Another iconic\n

abstract-swordfish.gif
Image: abstract-swordfish.gif   611x760 9861 bytes 1999.11.08

I liked the way this one came out; it could be a logo for a deep sea fishing charter service.\n

abstract-dragon.gif
Image: abstract-dragon.gif   658x407 11580 bytes 1999.11.08

This is one of what I call my "iconics".\r\nThe idea was to draw a recognisable creature using as abstract a series of lines as possible.\r\n I"ve been told they would make great tattos- but the people I talked to at a place in Tucson while I was there were only interested in getting the art for free- and trying to convince me that I should pay to get one of them put on me.\r\nNeedless to say, I told them where they could go, and walked out.\n

And another.\n

abstract-xenacanthus.gif
Image: abstract-xenacanthus.gif   555x747 11523 bytes 1999.11.08

This one will require explaning.\r\nXenacanthus is a prehistoric ancestor of modern sharks. I like paleoicthyology; or the study of prehistoric fish.\r\nthis creature lived in tidewaters, was about 2 feet long, and ate shrimp.\r\nI'm rather proud of the design.\n

spacerat.gif
Image: spacerat.gif   569x724 44257 bytes 1999.11.08

Art done for the worldcon commitee, for worldcon '96, in Anaheim.\r\n \r\n\n

foxshark.gif

A gentle poke in fun at Amara.\n

foxgirl.gif

just a generic, cute toon vixen.\r\n \r\n\n

charactersheet1.gif
Image: charactersheet1.gif   825x638 73866 bytes 1999.11.08

This and the next are character sheets from the Saguaro U project; dead, for lack of inspiration.\r\n\r\n \r\n \r\n\n

furryhead2.gif

One of the designs that was not selected.\n

furryhead1.gif
Image: furryhead1.gif   263x255 8433 bytes 1999.11.08

The final design selected by Shanda Fantasy Arts for a temp. tattoo they were working on- it was used for a T-shirt, as well.\n

Loris.gif
Image: Loris.gif   328x524 34999 bytes 1999.11.08

An illo from the Collected Hanno & Loris,\r\nwritten by Brock Hoagland, and available some time soon from Silverfox publishing.\n

Hanno&Loris.gif
Image: Hanno&Loris.gif   327x530 52451 bytes 1999.11.08

This is actually Neres and Keres, Loris' children from Brock's stories of the same name.\r\n(For those interested, these stories are printed in the fanzine Yarf!, and will be available shortly in a collected format from Silverfox publishing.)\n

dragonvsplane.gif
Image: dragonvsplane.gif   1080x1449 208349 bytes 1999.11.08

This is an older pic; but a favorite of mine.\r\nThe aircraft is a Pfaltz DIII- a competitor of the better known Albatross series.\r\n The Pfaltz was a little less maneuverable than the Albatross types, but because it was a tougher mount, and able to take more abuse without falling apart, it was a favorite choice as a balloon buster.\r\nThis illo originally went to a story I had where a WW1 German pilot just after the armistice suddenly found himself in a world where evil dragon lords terrorized poor furry peasants.\r\n The pilot decided to even the odds.- and went back to recruit his squadron mates, and some allied pilots to fight the dragon lords with their canvas falcons and aerial machine guns.\n

Morra.gif
Image: Morra.gif   608x808 73839 bytes 1999.11.07

The mage and Chun's love interest from the adventurers.\r\nMorra is a coyote, for those interested.\n

scottishbadger.jpg
Image: scottishbadger.jpg   572x773 113846 bytes 1999.11.07

A commission that I did a while back- its a sergeant of the 93rd highlanders regiment, during the Napoleonic wars.\n

Torval.jpg
Image: Torval.jpg   605x823 79282 bytes 1999.11.07

Torval is another character from the adventurer's group.\r\nHe's the anthro equivalent of a dwarf- and was intended to be one half of the comedy relief, as he bounced off of the thief, Keyo.\r\n \r\n \r\n\n

Chun.jpg
Image: Chun.jpg   629x782 90300 bytes 1999.11.07

One of a group of characters I designed for an abortive attempt at doing a D&D style comics story.\r\nChun is asiatic inspired- but carries a magic sword he got from a troll. (The sword is longer than it looks- Chun is rather tall.)\r\n\r\n \r\n\n

ironbadger.jpg
Image: ironbadger.jpg   530x726 88739 bytes 1999.11.07

I have a liking for pulp style advnture.\r\nAfter seeing the movie "The Mummy", \r\nI had to draw The Iron Badger in a pseudoegyptian setting, seeking danger,\r\nand to stop the evil one!\n

Woluar.gif
Image: Woluar.gif   392x740 68441 bytes 1999.11.07

Another illo from a Brock Hoagland \r\nstory.- Woluar is a hybrid of wolf and jaguar.\n

selkie.gif
Image: selkie.gif   455x715 18120 bytes 1999.11.07

This is based on some eyewitness reports, from the 19th century, and early 20th,\r\nof seal-like people seen in the seas around the british isles and the scandinavian coast.\r\n These reports are notable for the fact that so many of them were by reliable, knowlegable people like doctors, ship's captains, and the like.\r\nThe last of these sightings of which I am familiar was around 1920.\r\n Anyone interested is advised to look up books on unexplained phenomena.\n

oldselfportrait.gif

As the name says- in my Teddy Roosevelt uniform. (Which I occasionally wear to cons.)\n

Jaguarundi.jpg
Image: Jaguarundi.jpg   542x730 95399 bytes 1999.10.06

My part of an art trade with Jag. It is thanks to her that I have anything in my archive, since I don't have a scanner!\r\n \r\n\n
