"Attic of Memories" She was a product of the Advanced Desert Ops Biological Engineering project, and as its first child, she carried its name. Based on the desert aoudad, Hemitragus Lervia, she was designed out of the recognition that there are some environments on earth that humble even machines.

It's a long story. To make it short, after a long time and many battles, she came home to what's left of the house where she was raised. Her upbringing was rife with military discipline, but one bright spot was the geneticist who monitored her development. He gave her the first toy she'd ever had that looked like her, a small stuffed goat. When she finds her old toy box in the attic, it revives happy memories that she had thought were long dead.

This is one of the children from Project ADOBE. He is a genetic reconstruction of a chalicothere (which was actually a forest creature) and a protocamelid. He is specially designed for desert operations. He is extremely tough, able to survive on the meanest of food (think cactus needles), and able to go weeks without water while carrying loads of more than a ton. He's also currently THOROUGHLY ticked off that, for the fifth time this WEEK, he's being asked to help fix that fragile, finicky rolling stock that he was designed to replace in desert ops, but which, for some reason, never got decomissioned.

I drew this for David Simpson (Ozy & Millie), in response to one of his rare politically oriented strips. This was an attempt to do something completely in Adobe Illustrator. It was an interesting result. Mr. Simpson, BTW, did not acknowledge the piece. Hi ho.

Occasionally I just like to pick up a #4 liner brush and some ink, and have at the paper for a few minutes. When all goes well, something nice happens. This is my alter-ego, Goat, probably enjoying Emerson Lake & Palmer at a volume level that would stun houseplants.

"Afterglow." Kind of a suggestive title, but it's kind of a suggestive scene, anyway -- an object lesson in how to paint porn without showing any naughty bits. This is Thor, in the third part of his life, at the commune. Much like Steven Sherrill's minotaur, Thor is too old and too experienced to have very many hangups about his choice of partners.

Hope this doesn't violate VCL rules, what with having a human involved and all, but *I* think it's kinda furry. This was an exercise in painting a picture without using any black on my palette, as well as in painting from a very rough sketch. After re-doing the woman's face four times, I am finally happy with it.

Congratulations to the new owner of this painting.

The Goatman has been sighted mainly within the state of Maryland. He is said to have a goat's lower body and the torso of a human male. Horns protrude from his head. Some claim his head is fully goat. He is often described as carrying an axe.

The Classic Sighting: A couple parked on an isolated "Lover's Lane" are ambushed by this creature who attacks their parked car. They start the engine and drive off as the Goatman howls in anger.

Besides parked cars, the Goatman is often blamed for the death of dogs whenever a mysterious carcass is found.

This is how I feel pretty often, except that I don't have I.R.s arrogance to help me believe that whatever I'm doing is amazingly amazing. My thanks to the genius of David Feiss for the original version of this character.

"Assistance Not Required" This piece was done as a furry self-portrait for Rowrbrazzle. This hearkens back to my days at OFC, when I would be trimming mama, and the babies would decide I was a captive plaything. 1998, Brush ink on report cover stock.

"No Such Thing As A Clean Kill" This is a picture that I did for Kjartan Arnorsson of his character Herman Orca, originally colleted in Rowrbrazzle. The situation in the pictures was clearly "him or me" and yet Herman can't quite feel like a hero -- even murderous scumbags sometimes have adoring children.
