Chibi-fied Super Deformed Super Collie! Run away, run away! :)

"Advanced Collie Super Girl" concept picture - During an online chat session, John P suggested that after seeing Super Collie in action, the Japanese authorities decided to make their own cyborg version of New Zealand's prettiest super-heroine. This is the first artist's impression of the ACSG, being fairly similar to the real Super Collie except for schoolgirl pigtails and ribbon balls, mile-high platform boots, and various Japanese insignia.\r\n\r\nTo quote from the ACSG user's manual: "ADVANCED SUPER GIRL COLLIE! The technology of cyborg of new Chiba clinic!\r\n\r\nFramework of the titanium of of light weight high-level for realistic principle, comprehensive meat and fur of the most recent technology." (courtesy of Babelfish :) )

Even super-heroines have to get the kinks out of their back after a hard day Saving The World (TM)...\r\n\r\nBased on a pose from an old copy of "Omaha the Cat Dancer" - somehow I don't think I quite got the feeling of a full "Oh gawd that feels better!" stretch. Colouring (done in The GIMP v2.0) came out good though.\r\n\r\nSuper Collie is the creation of John Plunkett and Terry Knight.

Super Collie in a rather pensive moment - probably after just being told she has to wear traditional Japanese 'seifuku' sailor-suit costume while in Japan (from my story-in-progress "On Her Majesty's Shepherd Service"). Cultural briefings can be a real bitch!\r\n\r\nSuper Collie is the creation of John Plunkett and Terry Knight. Image coloured by The GIMP v2.0

A wraith-like Bronwyn Morgan-Jones (a.k.a. "Dark Collie") with a dark and stormy photo background. \r\n\r\nI coloured a previous picture of Bronwyn, and used The GIMP to overlay her with a feathered outline on a photo taken up in the Mackenzie country in the South Island (New Zealand), adding a bit more darkness to the sky for an ominous effect.

Just for fun, I put "iMseverelybehind-1" through a 'Wind' filter in GIMP for the grey outline layer. Hmmm, not bad at all.

Never let it be said that I'm late joining the latest fad. Oh wait... I am. Bugger.

April 25 in Australia and New Zealand is ANZAC Day, a day of remembrance of those who gave their lives for their country. \r\n\r\n"Those heroes that shed their blood and lost their lives... You are now lying in the soil of a friendly country. Therefore rest in peace. There is no difference between the Johnnies and the Mehmets to us, where they lie side by side here in this country of ours... You, the mothers, who sent their sons from far away countries, wipe away your tears; Your sons are now lying in our bosom and are in peace. After having lost their lives on this land they have become our sons as well."\r\n - Ataturk, founder of modern Turkey, on the ANZAC troops who landed at Gallipoli, Turkey in April, 1915\r\n

Notional comic book cover for a proposed Super Collie story "Through A Glass Darkly", which will feature the introduction of Bronwyn Morgan-Jones (aka "Dark Collie") as Super Collie's opposite number. But how different ARE Esmerelda and Bronwyn - and who is to say one couldn't be the other?\r\n\r\n"Letteromatic" font is my friend! :)

A transformed Super Collie readies herself to battle a Japanese hentai beast - but it looks like the monster might have the drop on her! This is a scene from the in-progress story "Super Collie Adventures: On Her Majesty's Shepherd Service."

It looks like Super Collie has gone through the Taur Transmogrifier (patent pending)... Another piece of random silliness! Brush inked.

\r\nFrom the "Melbourne Age" website, 4 March.\r\n"An entrepreneur has applied for a licence to open a brothel in Berlin for sexually frustrated dogs. For €25 ($A45) for half an hour, the establishment would offer patrons a variety of carefully vetted "employees" and rooms for private encounters."\r\n\r\n"The Saprophyte" on a.f.f. suggested the headline and teaser - thanks for the inspiration!

Frederika von Braun (a.k.a "Blitz Knockers") from "Super Collie Adventures: On the Lamb", posing in a photo shoot taken in the Bahamas. This island in the Exuma group never looked prettier :) \r\n\r\n(This is an interim picture as the original 'scan' of Frederika was a makeshift bodge with a digital camera, owing to my scanner not being compatible with US/Bahamian voltage. Improved version to follow.) \r\n

Vicki Fox, from the comic strip "The World of Vicki Fox", meets Super Collie at EPCOT in Orlando, Florida. (I'd also done one of Vicki and Super Collie meeting at Cape Canaveral, but Mike and I decided EPCOT was probably more suitable for this meeting.) \r\n\r\n"Vicki Fox" is © and TM Mike Russell and Laura Howell. "Super Collie" is the creation of John Plunkett and Terry Knight. \r\n

Esmerelda Braithwaite, from "Super Collie Adventures", wearing a business suit in an office. \r\n\r\nThe picture on the wall behind her is of the Sheepdog Monument at Lake Tekapo in New Zealand - a place which has great significance for Our Heroine... \r\n

An illustration for John Plunkett's story "Super Collie Adventures: Dark Designs". Super Collie confronts a possessed Japanese guardian statue that is hot on the heels of the resurrected Daughter Night - but the statue isn't too concerned with whatever gets in the way of its mission!

"Super Collie in Motion" \r\nAn exercise in pose study, based on a "How To..." picture by Shawntae Howard (howto3.jpg). Ever since I started drawing Super Collie and illustrating her exploits, I've been aware of the need to come to grips with 'action' poses, so this was done in an attempt to break out of the old 'static' pose mindset. \r\n

Latest picture from the old drawing board - inspired by "the war on terror" and the Genesis song "Land of Confusion". While the latter item of inspiration was written in the middle of the Cold War, since September 11 et al it has taken on a similar significance. Even super-heroines like Super Collie must feel swamped sometimes with all the troubles of the world...\r\n

"A hooked Sea-Vixen" ("The Sea Vixen")\r\nAn illustration for one of John Plunkett's stories, "The Sea Vixen". A long-line fishing boat off the coast of New Zealand brings in a most unusual - and disturbing - catch of the day...

"Super Collie - Fun with Food?" \r\n\r\nDrawn for my friend Ian Stradling's sketchbook, Super Collie is captured with that icon of Australasian food, Vegemite. But it seems Super Collie is less than impressed with being in a "Fun With Food"-themed sketchbook!\r\nThe original lettering was redone on the computer, otherwise is pretty much as-is. I was also using this picture to experiment with Super Collie's colour scheme to make her look more 'collie-like'.
