and exercise in letting go for me.

This is my art therapy. If you want to criticise it, go ahead, but it won't mean anything. This comes from my heart, not my head like a lot of my art.

All things fade away and rejoin the earth.

Window to Winter

Here is this year's christmas card design for my family, featuring Wolfy! (of course) I had a general idea of what I wanted to do, but my mom basically told me what she wanted to see specifically in this piece. I tried to work this from an illustrator's standpoint, going through thumbnails and colour studies and whatnot... I think it turned out well overall.

I'm going to donate the framed original to Eskie rescuers United (the 'more info' link) if they will take it. If not, I'm going to try and sell it myself and donate the proceeds to them directly.

This piece is at once supposed to be something pretty to look at, but also embody the power all women have in them. We are all powerful emotionally, it's just a matter of harnassing a powerful emotion like anger to do something positive with it. The duality of meaning also touches on how women can be the most beautiful when in a state of pure emotion. A woman with passion is a beautiful woman. I realize it's for the most part off topic, but I'm hoping I'm not going over the line with this one.

with FC coming up, I thought it would be cool to make my own conbadge for once! No, I'm not attending this year, I just thought it would be fun. So if you see anyone around with this badge, it sure as hell isn't me. Also, for a short time I AM taking conbadge commissions! Contact me for further info. More to come, serving as examples for future badge commissions, and for the fun of it.

I thought it was time not only for a new character sheet, but for a couple small changes. I've added dark brown eye dots and markings around the eyes for more contrast in facial expressions, and it's spiffy looking. Also, new details on Wolf Nymph's background. Wolf Nymph isn't really her name, it's more of her title, like 'archduke' or something. For now, her name will be the same as mine, until I find something other than 'Katie' that both suits her as a character and a representation of me. She's no longer a pure wolf, but a wolf/dog mix (thought still mostly wolf). For more information on her background, go here: http://www.deviantart.com/view/14918948/

Revised design of my self representative character, Wolf Nymph! She's a wolf/dog mix, but I thought I'd include her wings in the reference. Wolf Nymph isn't exactly her name, it's more of her title, like 'archduke' or something.

A little something I've been doodling up in between homework assignments for a little while, thought I'd go ahead and upload it. This is a slight redesign of Wolf Nymph's face and head. I barely changed the eye markings and gave her a feather crest, though I'm not entirely happy with the feather markings. I'll switch it up later on when finals are over. Only two more days!

Wolf Nymph Badge 2009

Thought I'd commission myself for a full body badge, hehe! =) Actually, I've had this sketched and waiting to be colored since I graduated, and thought I'd take a small break from commissions to do this for myself. What do you guys think of my new wing design? Been leaning away from a naturalistic pattern to something more bold for her.

I hope to make a fully updated reference sheet with new art someday, then you'll see both sides of her wings. Someday I'd love to make references for all my characters, many yet to be seen in my gallery.

Wolf Nymph Mask

My boyfriend bought this mask from an artist named Tiffany Smyth and the Colorado Renaissance Festival as a gift to me for our third year anniversary over the summer. I picked it out from dozens of handcrafted/molded leather masks that Tiffany makes herself and paints. Tiffany even signed the mask for me on the inside when we bought it!

This mask came as a blank unpainted slate, so I painted it myself (acrylic paints) and added the jewels (peridot) and the teeth (sculpy clay). Kind of an artistic interpretation of Wolf Nymph's marking here, adapted to the mask itself.

I will be wearing this mask for halloween probably, and I hope to bring it to FC with me to wear around the con. Tiffany's website is in the more-info link.

Happy Leaf Dog

Wolf Nymph really is more of a dog than anything. ^_^ Lately I've been drawing her as a dog only, no bird bits or anything, so I made a badge of her that way. It's been some time since I made myself a badge, my icon being the last one I did for myself in May of 2006. I still really like the way that one looks, but I wanted something more up leafy, doggish, dynamic and up to date.

Revised character sheet for my character Wolf Nymph! I made some very minor changes, so I really wanted to make this so I would have as thorough a reference sheet as possible. I included some angles that might be confusing to anyone drawing her, like her butt and where her wings attach, as well as the written description ON the image so it's all in one place. It's not totally perfect, like some crooked things... But I don't mind, I like it overall!

About the face in the middle of the three, the beast bird looking one. Lyosha gave me permission forever ago to use the facial structure of her chimera Zherion. I thought I should credit her for the original idea, which I though was pretty awesome.

"Shoes are overrated"

My entry for the special first anniversery yerf trading post! This is Katarina's grey squirrel character, Jody Corgan. As soon as I got the character description I knew what I wanted to do. Of course it turned out slightely different than what I imagined, but all art does. A deliberate mix of textures, but a bit too contrasting for my taste.

She is a belly dancer. I am a belly dancer! she is not me though. Imagine her dancing on a beach, facing the rising sun, and you've got the image I have in my head. however, I'm not good at backgrounds yet, so instead she's floating in my drawing space. inspired by a yellow silk veil my dance teacher owns. It could have been much better, but I'm still very proud of it.
