That's Chimera as in a creature that's a mix of other creatures (like a gryphon)... not a Chimera like the lion/dragon/goat beast that the name is often associated with.

Andromeda is the cover girl for this year's art book because she's my latest fursona... and when I first introduced her, people responded favorably towards her.

AJ- Character concept

Gift art is one thing... I'm willing to do occasional gift art for anyone I consider to be a close friend. However, a sure fire way to tell that you're special to me is if I base a character in my fictional universe off of you.

My friend, Azarus has become more like a big brother to me. Heck, I've talked to him about things that I would NEVER talk about with my real brother.

Az and I somewhat collaberated on this character's design. The end result is AJ here.
He's an Ultimarian mercenary. He has a lot of darkness inside of him, but he still tres to do the right thing. And, just like Az, he speaks with a sexeh French accent.
The face is someowhat based on Neo from the Matrix, since Az in RL looks like the Canadian version of Keanu Reeves.

Ungulata: Semi-Request

I normally don't do requests. Period.

But when I was working on NewEnglander's latest commission, he mentioned his reindeer character in passing. I said that I had a reindeer character, myself but haven't drawn her in a number of years. He said that it would be interesting to see me draw her again. There aren't enough ungulates in the fandom... besides whitetails.

So. Here she is. Cassie the reindeer along with her boyfriend, Alex the bighorn. I haven't drawn either of these characters in about 4-5 years... so I decided to see what they'd look like in my current style.

This picture was done while I was stuck babysitting over the weekend and bored to tears. The drawing itself really was a quick sketch, but I did spend a decent amount of time on the coloring.

Andromeda - Concept Art

I've been doing some work on the "next generation" part of the Azura't'oris universe, obviously. And for that, I needed a hero for that part of the timeline... an alternate fursona if you will.

Andromeda (Andy for short) is a Theran Gryphon. She is isn't even born until around 10 years after Ulario's death. She is a warrior, still loyal to the alliance that turned it's back on her.

Meh. I wanted to give her a more original name for her... but I couldn't get "Andromeda" out of my head. She is named for the galaxy rather then the figure from Greek Mythology so it fit her very well. Much more then an original name could I think. I hope to have a character sheet for her eventually. Since I am planning on using her as an alternate fursona, she will have one.

It's had to find a shirt that will stay on someone with wings like that... apparently he couldn't either. That's probably why he looks so pissed :)

I tried drawing an anthro creature that I didn't think too many people have drawn before. This guy is a displacer beast. For those of you that don't play D&D, a displacer beast is a six-legged cougar with a strange-looking tentacle growing off either shoulder.

Aralay - Concept Art

I've been working on this one on and off when I've had a minute for several days now.

Concept art of a character from Andromeda's story. Aralay is a direct hybrid of the two Theran dragon species (actually she's the youngest daughter of my characters, Mag and Kaj).

She served as third in command in the same elite group as Andromeda. After Andromeda was exiled, she moved up to second in command. She is the only one who believes in Andromeda's innocence but cannot find a way to prove it.

Updated picture of my character, Aredon (Military Codename: DracoFury). Dragon with wings of fire added for symbolism purposes.

Art Book Preview II

I've been so busy with my art book that I haven't had much time for personal art so I decided to upload another "teaser" page.

Random Ki'rin girl. Theran Ki'rins are just an offshoot of the Theran Unicorn species so they are meant to look more equine then a traditional ki'rin. No backstory to her, yet... but I'm very pleased with the design. I may come up with a name for her and draw her a little more in the future.

There will be one more teaser page released right before the book is available for sale. Mid April or so.

Deep in their Studies

Two young Ibirians study hard to gain their status as priestess.

More reference material for the Ibirian species. This one is mostly meant to illustrate their homeworld... in particular, the grasslands outside of the Temple of The Sun.

Of course, Ibirius has more topographical features then this... but the entire planet does have a pastel color palatte with an almost shimmery feel to it.

Also illustrated are two tree species only found on Ibirius. Both of these plants were on the planet before the human settlers and are therefore not related to any earth species.

The Abakus plant has long, thin leaves and flowering fruit while the indar plant has pointed leaves and a pomegranite like fruit that grows along the long trunk.

Astara, one of my dragon characters lets an unnamed elf ride on her back. This was originally supposed to be a watercolor painting. Who knows, maybe I'll do the painting later on.

The cover for the 2010 installment of my Astral Chimera art book series. It features every 8.5x11 full color picture that I've created during that year.

Ayesha Robinson the Crow/Panther Gryphon. I use her for a lot of my online Roleplaying as well. She also exists in the world my comic book takes place in, though she probably won't appear because she is deceased the time the story takes place.

Semi commission done for Ben Harris. I say semi because this particular gryphon is my character and the pose/clothing/exerything else is my idea... but he paid for the commission and said he wanted a furry girl with a gun for his "Gals and Guns" series that he's been collecting. I usually don't do custom pictures of my own characters, but since she is one of my few characters that uses fireams, I said "what the heck".

Ayesha Robinson the panther/raven gryphon © 2003-04 Traci Vermeesch. Her weapon of choice is actually two revolvers(like an old west gunslinger), but I figured a BFG would be more appropriate for his series. :)

Yeah. I've been watching (and reading) too much Sin City. I was intrigued by the "all black and white with small bits of color" style, so I wondered what one of my drawings/characters would look like in that particular style.

This is more in the style of the movie, since it dosen't have the hard lines that the comic does.

I've been working on this for some time now. It's my banner that is going to be at my table for conventions and what not.

Val's father was one of Thera's first intergallactic traders. She would often follow him on his trade runs. On a run delivering Theran ore to the rainforest planet Kalgea, Val fell in love with one of the locals. An Ani-Gathier. The two were soon married.

Val and her lifemate now work as co-owners of a mechanic shop on Ultimare.

Valkyrie is more of a side character in the story... but I really wanted a bat character... since I LOVE bats... so I may draw her a little more.
