We have decided to use the IRC service, and the servers at irc.furnet.org, as the VCL's official chat service.

Please read the VCL IRC channel guidelines before participating.

To connect, either:

• Use your own IRC program, and connect to irc.furnet.org port 6667 channel #VCL, or
• If you have a IRC program, and your browser supports it, click irc://irc.furnet.org:6667/vcl

Sometimes participants connect, but idle a lot. If you jump into the chat for quick help, say hello, but wait 5 minutes or so for someone to respond. If noone does, just try later. Remember, not everyone is in the same timezone as you.

[edit] Don't have an IRC client?

Firefox users may wish to try ChatZilla, a rudimentary but functional IRC plugin.

Windows users can choose from:

• X-Chat 2 For windows
• mIRC

or others (Good list here: List of Windows IRC clients )

Linux users, you can choose from:

• Konversation
• KSirc
• irssi
• xchat

(Most linux distros tend to come with an IRC client already installed...)
