Image: pangolinhammock.jpg   532x720 132916 bytes 2004.05.01

18 x 24 mixed media--pangolin in a hammock with masked lovebirds.

Image: unicorncard.jpg   585x576 120800 bytes 2004.04.28

Acrylic on canvas, 24 x 24, and I have no idea either. Prints and original available, check out for all the gory details.

Image: redprintfrog.jpg   432x432 98395 bytes 2004.04.23

5 x 5 (Yup, that's life size!) acrylic on a very small canvas.

Image: yellowblotfrog.jpg   621x650 177624 bytes 2004.04.23

12 x 12 acrylic on board. Mmm...frog.

Image: concretefrog.jpg   720x524 150068 bytes 2004.04.21

Acrylic, 18 x 24. Tryin' to get the concrete texture that I love with real media instead of digital...

Image: bloodscratch.jpg   700x560 70249 bytes 2004.04.14

So the little capybara climbed up on Blood Gathererís broad and slimy back and found the itch, and scratched it with his webbed claws. Blood Gatherer glomphed and lashed and thrashed, but very carefully, so as not to shake the little capybara off. (More of "Happy Little Capybara Visits the Mayan Underworld.)

Image: warthog.jpg   545x700 146731 bytes 2004.04.12

Warthogs don't get nearly enough love. This guy's 11 x 14, mixed media, and with his anthurium and pet chameleon, seems to be decked out in fine style.

Image: wombatstrength.jpg   562x720 120908 bytes 2004.04.12

The Strength card of the Wombat Tarot, in which a white-clad wombat maiden tames the ferocious echidna, mighty king of monotremes through purity of heart, a handy daisy leash, and the fact she's probably got thirty pounds on the little guy.

Image: bloodgatherer.jpg   525x700 75298 bytes 2004.04.09

"I have an itch between my shoulderblades," said Blood Gatherer even more grumpily, "and my arms are too short to reach it." (Noodling around on my Happy Little Capybara Visits the Mayan Underworld idea. I'm not sure if this is the style I want or not...) \r\n

Image: wombeefcake.jpg   503x700 122003 bytes 2004.03.31

A friend of mine insisted on seeing wombat beefcake. I lay all the blame on her and take no responsibility for any of it, and yet, I still can't shake the feeling I'm goin' to hell.

Image: odddonkey.jpg   600x417 86274 bytes 2004.03.31

A peculiar little donkey, done in watercolor and acrylic, for a set of quick little pieces for auction. I think this one's my favorite.

Image: darwinsnail.jpg   720x576 192007 bytes 2004.03.12

If I had a shell, I would COVER it with bumper stickers. Still, I suppose this guy took the classy route. Mixed-to-the-point-of-goulash media, 11 x 14.

Image: slugtotem.jpg   541x720 139529 bytes 2004.02.28

Enough Charismatic Vertebrate totems--Slug is my co-pilot! (11 x 14, mixed media. God, I love painting slime.)

Image: skunkrock.jpg   650x520 56662 bytes 2003.10.19

Rock on, little brown skunk!

Image: moleratcute.jpg   498x650 64510 bytes 2003.10.17

Making fennec or hedgehogs cute is easy. I figured trying to cutify the legendary Naked Mole Rat would be a real challenge. (Me? Weird? Naaah...)

Image: fennec.jpg   670x576 73656 bytes 2003.10.17

I have come to the realization that I will simply have to run myself out of cute before I can resume normal function. Thus, the fennec and the ant.

Image: ratjester.jpg   642x467 55072 bytes 2003.10.15

A commission for a birthday present, which, given that the birthday has passed, I can upload without fear of ruining the surprise.

Image: hedgehog.jpg   440x650 42799 bytes 2003.10.15

Sometimes you just gotta succumb to the cute.

Image: mandrakewchild.jpg   800x495 143763 bytes 2003.10.14

I can explain! Really!\r\n\r\nThere's this poem by John Donne that includes the line "Get with child a mandrake root" and that got me thinking about pregnant mandrake roots, and then anthro mandrake root, and then I had to paint a pregnant anthro mandrake root. The rather stemmy...err...genitalia just kinda wanted to be there. I am not really in control of my paintings. Watercolor, 10 x 14, original available.

Image: abetrade.jpg   424x900 138787 bytes 2003.09.27

My half of an art trade, with the wonderfully talented Chris Goodwin. This is his charmingly thick-legged donkey character, gone Art Nouveau.

Image: goldkirin.jpg   519x700 70706 bytes 2003.08.31

An acrylic portrait of an earring-sporting kirin, 18 x 24, as CopperCon looms on the horizon and Ursula attempts to hammer out originals in that ancient tradition of Making A Buck.

Image: wombathang.jpg   507x650 121809 bytes 2003.08.29

Another piece from my ongoing "Wombat Tarot," the Hanged Man card of the Major Arcana. (Should that be "Hanged Wombat?")

Image: snorkus.jpg   800x353 57574 bytes 2003.08.29

Other than the fact that this catfishy beast is "Snorkus, Liberator of Goldfish," I have no idea what this painting is about.

Image: wockwurm.jpg   576x720 146882 bytes 2003.08.18

The valiant Sir Bunny vs. the Ravenous Wockwurm. (Oh, c'mon, like YOU never have days like this...)

Image: carrotnose.jpg   600x439 57552 bytes 2003.08.15

Some days you just want to lie around and shove carrots up your nose.

Image: molerattango.jpg   600x500 160612 bytes 2003.08.14

It probably says something about me that when I'm trying to think of a subject to test out a weird scribbly color idea, my brain immediately and without hesitation says "Naked mole rat tango!"

Image: wombatpgsword.jpg   562x720 142660 bytes 2003.08.12

Another of my Wombat Tarot project--the Page of Swords.

Image: storkenvane.jpg   539x720 151118 bytes 2003.08.08

While often mistaken for some kind of heron, the storkenvane is actually a late-model descendant of the platypus. (Playing around with watercolor over sepia ink.)

Image: turtlerock.jpg   422x750 103314 bytes 2003.08.07

In most worlds, of course, mountains are formed in the normal way, by buckling crust which is then eroded by wind and rain. On one particular world, however, geology works rather differently, and mountains accrete around a seed, like a pearl around a grain of sand. In this case, we see an infant mountain forming around one dismayed tortoise.

Image: wombatpage.jpg   507x650 102059 bytes 2003.07.31

Delving into the Minor Arcana of the Still-Nonexistant Wombat Tarot, we have the "Page of Wands." I should probably mention that these are all based on the classic Rider-Waite tarot deck, albeit...wombatized.
