coyote.jpg
Image: coyote.jpg 439x650 41909 bytes 2006.07.10

This is Coyote, done for a friend who's going through their exams at the moment as a good luck piece. It's all pencilwork.

silverflames.jpg
Image: silverflames.jpg 348x600 48074 bytes 2006.05.31

Here is an updated picture of Silverblue - with her backfur dyed to be roughly the same as the tattoo that I have iRL. And yes, suddenly she has glasses and a slightly heavier figure. Goodness, is this making her gradually look more like me? Probably!

She is still much cuter, though.

And yes, I was supposed to draw something sexy for Furbid, but I'm not sure I can bring myself to part with this. Pencils and inks.

al_miradj.jpg
Image: al_miradj.jpg 293x680 31830 bytes 2006.05.25

An Al-Miradj from something that I have been working on recently. Mostly I'm experimenting with Computones and trying not to horribly suck.

asagwe.jpg
Image: asagwe.jpg 436x650 75354 bytes 2006.05.18

Asagwe of the Boneguard, er, who I am currently working for iRL. For those of you who remember Lacunae, yes, this is the same character! Here's hoping that this doesn't get moved to scraps - for some reason my laptop doesn't tend to show dust and speckles so things look more crud on other monitors than they do on mine.

Asagwe is Copyright himself.

egyptsphynx.jpg
Image: egyptsphynx.jpg 456x530 55003 bytes 2006.02.21

Wikipedia saith: A Sphinx is an iconic image of a recumbent lion with a human head, invented by the Egyptians of the Old Kingdom, but a cultural import in archaic Greek mythology, where it received its name (Greek Σφινξ, "strangler").

Strangler! I wonder why? I suppose it might be because lions often strangle their prey by biting hard down on the throat.

betta.jpg
Image: betta.jpg 550x700 119804 bytes 2006.01.22

This is an attempt at an anthropomorphic betta fish. I love my bettas. For swishy little queer-looking dudes with gorgeous colours they sure think they're macho. And the bubble nests are cute too.

halloweenbw_2005.jpg
Image: halloweenbw_2005.jpg 414x700 81831 bytes 2005.10.30

Happy Halloween from Rook in the Garret and this year's star victim! I still remember the Creatures of the Night Anthrocon with great fondness.

Pen and Ink, and Copic Marker. Font done in Photoshop.

Porcelain the Conductor is the sort of harpy-bird-person who conducts my orchestra. She has a pocket watch to allow her to keep time.

harbringer_steed.jpg
Image: harbringer_steed.jpg 435x600 57584 bytes 2005.01.17

Not especially good on the body construction front, but gives an idea of Harbringer steed personality when unmounted or not controlled. I figure he's panicking on the battlefield after losing his rider.

harbringer_packbird.jpg
Image: harbringer_packbird.jpg 403x600 30984 bytes 2005.01.17

This is a pack animal from the Harbringer story I'm writing. They're predatory birds, but in the main nervous animals, and good at climbing and jumping.

celestial_jara.jpg
Image: celestial_jara.jpg 499x600 69436 bytes 2004.01.02

One of the cute things that the third edition of Dungeons
and Dragons has are the various templates that can be added
to creatures to change them into otherworldly beings. One
of these is the Celestial template. So here is a picture
of my Birman cat, Jara, as a Celestial.

tuesdaysilver.jpg
Image: tuesdaysilver.jpg 474x650 79541 bytes 2003.10.18

Here's a sketch for Pyroness because she said Tuesday
should meet Silverblue, because she wanted bunnies, and
because I felt like drawing rabbits on mushrooms drinking
tea after she did. Really, I'm an artistic vaccuum
hoovering up ideas right now.

Still, there we go! Done without brushes, which I almost
never do any more...

Tuesday is Copyright Pyroness.

froghunter.jpg
Image: froghunter.jpg 569x628 65697 bytes 2003.10.08

A frog with his...or her...prey that I sketched during
our weekly roleplaying event. Inspired in part by the
horrendous fireballing of a supposedly evil ("What do you mean you detected alignment on the survivor and he was
neutral?! NEVER detect alignments, it leads to pain!") group
of frog people. Inspired in the rest by the incomparable
Ursula.

I always thought frog people were a rather cheerful, fun
idea. So this one's got a big smile. And a straw hat.

ookami_kemono_-_pussycat.jpg
Image: ookami_kemono_-_pussycat.jpg 442x620 56777 bytes 2003.09.04

"Everyone is beautiful. Come and see."

Fan art of Ookami Kemono's 'Pussy Cat' character. Go look at his directory here on Velar.

This is a slightly unusual style for me, but I was trying to copy the fact that Pussy Cat is more muscular than the somewhat sleek Silverblue. It's also plainly just strange anyway. And yes, Silver's naked. Oh, the horror.

depression.jpg
Image: depression.jpg 439x700 49776 bytes 2003.08.15

You can still be paint. Blood can be fixed with the
right mordant. Everything will be fine.

Don't worry your pretty little head about it. Remember -
if you're not suffering, the likelihood is that you're
not doing it deeply enough.

wisforwyrmbunny.jpg
Image: wisforwyrmbunny.jpg 516x650 57194 bytes 2003.08.12

On the newsgroup alt.devilbunnies, there is a small
group of creatures known as 'Wyrmbunnies'. Possessing
horrific fangs and claws and repellant diseases, they
spend much of their time hunting down and infecting
Devilbunnies for fun and profit.

Here we have the Wyrmbunny in its natural state - giving
the viewer a cheery greeting grin as it welcomes them to
Doomwarren, Dunwich.

meow.jpg
Image: meow.jpg 333x650 35057 bytes 2003.08.03

Meow the cat has nine lives.
And all of them have two eyes.
Four of them make up her paws
Three of them eyes and her nose
And zero her skill in disguise.

mileend.jpg
Image: mileend.jpg 335x600 47157 bytes 2003.07.09

Mile End - A pencil piece of a punk zebra, looking a bit
dubious about the entire situation she finds herself in.

"It was on the fifteenth floor,
It had a bar across the door
We had to prise it off just to get inside..."

Anthrocon Art Show piece.

reanimator.jpg
Image: reanimator.jpg 338x600 51712 bytes 2003.07.08

Reanimator. Well, having grown up around feral sheep, I
certainly find the damn things frightening. And around
an abbatoir you would certainly find all the necessary
pieces...just...in bits.

The Reanimator will be offered at the Anthrocon Art
show and will probably be one of the very, very few
non-erotic pictures in the adult section. Grin.

goatgirl.jpg
Image: goatgirl.jpg 500x650 65559 bytes 2003.05.25

A little goat girl done direct ink to paper (mmm, no erasing) while watching Fellowship of the Ring. She looks a little worried and pensive, perhaps because while she is a fairy, she's not a particularly pretty one in the traditional sense. She is some form of nature spirit, rather animalistic in thought, wary of people. Pen and ink, pencil, copic markers, alcohol.

chechvstheuniverse.jpg
Image: chechvstheuniverse.jpg 382x650 70030 bytes 2003.05.04

"Chesh vs the Universe"

A b-grade movie poster. There may as well be a lava lamp
in the background. Done for the May Competition at Velar.
Chesh is a thievish bounty hunter type character with a
raygun, yes!

carrion.jpg
Image: carrion.jpg 443x650 50771 bytes 2003.04.26

Carrying on from Rook in the Garret - another one of the
weird bird-headed creatures of the unseelie. Friends
suggested that they actually all look like this - this is
why they wear masks, but I think Carrion is possibly a
little different. Dead and dried up and dessicated and
cruel.

bathory.jpg
Image: bathory.jpg 438x650 76255 bytes 2003.03.30

Bathory the perky vampire bat, in honour of this year's Anthrocon. Pen and ink sketch, coloured with Copic Markers, and screwed around with in Photoshop. Prints will be for sale if anyone really cares.

perkybat.jpg
Image: perkybat.jpg 411x600 64845 bytes 2003.03.20

A perky little vampire bat in for the evening still
cannot quite resist keeping her window open to the
night outside. Even goths wear cutoffs, apparently...

aheria.jpg
Image: aheria.jpg 391x550 58209 bytes 2003.02.28

There we go, a somewhat gothier version of Aheria, who is
of course copyright herself. Her hair seems to have become
a little overwhelming...but she does seem to have maned
wolf blood, so...

You can find Aheria's work here on the VCL!

lilith.jpg
Image: lilith.jpg 527x608 97506 bytes 2003.02.26

There you go, Raynflower's character Lillith.

Drawn using her first pencil sketch as a reference,
so all the colours are wrong...ah...sorry...*blush*.

tribute.jpg
Image: tribute.jpg 700x489 69048 bytes 2003.02.20

Tribute for Ch'marr, who runs the Velar archive. Digital painting with Wacom tablet and Adobe Photoshop, if I can claim the phrase 'painting' for this.

If I was a Swara king I'd ask for some sign of the allegience of my vassals. Beads or bounty, food or somewhere elegant and cool to sleep after the heat of the day and the hunting.

rookinthegarret.jpg
Image: rookinthegarret.jpg 416x596 45229 bytes 2003.02.13

Rook-in-the-Garret holds the position of First Violin in Her Majesty's Royal Orchestra of the Unseelie Court.

Sketched on a train and coloured at about five in the morning in Photoshop.

Rook is Copyright Silverblue.
