Molten Amur: Photoshop, 2001. I always seem to get too tight in my pics, so I did this at lunch as an exercise in "staying loose". I drew it freehand, building the lion up from black blobs, purposely stylizing him. (Amur has been appearing as a lion/tiger mix of late, but when I was little I usually drew him as a golden-maned black lion. Woo-hoo.)

1993, Prismacolor & Design markers and Pigma Pro pens - done back in the days when I carefully inked and then marker-colored many of my drawings (it's hard to find time for that now). It's Amur-Iraklion, one of The Five and The Twelve, in his aspect as a SunLion

Who left the door open?: 7/2000, pencil. Amur-Iraklion as a lion/tiger-type 'taur and a bug-thing (with a familiar face). Drew it at lunch & at my DrummerBoy's house, over the span of a few hours. Thanks to him for encouraging me to get back to doing what I truly love - art! art! art! And thanks to all of YOU out there for your interest and very kind comments! It means a lot! :D

Beast & Beauty: 1991, pen & Prismacolor markers. This was for an Illustration class assignment, and was supposed to be a black-and-white illustration (gray tones were allowed). I didn't want to do the typical human-female "Beauty", nor a Disney-ish Beast - so I used my female-cat-character Lorelei and a slightly-anthro Amur-Iraklion (note the somewhat hand-like paws) to fill in the roles. The piece is inspired by, and an homage to, the "Yellow (or Green, Red, Olive, Blue, etc.) Fairy Books" with their wonderful stories and gorgeous illustrations. The werewolf-like sculpture in the back left symbolizes the Beast's changing nature. I wish I'd had more time to work on it.

Arak - Absolution: 1993, pencil. One of those metaphorical personal-meaning pieces. Arak is one of the Five and the Twelve, along with Amur, Lobo, Lorelei, and Maximillion. His normally close-cropped mane is long and flowing here; I've always loved to draw dragons with long manes, and now, a decade after I drew this piece, I'm seeing that more people love to draw them that way, too, which is cool with me - I don't think you can copyright a feature like that.

Mr. Self-Destruct: 1994 pencil sketch. This is a more "furry" version of Maximillion – he's rather lynx-like here. He's another one of my Five and Twelve. I drew this before I knew much about "Furry" art; I just always liked drawing animals more than drawing people. He usually has four fingers and a thumb, not three, but I like to change things around for variety. The gun is some generic thing from my head - I was sketching in class, or else I'd have researched it.

Lobo in "Hawkwolf" Armor: 1993, pencil. He's an old, old creation of mine, and another of The Five and The Twelve - when I was little I named him *deep breath* Lobo Anubis Ironwolf Nightsong (not too original but hey, I was a little kid who liked big names ;>) He is not a werewolf or an anthro creature here - he's more like a canine-headed man who sometimes has a tail in this instance (his form changes depending on the story I put him in).
